Today at 1PM EST (10AM PST) is the public memorial service for Michael Jackson. Over 1.6 million registered for it, but only around 17,000 hopefuls got tickets. Some of the chosen ticket holders decided to profit from Michael Jackson's death by attempting to sell them online. (Prices for tickets were up to $20,000 each!) eBay is quickly shutting down any listings for these tickets. Though only a lucky few will attend the event at the Staples Center, the rest of us can watch a live broadcast. It's expected that the Michael Jackson memorial service will break viewing records on TV and online.
Many feel that a celebration of Michael Jackson's life is appropriate (though I'm sure many Los Angeles tax payers aren't happy with the associated costs). Media outlets love the memorial service because it means higher ratings. MJ fans, such as myself, appreciate the public service because it gives us all a chance to remember and celebrate his amazing career. Others look past the music and only focus on the tabloid stories. To each his own.
But what does the majority really feel? Is Michael Jackson first and foremost a music legend to you, or do you just consider him Wacko Jacko? Vote below.
