Hi, everyone! Well, it finally got sunny in Boston -- now that summer’s nearly over, it seems. It stopped raining and stayed in the 70s for once, right in time for July 4th. Hope you all had a great holiday weekend! Just remember: the hotter it gets, the more we need to hydrate. We all know how it’s hard for some of us to stay hydrated (here’s looking at you, Melissa!) But with a few little tricks, it’s easier than ever to hydrate in hot weather.
First off, and I know it might seem insignificant, but get a reusable water bottle. It’s good for the environmen
t -- keeping countless plastic 8.oz-ers out of landfills -- and it’s actually easier to drink your eight 8-oz. glasses a day when you have a larger container. My favorite is the 32.-oz Rubbermaid I got from CVS. The more water you keep on hand, the more likely you are to drink more -- and the less often you need to take the time to refill it. I mean, keep at your desk at work. Keep it with you in your car. Run errands with it in hand. Take it with you on a shopping spree. You get the picture.
So that helps with the quantity of water you drink. But what about the quality? As I’ve mentioned before, the water in Boston . . . well, let’s say it leaves much to be desired. If you’re in an area that has a less-than-OK tasting tap water, invest in a good water filter. You’ll find some of the best on the market from PUR and Brita, in both pitcher and faucet varieties.
And then there’s the taste. Even if your water doesn’t taste like the Boston tap water, it’s still, well, flavorless! It’s
water, after all. But there are a few things you can do to spice up your water -- and a few things to actually muscle it up, too!
Right in your fridge there may be some ingredients to get ya goin’. I’m a big fan of lemon icebox pie. Yeah, it’s not good for you, but everything in moderation, right? Anyway, since I’m from down South, I think it’s a rule that I have to love lemon pie! So one of the main ingredients is, of course, lemon juice. And I always seem to have some in the fridge. Add a few drops or more -- whatever floats your boat. Suddenly, you have yourself a quick-and-easy lemon water. And it’s so easy to drink!
My other favorites are Crystal Light’s On the Go varieties -- especially the Skin Essentials. I’m in love with the Pomegranate Lemonade and the White Peach Tea. Each little packet contains antioxidant vitamins and plant extracts to help nourish your skin. And you know I’m a fan of that! Skin Essentials were developed with nutritionists and dermatologists,so this stuff’s legit. And each serving (large enough for a 16.9-ounce bottle of water) has just 5 calories. And what’s that -- just a few seconds on the elliptical! Crystal Light has other varieties, like LiveActive to help your digestive health, plus Immunity, Energy, and Metabolism boosters. I’ve yet to try a flavor I didn’t like. You can order them at Amazon.com.

Water is my drink of choice. In my part of florida, I would not attempt to drink tap water but I do recycle the 16 ounce bottles, by filling from good gallons a couple of times, then into the county bin. I am excited that I get to try crystal light and then do a review, yehaw!
Sweet! Do you know which flavors you're gonna get to try?
Nope, but free is great, lol. I never liked strawberry flavors but everything else is a go... ~waiting impatiently at the mailbox~
I am going to have to try the skin essentials. I drink the Crystal Light lemonade products, so I will have to give these a try too. I carry them in my purse along with my filter for good water bottle that is always with me.
Smart stuff, Pam. And speaking of "smart," I had a Smart Water with me all day while I was shopping. Gotta practice what ya preach! I try. :)
I like mine plain. Room temperature.
I like it room temp as well, Desiree, even with lemon or a water additive. It's easier to drink, isn't it? Also, I have sensitive teeth, so I avoid super-coldness at all costs!
That's true, it's also easier on your metabolism. No need to slow it down unless you have a hard time gaining weight.

Congratulations!
Thanks, Connie! Happy Friday.
Love water and it's gotta be cold! A water bottle goes with me everywhere I go. Gave up soda in 2005. Can't believe it's been that long!
Awesome, Angie! I gave up regular soda about five years ago. But it was only last fall that I gave up diet soda, too. Go, us!
My tap water is terrible tasting, that's for sure. That's why I keep buying water bottles.
I can't afford a water filter right now. Maybe after tax time, I will consider it.
I just love drinking waster. I sometimes drink more than 8 glasses. I am not sure, but I do need to consult with my Dr. about my ankles being swollen. I am wondering if I am not having too much water. I am guessing that it is because of the salt that I am probably having too much of. But I will keep drinking water in the meantime.
I've been known to drink 12 or 13 glasses a day, Gessy! As long as you're not drinking several glasses at once, you should be OK. I am definitely NOT a doctor though, so make sure to check with yours if you continue to have swollen ankles.
We take re-usable water bottles to the gym. We fill them up with ice before we go so it melts as we work out, giving us plenty to drink and cool off with.
I buy the same lemon juice but havent tried it in water.
I used both during vacation and always had water to drink.
I agree that the Pomegranate Lemonade and the White Tea are excellent. I also love the Citrus Splash. I took my vitamins with it all during my vacation - tastier than orange juice to me.
Some great tips. Thanks.
