Thanks to all of you. be sure to stay comfortable. Dont get to hot if you are in a warm climate. Careful if you are still having cold weather. Just have fun and go watch the fireworks, professionals do. better than starting a fire.

Fireworks have been going off on other streets around us all night.  Moses has gone to bed already.  He will get up early and go help the man across the street put up a tarp and set up the grills and just visit.  I'm on my way.  And you are right about that heat.  It was hotter today and tough out there.

I'm leaving a watermelon.  Hope you enjoy.

You are lucky, the only ones I have seen were over $8 . I will keep trying to grow my own. I remember when i could get them from peddlers 5/$1 that were selling from the side of the road. Big good watermelones

Flit, that is awful!  5.99 from 2.99.  Maybhe the watermelons were on special for the holiday.  From reading some of Leah's articles, I think some holidays are celebrated in Canada sometimes.  We've got a watermelon in the frig Moses paid 4.99 for.  I'm convinced the watermelon eaten off and on has a big effect in maintaining hydration  From my own personal experience, which may be different from others, is that watermelon does better than anything else, even straight water.  I don't know why.  I just know it is the most effective thing I can do.

Norma, if we had any leftover space I would try to grow watermelons and cantaloupes.  But that's just out of the question.  Maybe someday we'll have the space.  I hope they are not hard to grow.

When we mucked the barn at my Uncles, there was a pile of dirt and droppings mixed. My Uncle threw out some watermelon seeds from the one he was eating. Boy did the watermelon vines come up and cover a lot of territory. I have not tried that. We plant them closer to the fence line where the deer come through. They like the melons very much and leave the rest of our garden alone. We put some wire cages around the ones we want to protect. They like loose sandy loam and of course the other alternative

Come on over Penni, we are having BBQ Brisket, potatoe salad, and baked beans, What a deal we got at the store. A fully cooked brisket, just warm on pit for an hour or so, free two bags of chips, Jay Bush baked beans. 12 pack store brand cola. Cesar salad fixins. All for the price of the brisket . ,,,,,,,,the uncooked ones were the same price and took a full day or night of cooking and checking on the hot pit. wood pit at that to get the hickory flavor.

 Yummy sounding!! We are grillin' 10 pounds of chicken, hot dogs, and of course bush baked beans...I add onions and a bit of brown sugar to mine. Have a good time tonight :)

It's raining here. So much for a cookout today. You got any food left from yours, Norma? Russ and I are on the way.

Come on Marge. We have plenty of BBQ and potatoe salad left. Donald ate all the beans. it was just a small can. But i can make them from scratch. Better than from a can.

Norma, I'm home now.  I can't party and socialize anymore tonight.  We've eaten well and had a very good time visiting with all the neighbors.  Moses is still across the street and I don't expect to see him for quite a while.

I called Sheila to tell her something thinking I would get the answering machine.  She answered.  Guess what Sheila is doing?  Watching a Hallmark movie.  Says its good and said for me to give you a hug.  Now that I'm running my mouth about Sheila's business, she's got that cough again tonight.  I was sorry to hear that.  Her temp is supposed to drop to 45 tongiht.  Can you imagine?  When I came in I was sweating all over.  My hair was wet.  Didn't know if it was the Margarita or the heat.  Either way, it was tough.

Now I'm going to bed to watch the Hallmark movie if it's still on, and hopefully, they'll replay it tonight, so I can see what it's about.

Hope you've had a very good and blessed 4th of July.  It is a fun holiday but at the same time a very somber one in that so many died for us to have these freedoms.  We can not say thank you enough.

Norma, you were up late last night.  My goodness, what in the world got into you?  It was a good day yesterday, don't you think?  I sure do hate that Steve McNair was shot to death.  I really liked watching the Titans play football.  When they first came to Tennessee, they came to Memphis, I think while the new stadium was built in Nashville.  I hate that Memphis didn't have sense enough to make the Titans an offer that was too good to pass up.

We had a little rain early this morning.  Happy day.  Hopefully it will cool us down some.  Yesterday was HOT!  We've got ripe tomatoes all over this morning.  Some squash.  Some okra.  And of course zucchini.  I've been freezing zucchini the last few days.  We'll have plenty of that for sure for winter.

This is an excellent day to rest, don't you think?  And about time.  Well, I'm off.  See you later.

I hate to see anyone shot, yes that was horrible. As you well know I don't follow sports. I did see the news on the AP wire services when I opened my Yahoo yesterday. But had no idea who he was.

hi there, been a long while. As far as making millions with overtime.... ha-- not so much! The more I make, the more I seem to have to spend on repairing something, thats the way it goes.

I hope you have been doing well, hope you finally got some of this rain too. Its kind of chilly here today with a high of only 77. I am good with that though.

Only one day of rain, now in 40 days. We now have a burn ban covering most all of Texas. So dry my acre garden has burned up. Only thing left is the small one behind the house. Where I compost all year long until gardening time.

Hi Norma.  Stopping in for a cup of coffee.  Then it's work, work, work.  Just had to stop in on Gather for a few minutes though.  I'm sure you know the feeling.

Wouldn't you just know it.  Today is inside work.  It is a must.  Or I'm just going to have to move outside.  Will be up front today.  But it is cool outside.  Friday and Saturday the heat was unbearable, but today, it is very pleasant.  Our back porch is especially cool.  With the fan on and the wet clothes drying on a rack on the porch, it is very cool.  Oh well.  If' I'd have known this, I might have done inside work Friday and outside work today.

Hope you have a good day and don't get too hot.  I'm leaving some watermelon in individual containers in the cooler.  And some harvest snack cake on the counter.  It has carrots in it.  It is good for you too, plus the whole wheat unprocessed flour.  And honey instead of sugar.  Still tastes delicious.

Also, have you noticed the comments are still acting up?  And my feeds are not showing articles as usual.  I made some friend sets to look at articles in groups of friends, and I've messed up the whole thing.  don't know now how to fix it.  Well, when we finish this project at work maybe I can figure this all out.  It is such a bummer though.  See you later.

I bet Wilma, Elaine, or Faith could walk you through the friend sets. I have mine set where I get notifications when certain friends post. But only one person is coming through on my notifications. that really irks me. I dont remember seeing a new maintance going on. that always messes things up. But as I have told you. I have been eating supper,,,,,,,,,laying on the couch, taking a nap. Waking up and going to bed. Evidently I am behind on my sleep.

That is why I was up so late the other night. Took an earlier nap, came to close the computer down in the office and started reading and commenting. I had slept two hours plus and was refreshed.

I was afraid the fireworks were going to start a fire with all the dead dry grass.

I'm glad it's over.
