I just read a posting by fellow Gatherer, Holly C. which asks the question of what might be behind the slow recovery of the economy and the apparent failing of the Stimulus? I thought that I was the only person to believe that the GOP and the powers that drive it, might be behind the Stimulus slow affectedness and success.
Who has an investing interest in the failure of the Stimulus campaign? Who will benefit greatly in the continued downward spiral of the U.S. economy? Do the GOP’s pundits and leaders rants of “I wish for the failure of the Obama Administration” hide a much more sinister mindset, a mindset that would cause the GOP’s very own to hinder the recovery of our country, all as a means to regain their strangle hold on Washington and the country?

A I thought that's what the Dems were doing during the last part of the Bush era--I thought they were putting our country into economic ruin so they could get rid of the GOP. Isn't it funny how differently we all see things depending on our individual perspective or 'leanings'?
Given that Bush could veto any legislation that Congress passed and that the Supreme Court was almost all Republican nominees in what way could the Democrats have undercut the economy?
hOpe you'll check out my "I Feel sorry for Obama" post at: Agree or Disagree
Mary I will check it out.
Last fall I was writing that the powers that be would not let the Stimulus (whatever form it was supposed to take) be effective. Not because they wanted the economy to continue in decline. No, that's bad for them too. And not because they are Republicans, though many of them are. The Republicans Party no longer has effective power. They cannot sabotage the recovery. They cannot be held responsible since they cannot make laws nor veto laws. They can sit in the corner and sulk which they appear to be doing but that doesn't undercut a recovery.
No, the powers that be are not the Republican Party, they are the Democrats in power and the rich movers and shakers. The Democrats, just like the Republicans before them, are yielding to the temptations of money which the wealthy corporations and such dangle before their eyes. It is the nature of our money to encourage such stupidity. The powerful are like the monkey with his hand full of nuts trapped with his arm in a heavy, narrow necked jug. He can only remove his hand from the jug if he drops the nuts but he is too shortsighted and greedy to do so. Hence, the hunters come and kill him at their leisure.
It doesn't really matter about finger pointing. It's a real problem and it needs to be cleared up. People are starting to hurt out there and the help they've been witing for to be ablr to get by just isn't coming any faster than drabs and dribbles. All the politicians need to get their heads out of their butts and work together for the betterment of the masses.
