SISTER MARY MAMMA
When Sister Mary Mamma
Was raped one fine spring day
She hid behind the greenhouse,
Didn't know what to say,
Just bent her head in sorrow
And tried so hard to pray.
When Sister Mary Mamma
Began to put on weight
And summer shone upon her,
She was in a tearful state:
And Mother Virtue Herod
Watched from the garden gate.
And Autumn dawned so misty
When Mother Virtue prayed,
Knew Sister Mary Mamma
In sin had surely strayed,
And God suggested wisely
That the novice should be flayed.
It was Christmas in the Yuletide
And Mother Virtue cried
When she knew her godly thrashing
Had stopped Sister Mary's lies;
The snow lay crisp and virgin
And no angels came and sighed,
Just starlight and a flaying
The day Mary's baby died.
And all the nuns, they gathered
Beneath the Christmas tree
And offered prayers a-plenty
That Mary be set free,
Would find her way to Heaven
And save both you and me.
