Drummer Boy Park is located on Route 6A in Brewster MA on Cape Cod. It is home to the Higgins Farm Windmill and the Harris-Black House, maintained by the Brewster Historical Society.
Recently, when some friends were visiting and looking for sights to see outdoors, we stopped by and took a look around the historic windmill. The windmill and the nearby Harris-Black House (an old-style one-room cottage dating back to 1795) were both moved to this site from their original locations and restored.

The windmill is the classic New England machine used for grinding grain.

The upper portion rotates freely, allowing the sails to be turned to face the wind.

This is accomplished by means of a beam extending from the back of the windmill's "head". The beam ends in a wagon wheel.

Here is a view from the back.

The park also features a playground, plenty of open space, and a beautiful view of the saltmarshes and Cape Cod Bay. It's a great picnic spot of you're out exploring the Cape.

I am familiar with the area but don't think I have ever noticed this windmill. Looks like an interesting place to visit.
