The Treasury of Tried and True Tonsil
Tangling Tongue Twisters
"A skunk sat on a stump and thunk the stump stunk, but the stump thunk the skunk stunk."
When I hear this particular tongue twister, I see my grandfather saying this to his grandkids (us!). He was quite a guy. He loved little children. His slightly stooped shoulders, gnarled hands and whisps of hair never frightened them off...he had the kindest face. And even in his '70's and '80's, he could outdo us all at tongue twisters. But it was a heck of a lot of fun trying anyway.
Want some more? Today's educational freebie has 6 fun-filled pages of them available at this website. They are offered on a pdf ebook from the Erskine family. The collection includes what the Guinnes Book of World Records claims is the hardest tongue-twister in the English language. Check it out to find what this is. Do you think it's the hardest?
Oh, and you want to know what the educational benefits of tongue twisters are? Pronunciation...plain and simple. The kids are having fun (including us big kids) while working on those tongue coordination skills. Just thought I'd throw that in.
Enjoy!

Welcome back Beverly. I missed you. Tongue twisters are the best.
Thanks, Gul. As long as my computer cooperates, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. But it keeps freezing up on me. Grrrrrrrr!
Yikes. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Yep, Paul. That's one of the collection. That's another one of our favorites growing up.
What a cute tongue twister. I'll try and remember it and tell it to my grand children. I think I had better write it down and let them try to read it. I would never be able to repeat it. LOL
I love tongue twisters.
Thanks for the tongue twisters.
I hope your computer gets better! You're missed when you're not here.
Hugs,
Marilyn
