We once were children
Learning our new roles
Making choices in our lives
Planning out all our goals
As the years went on by
We lost the sweet child within
Deserted and forgotten
And so saddened by sin
A blind eye to our hearts
We joined the grand parade
Who has the better outfit?
What's new we can crave?
Fashion, entertainment
Another star attended event
Chasing after fame and fortune
And forgetting about Lent
As the mountain of debts rose
Boasting we acheived our desires
"Get a load of my Porsche
With those great racing tires,
My diamonds and jewels are
Worth much more than yours,
Shall we sip more champagne
Or drive to my home by the shore?"
Is true happiness only where
We arrive at all our dreams?
Much too late do some realize
Their life's not all it seems...
So cold, scared and lonely
Waiting in a hospital room
Money won't by more time
When fears of death loom
Don't wait until life's end
To find the ultimate joy
What began many years ago
With just one precious boy
Growing up to be crucified
To save all his friends
Forgiving all those who
Heartlessly decided his end
Jesus walked to the cities
Jesus walked by the bay
People gathered round
To hear what he'd say
He taught about God's
Love Mercy and Grace
His love for each of us
About making us a place.
He fought all temptation
Forty days in a desert place
He paid for the sins
Of the whole human race
He brought joy to the hurting
Gave sight and cured the lame
Cast out all the demons
Who inhabited the insane
He showed all the Father
Who is filled with love
He was baptized with water
God sent a white dove
His gift of eternal life
And a path we can follow
He said God loved us
Much better than swallows
He said "Be a like a child
And trust in the Lord"
Give up your quest
For things you can't afford
Open up your heart
To the secrets of love
Receive all the blessings
From dear God up above
Nursery room rhymes
Jesus loves me songs
Reminds us to go back
To where we all belong
Back to the innocence
Worry free times of our lives
Where we once were children
Under Gods majestic skies..
Sunrises and sunsets
Glorious times of the day
Rainbows still astound us
When the rains go away
God waits for our love
The repentance of our hearts
Our gratitude to him
For all he gives is a start
He lifts up our spirits
He protects all our souls
He'll lead us to Heaven
Where we won't grow old
No suffering no tears
Life beyond our wildest dreams
Will be the reward of our faith
For believing in all things unseen.
Join and sing with me now
Rejoice in the praises of the Lord
As we celebrate eternal life
What we were all made for
