My youngest daughter's middle name is Grace. Out of the blue today, she asked us what Grace meant. I was trying to figure out how to put it into words that a 5 year old could understand, so I looked it up online and was totally blessed by realizing how much the name Grace fit her - more than I ever realized.
You can view the whole definition here
1. Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.
This totally fits my daughter and her love of dance. We call her Tigger because she bounces everywhere she goes and just can't help but dance.
2. A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement.
My daughter is a delightful child who can charm me instantly, even when I'm angry!
3. A disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill.
This child is always wanting to help - she loves to use a spray bottle and clean cabinets. When I have to work (cleaning the gym) she is so excited to be able to help. She truly does have a gift of "helps"
4. Divine love and protection bestowed freely on people.
She loves people in general. Even though she's shy, she just loves to be around others.
5. The state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God.
This is the most important one for us. We pray for God's will in her life, and that God would protect her and draw her close to Him all the days of her life.
I never really knew that Grace had all these meanings. Now I know why God gave us this name when praying over her before she was born!

I would like to know what she said after you told her what her name meant
I bet she felt really proud to have a name like that.
She did! She started talking about all the "gifts" God has given her - her joy, her love of dance, her jumpiness (meaning tiggerific behavior which I account as "joy").
Incredible!
absolutly beautiful meanings!
Wonderful!
Of course you have heard of "unmeritted favor" in reference to God's saving grace, but about a year ago I read a definition of God's empowering grace we ask for to help us live for and to serve Him: Divine enablement. I liked that.
