Time lies beneath me
Like a river running into the stream
And has no real meaning
Except to keep flowing anyway

I lie down beside time
And wonder how to make it mine
Somehow it just slips away
Quietly screaming in its own funny way

This time I find so endearing
It's voice ever so piercing
And figuring out which way to go
While time lies above and not below

Time sings a haunting melody
Dancing to its tune for all to see
Ever endless and ever beginning
Flowing between reality and dreaming

very nice, I am always in a race with time and wish there was some way to just push a button and stop time for awhile until I got ready to start it up again, this is impossible I know, and so I too am always in a race with time.

it's interesting how we get caught in our own traps, yes. when i find myself thinking about time and how it seems to move like a wave against the shore... that i can not stop... i try to remember that the concept of time is a human made thing. ...and that's when it begins to stop for me. i like that. your poem helps me to keep this in mind as well. cool and keep at your writing. ...and of course... have fun too. aloha.

Thank you Wrick! I try to have fun with my writing, I really try to write about things I find true or things to be interesting or my life's experiences. It's so important to be able to express these things, which I really enjoy reading and writing poetry so much for those reasons. Aloha Wrick!

yes. exactly. our own life and experience - that is the best source to work from - imo. i also like to write the way i speak. so that the reader can flow in their own skull-voice and listen to our words in the same way they would as if we were speaking. that voice will be unique to you. but it will ring true to our reader too. ...and also imo - fun is the best place to work from. ...so yes, again - have fun. aloha.

Your poem hits home with so many of us. Great flow of words. We should be thankful for every day. One day we are 30, seems like yesterday. Now we are filling out Medicare papers. Yikes old age slips up so fast.

Time indeed moves too fast....sometimes, it seems, in it's own way (like it's different when you're trying to get a million things done and waiting in line at the DMV....)

oh thank you Kitty! I think the point of poetry is to be able to communicate, and if you can't make your audience try to understand your message, than it isn't a very good poem, not that I am saying mine is any good, but I've read poems that flies over my head too.
