One weekend when we took the kids to my mom and stepdad's house they decided they wanted to see if they could catch a frog out by mom's pond. They told me that even if they didn't catch one they just really wanted to see one up close.
Here is my mom's house - I think it is so pretty. I love it when we stay with her, it is so peaceful and relaxing.

Poppaw goes along to help supervise the kids by the pond...

Here are some shots of them with their nets, hunting carefully....

Coder comes along to help out....

I got one Mommy!!!

Now she is off to find more...

While her brother puts the one we caught back....

And promptly realizes he is afraid of frogs....

I think we traumatized the poor guy, he just sat there for a while after being put back into the water...

Here is another view of mom's house from across the pond...

Thank you for going frog hunting with us!

I LOVE IT~~~~~ WHat amazing pictures~the froggy looks almost like the mythical prince who wants to kiss a princess~ ;)
Gorgeous and fun photo essay PrincessKimber =D
LOL I think Lily did try to kiss him once or twice when she was holding him - I didn't get photos because I had to help her hold him when she was holding him so that she didn't drop him or lose him. Drake wouldn't have kissed it with someone elses mouth ha ha ha ha he was so afraid of it. They had a nice time and I enjoyed the day with them.
Wow, you Mom lives in in a gorgeous location! The kids look so serious while they are hunting..lol
Thank you Netty, I love spending time there - it is so peaceful and gorgeous! The kids were cracking me up that day. I love getting photos like these of them where they aren't posing and are just doing something they are enjoying.
What an adorable photo essay.
My kids keep saying, "I want to see it again, Mommy. Again." ha ha ha
Nice photos of the kids and the froggie.
Thank you - I am glad you and your kids like it :) I love your photo essays about your kids they are adorable too!
Looks fun. We used to catch toads all the time when we were kids. We used our hands though.
The nets were used for added safety measures around the pond - we didnt' want the kids getting too close and falling in. Lily would have loved to catch them with just her hands. Drake wouldn't have though - I think if we had said use your hands he would have said "Gross" and went inside. ha ha ha ha haha
It looks like your daughter had fun! The pictures are really cute.
Thank you Carla
Another good photo essay!
Thank you Matthew!! I really enjoy taking photos.
I lived for the days I could run around with a net as a child. That last pic of the frog is a good one, thanks for the show!
Thank you Sophie!
Neat A-frame. Reminds me of a Lindal Cedar home.
We always caught frogs with our bare hands rather than with a net.
Looks like that was a great experience for the kids.
My stepdad built the house himself!
The kids really did have a lot of fun.
That looks like such a lovely place! I used to love hunting frogs when I was a kid! Thanks for taking us with you on the hunt ;)
Thank you! :)
A fun frog hunt! That frog had some pretty colors too~
Thanks Priscilla!
That looks like so much fun!
Thank you Bob :)
Lily seems to be enjoying herself. Looks like a nice setting for some quality time together.
Thank you Jerry!! Both kids had a good time - Drake laughed at himself and kept trying to catch them even after realizing he didn't like them so much - he was having fun with his sister. They play so well together. I am very blessed in that they act way more like friends than like siblings. They don't fight very often at all and they usually get along very good.
not keeping any frog pets?
Nah - she is still too young to have a familiar... LMAO
Great photos! How fun!
Thanks!
They do love the frog hunts
I love how adventurous they are and how much they love life. Our kids are great sweetie and so are you!! HUGS!

Thank you Lori
great photo essay.
Thank you
Great photo essay, that house in the woods reminde me of enchanting tales of Hensle and Gratle getting lost in the wood.
Thank you Haim - I think my Mom's house is something magical out of a fairy tale too but there are not any scary witches inside this beautiful home!
Beautiful home and looks like all had a delightful day! (Not sure how the frog felt about it tho!)
Thank you. I think the frog was okay after we left... we didn't keep him out long.
Fantastic photo essay, Kimber!
I loved it!
Thank you Curt
Great photo essay! Although, I am not a fan of frogs, so I thought "ewwww" on a couple of the pictures, LOL
Thank you!
What a great house! And a great adventure!!!
Thanks Bundy
What a beautiful house! It sure does look peaceful. I bet you can forget the rest of the world while you are there :-) That was a HUGE frog the kids caught lol. Pretty impressive! Each time I see one, they jump away before I can even snap a picture.
LOL I think he only stayed still cause he was afraid if he moved the kids would grab him again! LOL Thanks though!
That IS an awesome house! LOL, it sure looks like the kids had a blast!
Thank you Toni
Looks like they had a great time!
They always love going to Grandma's house! LOL
It looks like heyhad a wonderful time.
Your moms house is awesome, I love all the trees. I can see why you love it when you are there
They are so beautiful in the fall too - they all turn the pretty yellow color making her driveway like the yellow brick road from her favorite Wizard of Oz, and it is like driving through a pretty tunnel of yellow - I love it there!
What a fun afternoon. Your parents have a lovely home nestled in the woods Kimber.
Thank you Vivian!
Your pictures are wonderful. I've gone frog gigging in my life, but I've never gone frog hunting with a butterfly net. Of curse when we gigged them, we fried and ate their legs.
Your children will have memories and stories to tell the rest of their lives. Thanks for sharing.
I have also been frog gigging and fried up their legs for food when I was much younger.
Don't know what got the kids started doing things this way at Grandma's house. I think it is her catch and release policy! LOL MUCH harder to release them after a gigging! LOL
Such a pretty house! Looks like it would be a great place to visit. Great photos! :)

Looked such fun.
Yep Lily is a little tomboy sort of - she likes frogs and soccer and climbing things but she is also a girly girl with her ballet and fear of all bugs even tiny ants and flies. LMAO she is very well balanced I think! LOL
Thanks for stopping by to comment - I enjoy you - your posts and your outlook on things!
Well, I too am a Girly girl!! Got my Smokey for things that fly or crawl, he's very good at that and ensured himself a lifetime of unlimited treats for it, lol, no doubt, she's very well balanced. Don't want her crying for a 'knight' at every flat tire!!
You are unique then too, my outlook is something few get and even fewer actually enjoy. I've never hurt anyone though so I figure All Good, Thank You!
Hm... I was also thinking that if the frog had gotton a kiss, it might not be so traumatized.
