Happy Birthday America

Once again we gather to celebrate the birthday of the Red, White and Blue. But somehow with all the turmoil that is occurring throughout the world, this 4^th of July seems a little more important to me, somehow this year I am thanking God a little more for the freedoms I enjoy each and every day as a citizen of the greatest country on the face of this Earth. So what makes us the envy of the rest of the world? What makes us the destination of those seeking for a better life or those seeking to escape injustices and subjugation? I feel the answer is simple as this site; I like to call our Gather Universe.

Gather is a perfect illustration of the way we as a society can feel free to exchange ideas, view points, promote or campaign against this or that political agenda and at the end of the day we are all still Americans. Like I am fond of saying, “I will fight by your side, even if you’re a Republican.” In other words, despite not agreeing with everything or at times anything my fellow Gathers or neighbors have to say, I will always fight for their right to express themselves. That is exactly what makes us great and that is exactly why the enemies of Freedom are so afraid of us.

So this weekend, as you turn that steak on your grill, as you watch the fireworks explode in the night sky, say a little prayer and remember those who at this very moment are in a struggle to gain what we at times take for granted. Remember at the end of the day we live in the greatest country in the world. God Bless America.
