I seen the movie it was a good one.

My first car was a white 4 door Chevette. I called it my "Vette"! It was vandalized at work several times, with someone smashing the drivers side window two different times, and slashing all four tires once. Turns out the ex girlfriend of the former owner thought I was the new girlfriend! The cops set her straight...And I got a new car. A Datsun 280Z. Bought it from my Senior English Teacher and it ROCKED! I loved to drive fast in that car!

Littlefrog TN Jul 10, 2009, 5:26pm EDT

I got my first car when I was 16, it was 1998,my car was a 1987 Nissan Sentra, it was a stick shift. My dad came in the living room and pointed out the window, he said "you like that car?" and I squeeled "YES!" and he said "learn how to drive it and it is yours". I burnt through the clutch plate in the first week, but I learned how to drive it on my own!

I still miss my first car! It wasn't anything special to look at. Just a 1985 Ford Tempo, but that little car was the best! I once flipped it in an accident on the way to Minnesota and once it was pulled out of the ditch, it started right up! After a few repairs, it kept going for a few years after that too! Ended up selling it to a guy who was going to use it in a music video his band was doing. THey were going to demolish it with sledge hammers. Didnt hear if they ever did, but that was a good car.

My first car was a light green 1961 vw bug. I named him Ralph because that was the sound he made when I turned over the key. Ralllllllllpppppppphhhhhhhh! I purchased the car and had to learn how to drive it because I only knew how to drive an automatic at the time. I grinded many a gear and brunt out a clutch or two. I loved my Ralph he dided a horrible death when I forgot to oil him. Big flames came out of the exchaust pipe and the engine blew.

Bunny B. Jul 1, 2009, 4:16pm EDT

I did that too. I had an oil leak and I had forgotten to put oil in and all the moving parts froze in place! I was thankful that I was just a few yards from home!!

My first car was a tank! A 1979 Plymouth Gran Fury that was a "hand me down" from my parent when they purchased a new car. The most memorable moment with the car was eight of us cramming in to go the drive in. Neither the car or the drive in are in existance now. Good times!

My first car was a Dodge Shadow - old, worn-out, sorta turquoise in color with rusty spots. The hood was terrible, so my dad and I covered the windshield and headlights with newspaper one evening and covered it in primer. After that it was turquoise with a gray hood. LOL My sister and I named the car "Bamudahas". She had absolutely no power and we had to drive up this huge West Virginia mountain to get to school each day. It took us forever and other people in better cars or much more powerful trucks would pass us. Humiliating! Up until about two years ago my mom and dad still had that car. Good ol' Bamudahas.

I didn't even get my driver's license till I turned twenty. I took driver's ed because I had been frightened by driving ever since an accident I got into with my grandmother, Mima over many years ago.

So, I took all my lessons, got my license, and bought my first car. It was a Dodge Shadow. I made about three payments before I totalled it. I was at a flashing red light, around midnight. I went across a street I've never driven before.
And, well, I got sideswiped.

Not a very great memory, If I say so myself.
My next car was a Dodge Spirit. And, two years after getting it, everything seemed to go wrong with it. It wouldn't stop stalling. The air conditioner quit. The brakes went out. You name it.

Now, it's been sold to a junkyard for $150.

My first car was a 1971 Mercury Capri, bright yellow! LOL... I promptly traded it in for something more my style at the time, a 1981 Nissan 200sx.

The first car I ever drove was 1986 Pontiac 6000, but my first car that was mine was 1993 Chevy Cavalier. What I remember the most about the Pontiac 6000 was when the car stalled on I-80 in Pensylvania and neither of my parents believed me that it happened. Until my mother used the car and it stalled on Route 6 near a mall, HEAVY TRAFFIC!!!

I love that movie, it's one of my favs! My first car was a lime green Opal stationwagon. I got it when I got my drivers license at 21 and had my daughter (she was 4). My parents helped me buy it. It was a stick shift and I loved that car! My daughter and I took some long road trips, couple of trips to Northern California to visit the sites, zoo in Sacramento and my grandmother was up near Redding.

My first car was a truck. It was a Dodge Dakota with a V8 engine which is unusal. Unfortunately, I wrecked it three times while driving when I was younger. The truck got handed down to my sister and brother when they learned to drive. The first car I ever owned myself was a Green Pontaic Grand Am which I still have. It was new when I bought it and now its on its last leg. I hate to give it up because of all the memories I have made in it.

I still have my first car, 1995 Mercury Cougar. My mom purchased it for me new when I was eighteen. For the past few years, it has been the only vehicle my husband and I use.

With two boys in the house and one on the way, the Tranformers movie is definitely on our wish list.

Gather wants to know, what was your first car? Do you have any special memories?

Oh my, what a question. I got my driver's license on my 18th birthday, and this was the day I got my first car as well. It was actually my older brother's first car, but he had recently bought another one, so the old car was passed down to me.

It was a 89 Daihatsu, which is similar to a small two door Toyota Corolla. It was light green, and I although it 10 years old, I was very excited. I was the only one of my friends, who had a car and it took us everywhere. No one thought I would actually get my license, although I got it in one try, and my dad was very worried about me driving. He therefore put one of the beepers on that beep when you put the car in reverse (like the big trucks have).

I was mortified at first, whenever I had to back out of the parking lot at my high school, but my friends and I decided to laugh at ourselves and play it cool. This car took us to music festivals all over the country in the summer, and once we stranded with an overheated car. We somehow managed to find our way home though.

In the winter, my roommate would sit with her hands out the window and wipe the windows, while we were driving to school in the morning, as the heating system wasn't working, and the windows just kept on freezing up.

I have so many memories of my Daihatsu, which everyone at my high school knew as Tulle.

My first car was 1983 Toyota. We paid $200-300 for it. It was all banged. But it ran. My dream car would be 1969 Ford Mustang fastback!

My first car was a Buick Skylark. My parents thought I would pick a Fiero cause I was still a teen in high school and thought I'd want a flashy kind of car. But, I chose the Skylark because it was more mature....like me! I had to make the payment because I was working at the McDonalds and had to learn about finances.

My first car was a Toyota Corolla. It completely died around 60,000miles and no one could figure out what was wrong with it. It spent a whole month at a Toyota dealership before they finally got it started by replacing the computer.

I got my first car in high school, and it was a used two-door Volvo sedan that was memorable because it was pea green! It was definitely unique and no one had one like it! We called it the "Green Pea." I loved it though because it was mine and everyone knew it was mine. I didn't mind the color at all! I was just happy to have a car given to me by my parents that I didn't have to pay for!

Of course my then boyfreind crashed and totaled it. Oh yeah I married him and had 2 kids. And now we are divorced. I should've learned from the Lincoln!

My first car was a light blue 1990 Ford Tempo. It was quite a piece of work! I remember it being a very well-maintained car when I received it, but after a few years it was falling apart. I had bumper stickers all over the back, from my Christian "Got Jesus?" to my strange ones which I still don't understand. The locks and windows broke at some point or another from the bad-choice friends I had, wrestling in the car, smoking - and - if they were angry at me they would put burn marks in the back of the seat.

When I enlisted with the Navy I donated that car to the Purple Heart society for parts. It was quite a lesson learned. That car probably would have had a longer life if I hadn't let the wrong people in the car, and trashed it myself with my own bad/messy choices. I will never let a car deteriorate like that again.

Michelle C (faithhopelove20) Jul 1, 2009, 4:53pm EDT

I learned a lot about fixing cars from all the break downs and flat tires I had in the few years I owned that car. I knew everything about batteries, alternators, belts, what the coolant and oil did . . . then my transmission went and somehow we were able to get it replaced from a family friend with no labor costs.

My first car was a 1994 collector's edition white Mustang convertible. (I'm a youngin' around and the car wasn't brand new when I owned it). I loved the car, although I didn't really get to ever have the top down. I practically lived out of the car because of working so much. My main memory of it, though, was losing it when I was hit by a semi-truck. I was okay, but I was p*ssed that my car had been hit more than anything. The insurance company totaled it and I bought it back because it was only the back end on one side that was really damaged, but later sold it because I needed a more efficient car. I really miss having it.

I got my first car as a Christmas present in 1987. It was a gift for me and my brother (who did not have his license then) from our parents. It was a 1972 Catalina Convertable. Competition orange in color. My brother used to armor-all the black vinyl bench seat and steering wheel when he would borrow it once he got his license because I told him since I was paying for the gas and insurance, that he had to clean it if he took it out.

I received my first car, a 1968 Cougar, as a graduation gift...in '76. It was one of the old ones with the long front end and hideaway headlights..I thought I was uber cool. I remember driving it, wih a pal from Columbus, Ohio to Boston, Mass., that summer as a good friend was up there training the staff of the first "Wendy's" to open in the Boston area. Needless to say, we made a wild five day weekend of it, as Mass. was an "18 state" at the time, so we spent those few days half lit . I had the car for two years, and NEVER did get all the sand from Nantasket beach out of the back, or the smell of old spilled beer...ick!

My first car was a '74 Firebird... No special memories attached. I watched it die a slow and painful death over the next twelve years. Oh, and my second husband said he loved me not long after we met... but I suspect it was actually the car he was after. He never did forgive me for getting rid of it.

FORD stand for Fix or repair daily

FORD stands for Found on road dead.

I got my first car when I was 15 years old. My parents bought it for me, it was a BRIGHT ORANGE VW Bug with leather seats and a sunroof. It would BAKE you in the summer and FREEZE you in the winter!

Only one other friend had a car, so I was the one that took everyone EVERYWHERE! It was fun!

All I remember about my first car was that I paid $300 for it. It was white with red interior and red rims and one seat. I really didn't care too much about what it looked like because I was excited to have my own car. I even cruised the strip in it. That was in the late 80's. I'm sure I was talked about but I didn't care.

When I was 17 and had been driving for over a year, my dad loaned me his old truck. It was mine for all intents. I was the only one who drove it (unless I gave someone else permission. It was a 1993 GMC Sonoma. It was a stick, and I taught more than one of my friends to drive one in it. It already had over 240K miles on it when my dad gave it to me, and he had used it to haul wood and stuff before, so it was scratched and dented. It got us anywhere we needed to go, though, and I drove it all the time until I returned it to my dad with over 290K miles on it when I was 20, and bought my own car.

Yes, remembering Bluebell brings back lots of memories! She was a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 and I loved her dearly! I was living in Hawaii at the time and fixing to get married. My boyfriend's car, 1967 Ford Mustang, sat at the barracks parking lot because he could not get the parts he needed to fix it and we needed transportation! It took several months to get her title as her original owner was stationed in Japan but what a very happy day when this young sailor finally had the car free and clear! Bluebell traveled all over Oahu and later was shipped to California to be with us at our new duty station. I am not sure Bluebell was so happy about it though. The first day in San Diego with her was a nightmare as a man walked right in front of us and right into the windshield! Fortunately, he received only minor injuries and because a San Diego policeman witnessed the accident, we were not held at fault. The car let us know how unhappy she was a few days later when she failed to start. It was not the best of timing as I was suppose to report to my new duty station! Apparently the trip to California onboard a ship was not good on her starter and it froze up. Repairs were made and she continued to be my "baby" for the next four years.....until we had to move to Pennsylvania. She was just too old to try and drive her across country. I cried so hard when I had to sell her and her sister, a 1967 Plymouth VIP. There are many fond memories of her...all the travels through Oahu and California. I smile to this day when I think of her.

My first car was a skylark. It was actually my now ex husbands when we got married. I should of knew there was a sign when we hit a deer when we went to get our marriage license, he hit another one the night I graduated, then we hit another one when I was pregnant with our first son. The first one we hit was so bad we needed a new hood. He went to a junk yard and got one a different color then the car.

My first car was a new 1984 cream colored Mercury Lynx...which I got even before I had mu driver's license. I drow it around for 4 months before I had that piece of paper that said I could legally driver. I kept it for a couple of years before Iv traded it in on a Cadillac Cimmaron...then stepped up tow a Lincoln Towne Car. Now, with the loss of a leg; I can't drive at all. At least I had a few good years in behind the wheel.

I drove without a driver's license for about 5 years. Just never bothered to get one.

The first car I ever drove was a 1977 Plymouth Grand Fury 3. It was rusting, had a dented fender (which I made worse, of course) and a peeling top, but it was great to drive. We called it the big blue bomb. No, it didn't backfire or make loud noise... it was just that scary. Road rage incidents against that car were rare because other drivers took one look at it and assumed it was uninsured. The few times there were drivers who did decide to mess with that car, they were surprised to find out that what was under the hood was in much better shape than what they could see, making it easy for me to just get away from them.

The first car I ever owned was a 1985 Buick Century. It wasn't as scary as the Plymouth, but it got good mileage (for the time period) and I put a lot of miles on it before it died.

Now, I've gone back to a Chrysler product... a Grand Voyager... and I love it.

I'm still driving my first car.

I was determined to get a hybrid, and I settled on a Toyota Prius-- the choices were really only that and the two-seater Honda Insight, at that point. With the blessing (and monetary assistance) of my parents we picked it out... and to this day, I absolutely adore the car!

She's a '03 dark, metallic green Prius. Never had any trouble with the car (aside from the typical flat tire sort of problems that you can't really control). And while the milage isn't as good as with the new hybrids, I still save on gas, which is awesome!

My first car was a mixture of gratitude and absolute horror. My parents wanted so badly to give me a car for graduation, but had little money. The found a 1979 FORD LTD that was a horrendous green color. The felt they could afford it and it would be safe. I graduated in 1993. My friends always referred to the car as "the green mean party machine". To this day, I am grateful that my parents wanted to do it for me, but I still laugh at seeing that car for the first time.

I got my first car when I was 25. It was a 1976 Chevy Nova hatchback with a V-8 engine that ran on regular (leaded) gas. It was burnt orange with a red front fender and red door on the driver's side. The roof had been vinyl, but it had peeled off and I painted it off-white with house paint. Then I spray painted a black rose on the red door. Okay, it wasn't pretty, but it was mine.

The interior was white vinyl and was in better shape than the exterior of the car. I installed a radio in it because the original one had been stolen.

Backing up a little - my friend was a mechanic who would fix up cars and sell them cheap. This Nova had been sold to a guy who didn't pay it off. He owed $300. I went with my friend to repo the car and he sold it to me for $250 because we were doing the repo in a bad neighborhood.

When we got to the location where the car was parked, my friend noticed the car had been wrecked. The driver's side was crunched and the door wouldn't open. After we got the car back to my house, we went to the junkyard and pulled the front fender and door off of a Catalina and they fit the Nova.

That was a great car and I learned to tune it up, changed the alternator, did my own oil changes, and got my first taste of real independence with that vehicle. Now I have a Chevy Lumina from 1994 and I can't even FIND the alternator.

My first "car" was a 1989 GMC Sierra Pick-up....and it had a manual transmission....and no power steering that my parents got me while I was in college. I loved it, because a lot of friends could not drive a manual. That meant people did not ask me to borrow it.

The most interesting memory was me driving it in a formal dress (borrowed) with my boyfriend in a tux, on our way to our college formal dance. It was January and snowing like crazy. We were sliding all over the road...and I shouldn't have been driving with my 104 fever.

My first car was a 1968 Ford F100. My dad and I fixed it up when I was 15 and it was given to me at that time. It has had some electrical problems and is now sitting in my mom's shop. There are many reasons why I still have this car. It means a lot to me because it is the last thing that me and my dad did together before he got sick and has since then been placed into a nursing home. I made the promise to him that I would get it back into show condition after the most recent ice storm collapsed the roof of the shop onto it. It means the world to me and one day it will be fixed and it will be named "Daddy's Dream". It will then be used a strictly a show car dedicated to my dad.

OMG!!! My first car was a piece of crap hand-me-down bright yellow Ford Pinto that my Dad gave me. I was a senior in High School and thought I was the cat's meow because I now could drive to school. Back in 1972 not everyone had their own car. Only a few...not like today.

Hey, it ran and it got me places , but in retrospect, it was a piece of junk. I kept the car for a year and decided to sell it before I went to college. My father had died and money was tight. I needed the cash.

Get this...about a month after I sold the car...it blew up in a fender bender. I mean it. After a fender bender, while everyone was out of their cars talking to the police, that "wonderful" bright yellow Pinto, BLEW UP. LOL Good thing I got rid of it whan I did!!!

I'm still driving my first car, and still paying on it. I've only had it for 3 years. It's a 05 Chevy Impala and I regret the day I bought it. It's been nothing but problems after wrecking it twice and a remote starter installation that was at the least a failure, big time. I can't afford to get rid of it, and can't afford to get a new one, so I'm stuck with it until I pay it off....in another 3 years, but I'm working and not getting paid right now. wonderful huh? So meeting my bills is rough. Somehow, someway I'll get that Jetta TDI or Mini Cooper....or anything but a Chevy or a Ford.

There are moments in life that you always remember. For me, these moments are landmarks that stand out clearly in my memory. One such memory was the day my grandmother gave me my very first car, a Ford station wagon. What more can I say about my car? Fins, chrome, hardtop styling, overhead-valve V8's.....everything was excess. I can still picture it in my mind and it does bring back memories. How well I remember the fun of cramming all my friends in it and cruising around town. I wasn't very creative when it came to nicknames - So I called my car "The Wheel House"

I'll always remember my first car. I grew up in an area in NY near one of the most famous "strips" in the country for cruising. For graduation, my dad gave my his fully loaded white Cadillac. The car was huge so we affectionately referred to it as the "Boat". I cruised the strip with eight friends in tow, all screaming and having the time of our lives. The car ceremoniously died in the middle of the strip, taking up a total of four lanes with its immense size. One of my friends came and informally towed me with his big old Ford truck (he's now a master mechanic in Florida) and we were all so sad to see the car go. The engine had died and I got a heavy Chevy but always missed those summer nights cruisin' in the Caddy with my girls...

My first car was an Oldsmobile station wagon. It was called the "Beater wagon", name for the fact it had been totaled in accidents 3 times before I ever drove it. It was stole once, but then abanded on the side of the road. The right front corner was missing, the head light was held in place by bondo and duct tape. Within 2 weeks of getting my license I accidently backed it in to the garage door of my parents house.

It serverd me faithfully for over 2 years before I missed a red light when I was lost. I hit a car, who spun out, and took out the towns chief of Police. That was finnally the accident that killed the car. Over the 13 years my family had the car every member of my family had the car "totaled" on them at least once. But it kept on going.

Gather wants to know, what was your first car? Do you have any special memories?

My first car was a 1998 Toyota Camry (I got it in 2004) and I just sold it last fall. It ran great, and the only problem I ever had was when the battery died and I was in a creepy parking garage. I got my first (and only) speeding ticket, and cracked my light by hitting my aunt's truck...but not too much else exciting happend.

I actually miss it...I think it drove much better in the winter than my new car, a corolla.

My first car was a 1973 light blue mustang. That car was the greatest. I got it when I was in high school, and thought I "was all that." To me that car was the fastest thing on the road, and I set out to prove it. When I look back on it now, I can not believe how many speeding tickets I got, and still managed to keep my license.

Of coarse now I am older and wiser, and slower, but I still look back on those days of driving that mustang and it still makes me smile.

My first car was a 1994 White Ford Taurus with purple tinted back windows. It wasn't the greatest car in the world, but I was so happy to have a car, that I didn't care!! I was on the swim team and was constantly driving people home from practice - so I tried to make it fun. I bought a hula-girl for the dashboard (on ebay, straight from Hawaii!) and attached a bendable figurine to the dash with velcro. One of the swimmers made me a "taxi $ box" that sat on my armrest and collected pennies from the other girls (of course, I'd be surprised if I even made $5 over the years!). I loved my taurus and drove it until my neighbor plowed into it with her SUV....it was parked on the street in the winter, and she mistakenly baked into it thinking it was a huge snow pile! :(

My first car was an old 1960 Rambler Station Wagon. It was shaped like a little loaf of bread. My dad had it painted bright orange for me, and my floor mats were big yellow smiley faces. It was the 70's, and my car was very cool.

My first car was a 1988 Ford Mustang LX. It had around 60,000 miles which was pretty good considering it was about 10 years old when I got it. My Mustang was black with red interior. It was a manual, and there was a problem with second gear- something that would cost a good bit to be fixed and wasn't dangerous so I just learned to live with it. There was a cirgarette burn right in the center of the driver's cloth seat from the previous owner. I remember having fun driving my friends around, "cruising the circuit" (driving a bunch of downtown blocks- one street was one-way going East and the next block over was one-way West). I loved the freedom of being able to go where I wanted when I wanted (within curfew limits) and being able to get in my car when others were riding the school bus. I loved everything about my car- the good and the bad, because it was my ticket to becoming a grownup.

I'm glad it was my first car but back then I really wanted a newer Mustang...or a Maserati! But now I am more than happy with my minivan and wouldn't change it!

The first car that I drove was my parents light gray Chevy Impala from quite a few years ago, before they brought it back - one of the old ones. But my first car that I owned was a Chevy Cavalier Z24, it was 2 door, bright metallic blue, and had a V-6 engine. I still have that car and we still drive it. Still runs good.

Oh boy do I remember my first car. It was a 1977 Chevette, and I adored it. I called it 'The Mad Screamer' because the muffler was crap. I paid $100 for it, and I did all the work on it myself. I put a new transmission in it, new alternator, new brakes, new shock absorbers, stereo, everything. I drove it everywhere, and would take weekend sanity trips my Freshman year of college to Michigan to visit my friends at MSU (I was in Philly at college). I put over 100K miles on that car in a year, and I never took it to a shop. Finally, after 250K miles on the engine, the engine quit on me. I wanted to put a new engine in it, but I didn't have a place to do such a large job, as I was in a dormitory at school, so I took it to a junkyard, said my goodbyes, and cried as I rode the bus home. I still miss that car.

My first car was a 1972 Pontiac Lemans! It was 1978, the summer I turned 16 and my Mom and I went to the car lot to pick it up. I made 1/2 the payments, with my first job working at the local library. What a TRIP! (slang in the '70's!) I loved that car! I crammed so many friends into that wonderful car for 3 great years, till I went to college and half way through the 1st semester something blew up! That wonderful car took me to my first job, lots of "friend", family, and church outings, and also to my first time out "on my own" when I went 65 miles away to go to college! Loved that car! Thanks for helping me to remember that time in my life!

I have not seen the movie. But can't wait to see it~

I got my first car in 1979, when I was 16. It was a 1963 Volkswagon Beetle. The same year I was born. =) I loved that car so very much. Sure it may have had duc tape around all its hoses. And the paint job was not the best. But it was my lil bug and she took me to a lot of places. Even through a flooded road. She started to float along with the water. Water was coming inside. But amazingly she caught a hold of the road. And got me out of the water safely. Thankfully~ Learned my lesson early about crossing roads with water on them.

I haven't gotten my first car yet but my ideal car would be a Chevy Beretta because the whole time I was growing up, my mom always had a Chevy Beretta and she was so sad when they stopped making them, so they have a huge nostalgic effect for me, every time I see one I want to ask if I can buy it.

My first car was a 68 Chevy Nova. I shared it with my sister. All the guys loved the car and it still is a favorite classic car. My sister and I had some grand times in it and then when I went to college I drove it until I realized it was a fast car and on the mountain roads in the Ozarks a fast car and my lead foot may not be the safest so I returned it to my sister.

My first car is going to sound like Melanie B.'s comment, lol. Since she is my sister, that's just a Given.

I was just over 18 yr. old, the year was 1974, when I bought my 1966 VW Bug. It was a faded green and it was So CooL to me. I had cashed in a $500.00 bond my parents took out on me when I was a baby and was good when i turned 18. The car cost 400.00 and I had the rest of the cash to make it legal.

I loved that car and when it died, I got a '74 Bug to replace it. Love VW Bugs!

Honestly, I don't drive and have never felt motivated to, although I do admire a well made vehicle. However, I do secretly admire vehicles that can go anywhere, through anything, with everything! Like shiny new Peterbilts, and army issue Hummers dripping mud! ~sigh~ My only regret is that such fabulous machines are simply not eco-friendly by any stretch of the imagination! Sure, classic American Metal, like a '67 Shelby GT 500 can thrill the heart in passing... but there is only one Prime, and he's out of this world! :) If dreams were possible, Optimus Prime would be the ultimate!

My first car was a 1987 2 door, maroon Chevette with no stereo. The floor boards eventually rusted out. I also put a shower radio in the car so that I would have something to listen to on the way home from college. It was 1 hour each way. My first car was supposed to be a convertable until it was involved in an accident. Darn it.

I remember my first car well.... It was when I turned 18. My grandparents got me a car. They said it needed a lot of work and it was only an in town car. Well my childhood best friend came to visit and she talked me into driving to Disneyland. It was only two hours and 15 minutes away roughly. We were only about 45 minutes to an hour into driving when the car died on the grapevine (in California, it's driving over a mountain area, can be tough on cars). Someone was nice enough to stop and help us. We knew we should turn around and come home but we couldn't make ourselves do it. We made it to Disneyland and spent a fun filled day there, didn't want to leave. When it was time to go home, everything went fine. We made it to a small city when it started having car problems. I pulled into the small city (it was the middle of the night at this point, image two 18 year old girls who hadn't done a lot of traveling alone and certainly not in the middle of the night). We tried to figure out what to do, we ended up at a Denny's and it died in the parking lot. I mean it completly died, there was no starting it. I had to sheepishly call my grandparents to come save us from our stupidity. We waited in the diner, my grandparents got us, took us home, leaving the car there. The car had to stay there a couple of days until they could tow it back. That car was never mine again. My dad ended up buying it and taking it to his and his girlfriends place. I'm not sure that he ever got it started. For all I know...it could still be sitting in his junk area over 12 years later.... I learned a lesson that day...when someone tells you not to do something, you might want to take it to heart because they might be telling you for your own good. Even so...it was an adventure for both my friend and I...

Renda B~surviving the storm by dancing in the rain. Jul 5, 2009, 10:25pm EDT

My first car was one I had to pay for myself. There was no "we'll buy your first car" in our house....it was "if you want one, you have to work for it". And work for it, I did. My first was a Mustang. Now before all the car enthusiasts get wild here, I need to clarify this. It wasn't one of those awesome muscle cars of the 60s. It was the unbelievably UGLY Ford Mustang II Hatchback Coupe (I don't know why they would want to do this to mustangs). Not only that, but it was a horrid bright green. The good thing(s) about it: it was a stick shift (go baby go) and it was PAID for.

Regardless, it got me to where I needed to be and I thought I was cool :)

My first car was a 1995 Ford Taurus. I had just graduated from college, gotten my driver's license a week before I moved to Arizona for my new job. I was alone in Arizona, I had done all the research and decided that the Taurus was for me. I went down to the dealership and bought the car myself without my parents or anyone helping me. I truly felt like an adult at that point even if I was petrified that I was doing something wrong!

Not sure what you mean about first car? If you mean the first car I bought or the first car that I drove? The first car I bought, was one that I paid cash for. I had saved up enough when I got out of the military, to buy a 68 Chevy 4 door. I don't remember what model it was, but I put a lot of mileage on it. The actual first car I had, was given to me, a hand me down from my brothers. It was a great car. 1964 Olds F-85, which was a precursor to the Olds Cutlass. Great car. It took me to college and back many times. I wish I had that one back..

My first car was a VW Jetta. I have many wonderful memories of that car even though it turned out to be a lemon. There was no power steering in that car, but I loved it. It very rarely had a good day, but I loved it. There was something about having your first car, being graduated from high school, and doing things on your own even if your car is breaking down every other day.

My first car was a Subaru - because it is a good snow car and I lived in Tahoe where it snows a lot!

My first car was very memorable for a couple of reasons. The first is how I got the car. It was my mom's car and about 6 months before I turned 16 it was stolen. When it wasn't found within a couple of days, my mom was forced to get another car. But, about a month later, it was found in a very bad neighborhood and returned to us. I immediately began begging my mom to keep the car so that I would have a car to drive when I turned 16. With a lot of promises I needed to keep, on April 15, 1986, I became the proud owner of a 1969 Ford Mustang.

The second part about that car that was very memorable was that it suffered a lot of damage when it was stolen. Not to mention the normal wear and tear on the body that occurs on an older car. Since I wanted a "cool" Mustang, I spent that entire summer redoing the entire body of the car. There was a lot of work involved and I had gotten it to the point where it was totally primed and ready to be painted. That's when the transmission fell out. I wanted to get it fixed, but my mom didn't appreciate the value of '69 Mustang, so she junked it - never to be seen again. That was a very sad day!
