A few months back we paid a visit to Lincoln's New Salem. It wasn't fully up and running yet for the season, but still it was opened and it was a beautiful day so we took advantage of the weather and went.
We went on a Sunday and I had meant to get this essay done the following day but instead that is the day I went into labor with Charles. I guess all that walking we did there helped get things rolling!! So I am more than three months behind on getting this published now but here it is finally!
Lincolns New Salem is a place that Abraham Lincoln once lived and while most of the buildings are just reproductions of what it would have looked like back then there is one building that is original. You can find out more about it here: http://www.lincolnsnewsalem.com/
Some photos from our trip:

This is where they took the wool and turned it into batting:

This machine is how they did it:
It was at one time powered by animals, this is the wheel that made the machine go:

The Cooper shop, the only original building left in New Salem. All the rest are reproductions.

Maddie and a VERY pregnant ME taking a little break from walking. David took the camera from me for a moment while I sat and he had to take a pic of me. But atleast I am in one photo from our trip.

Maddie loves to pose for me :)

Thanks for reading about our visit, and if you are ever in the area and wanting to check out some of the local history, I recommend paying a visit to Lincoln's New Salem.
