Have you ever signed up to receive a freebie and it never arrived?
Since joining Gather my freebie requests have more than doubled. I don't make requests often but every once in a while I will request a bunch of things at once, then I'll stop for a few weeks or months. What I don't do when I make those requests is keep track of what I'm trying to get (until recently). So I have never known exactly what I never received- I only know that I didn't get a lot of what I tried to get.
I think sometimes it is the site- they were overwhelmed and couldn't send them all so they just ignored most of the requests. And sometimes the site is just full of crap and will never send anything. Sometimes it just gets lost in the mail or stolen. Sometimes it's our fault- we don't click on a confirmation e-mail or respond to something that the site owner sends to us.
Whatever the reason, many of us that request freebies don't always get everything we wanted.
One site that stands out to me, because another Gather member recently brought them up, and because they are consistent in NEVER delivering the freebies they promise is Quality Health. I have requested MANY freebies from them. I have signed up for their mailing list and I have read their content and visited their site. I was always careful in making sure that my address was correct and that I properly filled in all of the boxes. But I haven't received a single thing from them. Knowing that they don't fullfill their offers, I have completely written them off and will not be wasting my time at that site again.
That is the only site that I know of that has never sent a freebie.
Although Wal Mart usually sends their freebie offers there have been a few times that something I've requested never showed up in the mail, even though once again, I've made sure to do everything correctly. I even check the box that says I'll take a survey after they send the sample, but they've never sent any survey requests. MOST of their freebies come.
I know there were a few other companies that never bothered to send their freebies but I can't remember who they were since I never kept track!
What freebie offers have you requested but never received? Was it one site in particular that consistently let you down or just a random place where you requested something once? Please consider sharing your own post about freebies that aren't delivered to the group http://workingfreebies.gather.com/ and tagging it "workingfreebie".

I've had the same experience with Quality Health. The others seem to send MOST of the things requested. I've had very good luck with Wal-Mart's freebies...they almost always arrive and they get here very quickly.
Yes wal-marts do come:)
I would say that at least 75% of Wal Marts have come for me. Since I know that others have had good success receiving their freebies I am thinking that they were taken en route to me, or were just sort of forgotten.
Yes I did like when I signed up for the fathersday card from hallmark. I even wrote them too and gave then the tracking numbers they gave me and I havent heard back very unhappy I told them I wouldnt do business with them again:(
That is surprising considering how big a company they are. You would think that customer service would be a higher priority for them!
I don't sign up for many freebies, but I do get some offers from Avery, and they always show up. I get little samples of their products, which can be very useful.
I've signed up for a few Quality Health things and never got them, either.
I've never heard of Avery...I should look into it!
Avery ... the people that make office supplies like labels, inkjet cards, laserjet labels, etc.
I don't bother requesting any freebies. Whenever I get them in the mail, it is very hard to have the stores near my home to honor them. I am having a problem with MnM chocolate. Each store I go to redeem them with my free MnM coupon, they don't accept it. I just give up.
Ugh! That would make me so angry, especially not the chocolate. The only coupon freebie I've ever received was the Deli Creations from Gather and I've received skeptical looks but no one has ever refused to give them to me. I signed up for the chocolate this week for the first time and am hoping that it works just like the DC coupons did.
Stop and Shop takes all my coupons even the internet printed ones. So I do 90% of my shopping there. If you have one anywhere near you try them.
I love freebies. You are right Quality Health NEVER sends them. I have tried so many times because they always seem great. I never visit them anymore. I do mainly walmart. Also I belong to a forum, 'afullcup.com' which people list many, many freebies!
I belong to a few freebie forums but I never go to them. Gather is so much better!
There is another site with tons of feebies too it called www.totallyfreestuff.com
I check its out a couple time looks pretty good but not sure if everyone recieves all the freebies.I only signed up for a couple there but for those who like freebies might want to check it out
I think I've heard of that one.
I have a small pocket calendar I keep under my keyboard I keep track of ( Gather Points ) & freebie sites and offers I send for and receive. That way at the end of the year I can look back and see just what I did get throughout the year.
That is a really good idea Janet! I just started keeping a few notes on the computer.
Great idea Janet.
I never received anything from Quality Health and even posted about this awhile back. It seems nobody got anything from them and some folks were asked to complete advertiser's promos to get a freebie. Sounds like a scam to me and I'm surprised I get emails about them through My Points (a legitimate site I've participated in for years)
You were the one I was talking about when I mentioned someone here posting about it. I looked for the post but only found it after I submitted mine. I was going to link but my computer has been shutting down whenever I try to use the html editor here on gather.
That is where I heard of them too- Mypoints. I guess they don't screen everyone too carefully, especially if they are a high-paying advertiser.
I couldn't begin to tell you. I have been requesting freebies for many years. I know that there have been many that I have not received, but like you, I do not keep track of what I have requested.
I am going to try to keep track from now on!
I sign up for so many freebies I don't remember half of them! It feels like I have received much less than I asked for though.
That's how I feel too Melinda. The problem is how long it takes for some of them to arrive. By the time they should have gotten here I've already forgotten that I ever ordered it.
I agree in Quality Health, they never shows up, I've given up on that site..Walmart however always shows up and I found a few more great resources, and receive quite a few each month..
Thanks Maja. I hope you would be willing to share some of those with my group. If not, that's fine too :) I'm glad that you have found some consistent sites to receive freebies!
Sure Alex ofcourse I should. One good way is "word of mouth marketing campaign" I am with a few different ones, I will do a seperate post for the group to make sure everyone gets it.
You are rght, quality health is a joke. I really don't keep track at all, but know that those have never come.
I don't put in for freebies often, so I guess the odds have been good. I've gotten everything I put in for, but I'm glad you mentioned Quality Health for all those Gatherites who really enjoy putting in for freebies.
:) wishing you laughter
OOO I hate that quality health one. They just sent me so much garbage and I think gave my email address to other spammers. I never received anything from them either. I haven't had a problem with Walmart. I had sent for a dog shampoo thing from one company and I can't remember the name now, but I heard about it on gather. They sent an email saying that they only had 100 of them and were a small company and they should have put that in their ad so they would give me a percentage off on their products with my first offer. I thought the email was nice, but then I started getting constant ads from them so I had to delete my email from them.
Oh and I just remembered last year I sent for a free Christmas ornament and a free box of truffles and never received them. I am so sorry guys, I can't remember the names.
I suspect a lot of my spam is from quality health too.
You didn't get truffles???! Oh...it'd be on!
Yeah, can you imagine the nerve not sending me my chocolate, lol?
What a fantastic idea!
The freebies I have never gotten are Gillette razors. The ones I ALWAYS get come from Walmart.
