Some time ago, I found a battered card with a primitive colored drawing that suggests the card was made in the United States about 1908.
The drawing on the card depicts a well-dressed young man eagerly greeted by a stylish young woman at a rural train depot.
The sign on the station indicates that this is "Brookville".
Because the card was never mailed, I do not have a place of origin or a destination.
Where is Brookville?

My guess is Brookville, Indiana.
After I posted this, I did a little more searching - and found a Brookville in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Indiana.
There is also a community called "Brookville" on Long Island, NY (which was news to me).
Actually, it may be Brookville, Ohio. Railroads influence on Brookville throughout the late 19th Century into the 20th Century helped shape the modern structure of the village. Depots and warehouses sprang up to deal with all the commerce rail created.
I have no idea which Brookville this could be, but I do like her dress.
What's that on her hat? A radio antenna? :)
Are librarians always snarky?
Anyone can see that it is a large wooden spoon.
:-)
?
Looks like it might be this one...where the one-floor extension on the right might be a later addition.
What a great find, Sheryl.
You have a picture of a Brookville train depot!
I wonder why the well-dressed young man is not as eager as the stylish young woman.
His suitcase appears to be well-travelled.
I suspect he just returned from Argentina, after he told the stylish young woman he was going to be "hinking the Appalachian trail".
Hahahaha! I enjoyed Spartan's post with a map of the 'Republican Appalachian Trail'.
You two might to on to something.
I will go in search of Spartan's Map.
Sanford has now confessed (as though anyone really cares) that he met the hot Argentinian divorcee on five occassions - and he refers to her as his "soul mate".
Tone deaf egoist.
to #1 = be
Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
It does make sense, even to one who mis-typed "hiking" up there.
Brookville Indiana also has a train station.
These mysteries really engage me; I wish there was some way I could know where this card originated.
Is there and address for a printer on it?
Or maybe a manufacturers name?

That thing on the young lady's hat is actually her meter, as seen on taxis.

I hope Marion sees this, Beaker, she will be amused.
Brooksville Florida?
Is there a "Brooksville" in Florida, Lori?
If we start including the "brooksvilles" of the United States, we may have another half-dozen likely locations.
Yes Peter there is. We lived in Citrus county and brooksville was south of us...I am thinking Hernando County but I could be wrong.
We used to go there quite a bit.
I have heard of Brookville, Ohio.
I believe there is a train museum there.
