I know that many of us pretty much stick to Gather, but with the changes in points and in my own life I have been doing some exploring in the blogosphere and it has paid off big time!
I entered a
contest on the blog, 5 Minutes for Mom, and won! All I had to do was comment on a post and out of 1575 entries, I was randomly chosen to receive $1000 AmEx card to throw my very own Hebrew National 4th of July party.
Now, I know what you are thinking.....she isn't really a mom, she has adult stepkids, what is she doing on a mom blog? Seriously, you moms of younger kids have so much to teach me about saving money, cooking, fun, the list goes on and on. That is why there are a few mom type blogs and posters here on gather that I follow. I also missed out on all of the cute stuff and I live vicariously through your stories.
Do you read blogs? Most of the ones that I read are about home decorating, but there are also a few book and mommy blogs that I follow and they are not only inspiring, but full of useful nuggets, not to mention great giveaways!

HomemakerBarbi Not only has she helped me get on a cleaning schedule, but last month I won a supply of Wet Ones for the school that Art's grandkids go too!
WeAreThatFamily Cracks me up every time and has fun things to do with kids
FrugalFemina I won a cute apron there last month, she has some great menu plans and frugal links. Also, don't forget to check out Baking Buddies, thanks to her, I have tried my hand at baking.
SouthernHospitality Rhoda is a gentle hand at decorating that I am envious of and she hosts a Thrifty Treasures party on Mondays that makes me want to move to other states that have killer garage sale deals!
I could go on and on, but I just wanted to give you a sampling of what is out there.
I can't thank Hebrew National and 5 Minutes for Mom enough, I am so excited about my win. I did a happy dance while screaming through the house!

Thanks Marilyn, I always feel like an outsider looking in with this mommy stuff. Even though they are older, the youngest is 21, I am still enjoying the heck out of watching them coming into their own.

Thanks Nancy. Funny that you should mention grandchildren, it is the younger of my two stepgrandchild's 5th birthday today. It is weird to be considered a grandmom at 37, but that is lessened some by calling my mom a great grandmother. That laugh and the look on her face makes it worth it!
That is priceless Gwen. I became a grandma at 41, my mom looked funny too. Lol.

I just found out that they are fedexing the card tomorrow....thank goodness. It is going to be hard to plan a BBQ from stratch in just 4 days. Still grateful, don't get me wrong!

The money went to great use though. A hundred to each of Art's kids, (Gotta make sure that I am on their good side) a ton of food for the 4th and after, printer ink, spray paint, bills paid, medications, etc. I also went kind of nuts shopping for the house. The UPS guy was here so often that Murphy gets excited when he hears a diesel engine.
