"Simple little words"

Sometimes it's simple little words
strung together
that can bring a man
to his
knees
bending them
is the first step
It need not
be done
with FORCE
just simple little words
and knees bend
tears flow
conviction
Convicted of this
Convicted of that
with simple little words
You know God works that way
just one word
just

i love the flow of this poem, very lovely and well said
I agree with dawn very well said
Thank you Dawn and Carol.
I get the feeling that all of your posts tonight were written in the wake of recent events. This one, for me, was the most poignant of all of them. Thank you for posting to our group. Hugs
PROPHETICALLY written maybe Jennifer. I wrote most of these poetic works that you've been reading on 6/20/09.
This one, however, I wrote on 6/28/09, as well as "Numbers" and "Search me". I wrote these three, plus others not yet posted back to back.
You're welcome ~ about the Group posts ~ there are MORE TO COME!
HUGS ~ Rene
Like in this poem, the simple words bring me to senses.
Monologue of burnt subjects
Ahahah ~ Poddar! You crack me up! And, I've already read "Monologue of burnt subjects" ~ EXCELLENT ~ As only a Master Poet can BE.
HUGS ~ Your Friend & FAN ~ Rene
My favorite word that always brings my hand to heart and brings me to my knees is grace.
Karen, this brings to mind the old hymn "Grace, grace, God's grace; grace that is greater than all our sins." The other words escape me. May you always be in a state of grace.
http://www.paintings-prose-palmbeach.com
Oh Marie, that is a beautiful hymn. May we all always be...
Oh Karen and Marie ~ GRACE.
God's GRACE is like none other. I probably need an Amen at this point with the two of you here.
In a whisper God speaks ~ "Grace" . . . to our wrongs, our mistakes, our failures, our concerns, our worries . . . For God's "Grace" is a blanket ~ a covering.
Lest we ever forget His Mercy ~ Grace is inseparable ~ The TWO walk hand~in~hand...
"But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and "show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and informities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! ~ II CORINTHIANS 12:9 ~ AMPLIFIED BIBLE
Blessings to you both, and thank you so much for your encouraging words.
Rene, that was such a deeply moving reply and it brought me to catch a tear. Yes, that grace is greater than any dogma or doctrine, denomination or church. It has touched me so tenderly at my most vulnerable and painful hours. I would hardly know how to carry on without it. So.... Amen
HALLALUJAH Karen! You are so right . . . GRACE surpasses any dogman or doctrine, denomination or church . . . well said . . . and well put.
i like this. i like this a whole bunch! the rythm brought me in and spun
Well THANK YOU, thank you, thank you Duffy. This makes me very happy to know that this poetic work "touched" you.
HUGS ~ Your "friend" ~ Rene
Forceful.
HUGS Sharon ~ and thank you. Forceful in a "gentle" way I hope ~ smiles.
I'm glad girl, you have power.
{smiling} ~ Sharon ~ Thank God for you!
I'm thanking Him for you too.
Love this...especially this subtle line...!
bending them
is the first step
It need not
be done
with FORCE
Hi Pat ~ Thank you. It is the "knees" that bend in "prayer" ~ in acknowledgement that there is One ("1") HIGHER than us.
The "Call" sums itself in One word (in a whisper) the Fountain of Living Waters speaks. And when you "hear" His VOICE, it is like the sound of many waters...REVELATION 1:15 and DANIEL 10:6
Just ONE word is all it takes.
It's a unique and exceptional style, and all the five excel though they look so simple...
Thank you Haim. "Five" is the number of "Grace" ~ which Karen and Marie brought up.
Which breaks down to . . .
just one word
just
1
True and well-said
Thank you for stopping by to read this Alison. And thank you for your comment.
I like the way you worded this. You are so right. One simple word, or a string of little words....not even said with force....can be detrimental. It's amazing how words can affect others and yet some use them with abandon, not caring how it brings one "to their knees".
Also your poem is a good reminder...to remember how we all can hurt or heal with simple words.
Hi Renda! ~ Thank you for reading, and adding your thoughts. One thing that you've mentioned that WE should all remember . . .
"It's amazing how words can affect others and yet some use them with abandon, not caring how it brings one "to their knees"....Also your poem is a good reminder...to remember how we all can hurt or heal with simple words." ~ Renda Brooks
The POWER of the SPOKEN WORD. WE must remember to be ACCOUNTABLE for the words we speak, for they go forth to accomplish and cause effect(s) to MANIFEST ~ and as you've mentioned, that can be GOOD or BAD ~ HURTFUL or HEALING.
WE needed your gentle reminder Renda...Thank you ~ l o l.
Very beautiful poem......I really love it!
Lovely. Words, once spoken, can be taken back but more often than not, they leave a dark uneraseable shadow in their place. Nicely done, Rene.
Thank you for reading and commenting Nora and Marie.
Marie ~ I like what you've shared about "Words, once spoken..." . . .
You are so right ~ they can be taken back (in some cases) BUT more often than not, (when words are HURTFUL, DAMAGING, and SAID WITH RECKLESS and CARELESS force) -- they do in fact leave a dark uneraseable shadow in their place ~ SO TRUE Marie.
And KNOWING that WE will ALL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE for EVERY IDLE word, it may serve us well to choose TODAY to be mindful of what we say.
Good to SEE you and have your thoughts as always.
Your Friend ~ Rene
... beautifully & powerfully simple!
Thank you very much for stopping by to read this c l. mareydt!
... like i mentioned ... i am a fan now! thank you!
ahahah ~ THANK YOU c.i. ~ And, BIG HUGS . . . You know you captured my interest with your FREE BOOK read here on Gather. GREAT TOPIC you zeroed in on with your book. Glad to know you are around here spreading some "Salt & Light."
Your Friend ~ Rene
Very poingnant and well written
Thanks you for viewing and commenting Nurse Nancy!
I love that! very nicely done and so true
Thank you much Renita!
Convicted of this
Convicted of that"
indeed.
sometimes a person will develop a lifelong habit of throwing words because after all any word can be reneged on..., and answer questions with abandon, expect to be absolved of commitments freely made because "it's just the way I am", instead of making *any* effort to follow thru on the 'simple little words' thrown around with such a lack of caring.
everyone does it at some point, but beyond the age of 16 most are careful when the points are stressful, hurtful of others trying their utmost, and involving third parties depending on them to follow thru on the 'simple little words'
Hi Doc ~ Good to SEE you. Haven't seen you around much.
Good points you've made. On this part of your comments . . .
"everyone does it at some point, but beyond the age of 16 most are careful when the points are stressful, hurtful of others trying their utmost, and involving third parties depending on them to follow thru on the 'simple little words'" ~ Doc
Could just be me Doc, but I'm finding that beyond the age of 16 has nothing to do with inconsideration these days. And, although WE all would probably like to think that people are singularly focused on what they are saying at any given time and beyond, WE know that LIFE sometimes is just not like that, and neither are people.
The BEST that WE can do is to do the BEST that we can do with regard to our own personal "simple little words". After all, we each will be held accountable for "every idle word", and no one else will STAND in our shoes at that time.
Thank you very much for commenting!
Rene, you made me cry a bit (or is that just my state of mind tonight that did that?). G-D works in many ways.
Oh Chana ~ Oh my goodness. For some reason, I seem to have that effect on people (L O L). I hope that it was a cleansing cry ~ a healing cry ~ a cry that refreshes, renews, and strengths your inner woman. When prayers go UP, BLESSINGS come down ~ like rain showers you know. You are in my prayers. I was reading your Article yesterday, and I realized that you were speaking for so many other women. Everywhere I turn -- just KNOW that you are certainly never alone.
Your Friend ~ Sending HUGS,
Rene
You sound so sad. I hope it's just a poem and not a reality. No one likes to be brought to their knees. I hope you are okay and just in a sad poetry mood.
Ahahaha ~ Lee ~ I had to go back and re-read this poetic work to SEE if there was any "sadness" in it. No. I'm not sad. I don't think it sounds sad. Does it?
Sometimes being brought to ones knees is the beginning of getting to the REAL ISSUES, the REAL CORE of what LIFE is really about. This was written not so much from an inward stance, as from an outer stance ~ meaning that there are people who are carrying on in "foolishness", and at some point, there has to be a reflection (ready or not) ~ as in a "flexing" of the knees. People who don't "bend" ~ "BREAK"...
Take for example the case of "infidelity"... read this work from that standpoint
Or "disregard" of the "feelings" and "emotions" of Family when one continues to do things that "hurt".
Then, tell me what you think.
HUGS to you Lee!
Awwww, well it makes me sad that someone has to be (or should be) brought to their knees for any reason. (So I assumed you were sad since it made me sad.) This implys (to me) that something bad needs to be changed. Other than being brought to their knees by a word one can voluntairly bend their own knees in voluntary prayer and worship, this is a good thing. Maybe. Depends on what you are wroshiping.
I remember telling you in another comment for another poem that I'm not good at reading poetry but I keep reading. "Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm still trying to understand you." Maybe you'll bring me to my knees poetry wise - LOL. Little words can also make soneone stand tall. Good job. Way to go. I love you. You are so special, Woo Hoo!.......Little words.
I like you.
{Smiles Lee}... Sometimes, people being brought to their knees before God is a VERY GOOD THING. I hope that this poem does not make the Reader sad, it was really not my intention to do that ~ but rather to make the Reader "think"...
You're right about the intent of this poetic when you said, "This implys (to me) that something bad needs to be changed." ~ Lee P.
Yes ~ True. Whenever a person is "convicted of this or convicted of that" ~ it implies "guilt" about something or for something. Conviction only occurs when there is TRUTH that hits the "heart" and bends the knees. Then the "tears" flow, because the person is being "cleansed" and "forgiven". Sometimes it means that WE have to LEARN to FORGIVE ourselves for things, "thoughts", "actions", "motives", "intentions"... WE also have to LEARN to "think" before we ACT or SPEAK. Be MATURE about what we are doing or saying at any given time..."reflect" on the spot.
G-d KNOWS our hearts. "HURT FEELINGS" rest on the shoulders of those who caused the "hurt". And, I have to honestly say that sometimes things will BOOMERANG BACK to a person...A person who "thinks" wrongly about someone who has a very "honest heart", and who means no harm whatsoever is not deserving of another person's venom. In those cases, I sincerely believe that a persons who harms someone on purpose and intentionally will pay the price. The stop gap is bent knees. This is the place wherein wrong actions, intentions, thoughts, and yes, ABUSIVE WORDS can be corrected.
I really don't want to bring you to your knees poetry wise Lee ~ L O L... I guess I SEE what you mean about how this poetic can possibly make you or other Readers sad when thinking of a person being brought to their knees.
THANK YOU so much for adding this . . .
"Little words can also make soneone stand tall." ~ Lee P.
BRAVO to that!
...and thank you for your very kind words and honesty regarding this poetic.
Your Friend,
Rene

Rene
Oh Angela ~ and your GRAPHICS change! HOW AWESOME ~ Loving the ankh!
Very well put, great job.
Thank you Pam!
I like the artistic flow from the visual which begins your poem to the altering of the font size, through the shape of the poem. But whether the word 'force' was written large it would in itself be "a, writ large," effect simply by the power of the word. Force, I would think is a word most folks cringe at the mere mention. Powerful poem.
Hi Benita ~ I like your "mind" ~ interesting OBSERVATION. You're right about the word force. It was a VISUAL overkill to make the Reader think about the method ~ needful or not?
Thank you so much for adding your input.
Bending (asking) is very hard for me. I try to "tough it out". And boy do I make mistakes. And I have no one to blame but me.
Jan
Hi Jan ~ Somehow I can't even picture it being hard for you to "ask" for anything. If only ~ you ask yourself. You're a very strong person, and also a very honest person. Not to mention the fact that you are a very BLESSED person. ~ {smiles}
This poetic is about "bending" when one has failed to acknowledge that there is One HIGHER than "self" and "self interest that harm others".
WE ALL may ASK G-d what we will, and he hears us. WE ALL make mistakes as you have pointed out. Those mistakes are sometimes without "blame", but with the attitude of LEARNING from our mistakes. SEEKING to make ourselves BETTER... is very admirable.
I thank you for what you added here Jan.
Nice, Renee. I must say, simple and to the point. Honest and true.
~Standing Ovation~
Thanks Carrie and Penni. I'm glad you both stopped by to read and comment on this poetic!
HUGS to you both.
Beautiful! A strong message in few words, even some "little ones."
Hi Trish ~ smiles, and thanks. Good to SEE YOU!
Your Friend,
Rene
Simply pure sweet - love.
Thanks Ruth. {Smiles} ... I like how you so softly comment in kindness. ~ L O L.
Your words warrant the response m'dear friend...smiles.
HUGS to you ARTISTIC ONE!
I love your sense of humor Ruth. Coming over to your place.... {Putting on my swim suit} ...
The I is always heavier than the we or us not matter how singular afterall its a simple little word...Nice post!
Yes, yes, Sonia ~ THE 1 carries MUCH WEIGHT indeed...
Within the ONE is ALL. And, ALL can be summed up in just 1 word that breaks down to the spiritual energy contained in each one of "us" ~ The "WE".
No matter how WE spin the "WE" ~ the "US" ~ the "I" around, they all = 1.
HUGS ~
Your Friend ~ Rene
So neat to read and to look at. Nice job.
Hey Sheila! ~ L O L ~ Thanks my Sister.
I just love your name.
I will be ENCOURAGED by your words ~ thank you!
Terry ~ Smiles & HUGS.
I've always equated the "1" word to God calling our name. As God KNOWS each and every one of us intimately. When God called Samuel, It was just 1 word that moved Samuel into position, AWAKENED his UNDERSTANDING, and propelled him forward -- His first name...
"When the Lord called, Samuel! And he answered, Here I am." ~ 1 SAMUEL 3:4 ~ AMPLIFIED BIBLE
When the Lord calls, whether on bended knee, lying down, at the alter, in pools of tears, in whatever state we may find ourselves, may WE HEAR, and Let us say "Here I am."
Blessings to you Marianne ~
Your FRIEND,
