Hello, everyone. I hesitate to post since I've always been taught to let others "toot your horn". But, what the heck, I'm feeling reckless.
As some of you know, I have two published novels, "MAN ON THE BALCONY" and "MAGGIE'S RETREAT", available on my website as well as Amazon.com and the on-line book store of your choice. For autographed copies contact me through my website or by e-mail, listed below. My books are suitable for all ages and make great gifts for friends and family members who believe or want to believe that true love does exist.
I have just sent the manuscript for my third novel to the publisher. This one is entitled "SPANISH MOSS". For this story, and as a former New Orleans resident, I return to the Crescent City to introduce my readers to the exclusive Garden District, the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, and even the picturesque bayou country. Megan Marcus, artist, and daughter of a prominant physician feels she has a charmed life. She also has the undivided attention of the city's newest and most handsome attorney. But when Jack Waterman enters the picture, the smooth-talking, charasmatic Justin becomes a liability and possibly even dangerous. But then, seldom do things go well in affairs of the heart.
This is more than the usual boy meets girl story. You just might fall in love with the characters, and you most certainly will enjoy your visit to the world's most interesting city and all its nuances.
In addition to writing the novels, I've painted the cover art for all three books.
I'll announce when "Spanish Moss" is available. In the meantime check out my web site at http://www.paintings-prose-palmbeach.com , view my books and paintings, read my blog, ask a question or leave me a message. My e-mail is MariePin001@comcast.net.
Thanks for allowing me to be a shameless promotor.

CONGRATS on having your third book published, Marie, that is fantastic!
Spanish Moss sounds like my kind of romance book and the setting is right up my alley too. I am on my way to have a closer look at your website. I loved your paintings, you are a truly gifted artist.
Man on the Balcony - is that a romance novel as well?
Wow, that was a fast response! Man on the Balcony was my first novel with much of the setting in New Orleans, where a disillusioned artist spends a year to study and determine if she can become a successful artist. Maggie's Retreat is a sequel to the first book but each can stand on its own. My books are love stories but also studies in character, dedication, and resolve. Being an artist (photographer) yourself, I think you could easily relate to my writing. Thanks.
Thanks, Marie - I will be by to order the autographed book. Now that you are getting your third novel published, it's time for a movie deal - isn't it:) ?
Interesting you say that. I've been told my books are perfect for the Hallmark Channel. Wouldn't that be a hoot? They only accept agented manuscripts, and my agent is no longer working.
Hallmark would be cool!:)
I see, you'd want an agent to negotiate the best deal for you, perhaps you should start looking around for a new agent to represent your interests.
Rose, you don't happen to have one in your back pocket, do you? Finding one to believe in you is a herculean task.
Your book order is in the mail.
Thanks.
Oh and by the way - toot away! It's the way of the world - to get the word out there:)
ALWAYS toot your own horn. Nobody toots it better !!!
Thanks Peter. I see you do a little of it yourself.
Marie,
Thank you for the reminder. I have been intending to order your first book for some time and keep forgeting to do so. To be frank, I am not a great lover of romance books but since getting to exchange thoughts with you on occasion here on Gather, I am going to read the first one and then press my wife to read it as well. She is probably a better judge of the genre than me so maybe I can get her to break ou of her non writing mode ane write a review for you.
I can say that if she likes your work, you will have a fan for life and we will be looking for the next two books as well.
I truly understand you horn tooting comments and am glad you dragged our the horn. May the blast be heard far and wide.
Best Regards
I am beginning to think that Gather has someone somewhere deliberately adding errors to my comments and posts. It must be so as I never make the kind of mistakes I see in the just sent comment. Oh Well, I bet you can work around it.
Thank you so much Clifford. I have been surprised that a number of "macho" men have enjoyed my writing , so give it a try. If you don't enjoy at least some of it, I'll return your money. How's that?? A review by your wife would be much appreciated. The publishing world is a hard nut to crack unless one is already famous, so we need all the help we can get. (We also need all the love we can get. You notice I said "love", not romance.) I hope you and your wife are having a great summer. Thanks again.
Marie,
I hope you know I am picking at you. I am sure I will be entralled with your work. It is obvious from what I have already seen of your writing that you are one talented lady. I need to be more careful about my joking. It gets me into trouble sometimes with people who do not know me well.
I have ordered the book and will look forward to the read.
Clifford, I like your sense of humor, so no problem. Thanks for the compliment.
Thank you for the 'self promotion'.... I learned something today, and I look forward to learning more about your books and the writing process.
Thanks.
Thank you for responding. Please feel free to ask anything, either here or on my website blog. http://www.paintings-prose-palmbeach.com. Just click on "blog", sign in, and ask away!
Marie, I'm so glad you tooted your horn here - otherwise I would have missed this. I love stories set in New Orleans - that in itself will get me to pick up the book. I also love stories about artists and dedication to art which is such a challenge. I have not read a romance in a long time, but this might just be what I need to break the habit.
Stirling, I do hope you will check out my books. They aren't your run of the mill "chick lit". I thought I responded to your comment, but it's not showing up here. If you want more info. just ask. Your opinion would help me know if I should finish a fourth novel I've started.

I have ordered "Man on the Balcony" from Amazon. I'll let you know!
Thanks for ordering my book, Stirling. Keep in mind, it's my first attempt at novel writing. I think I've improved with each one.
Marie,
My favorite books are huge well researched historical novels, but I think promoting oneself is essential to success. Congratulations on your success so far!
Please let me know when the third one is published. I have added your other two to my must read list (which I am behind on). Congrats on your success.
Thanks for responding, Renda (what a pretty name). I'll let you know when "Spanish Moss" is available.
Have a great summer.
Thank you for the compliment. Please do let me know via private email so I can be sure and check it out.
Renda, thanks. I've made a note to e-mail you. Have a good weekend.
I will check out your web site. "Spanish Moss" sounds intriguing.
Thanks, Elizabeth. Have a good week.
Self-promotion, I'm told, is pretty much what we all have to do now! Here's one of mine.
Your novels sound like my cuppa tea. Congratulations!
The book has an interesting title. I would love to obtain your autographed copy.
Thanks, Kushal, but you need to tell me which book - Man on the Balcony (my first), or Maggie's Retreat (a sequel to MOB). Spanish Moss is not available for a couple months. I'll be pleased to autograph either (or both) for you. I'll also need your mailing address. Thanks so much for your interest.
Kushal, my e-mail address is MariePin001@comcast.net.
