The day started out quite warm and muggy, but the sun was out and brilliant! The temperatures have been in the 90's for most of this week and it was getting more and more humid with each passing day. The forecast on this day, my birthday, was for rain — no surprise to me as I've grown used to it raining on my birthday! Sometimes it rains just a little, but other times we've had some pretty good storms on this anniversary of my entrance into the world.
The skies began to fill will cumulus clouds. I love it when the sun hits them as they just seem to glow!

As the dark clouds build, the white, puffy clouds reign triumphant... at least for the moment!
It was about this time that I had to leave to take the car in for an oil change and service. While on my way, I couldn't help noticing the approaching storm front that was looking more ominous by the moment.

There were soon lightning strikes ahead, but I wasn't able to stop my car and take any more shots or I'd have been not only late for my appointment, but soaking wet! Maybe next time...
My husband met me at the dealership and we went to the store and then out for dinner during the bulk of the storm.
When we arrived home, I couldn't wait to get out of the car so that I could start snapping some more photos. The clouds really put on quite a show around the storms. Those white peaks, so majestic looking, were still hanging around. The weather report was still calling for the chance of more severe weather ahead.

I found this particular formation to be quite interesting. I call it The Alligator Cloud. See if youcan spot the angry fellow! He's even got his mouth open wide ready and waiting to take a bit out of something!

It wasn't long before the gator began to disburse. I took this as a sign that perhaps the storms were past us.
The next formation I saw was one that kind of reminded me of a very famous rock formation
that used to provide a bridge for people to get from one side to another along the ocean down in Aruba. The natural bridge, sadly, met its demise a few years back...

It has been over 100 here for the past few days and I would like some rain :) Beautiful photos. I especially like the last one.
Thank you very much, Renda. I can do 100 if the humidity isn't high (hopefully yours isn't). Wish I could send you some, my friend. Hang in there. Thanks the compliments on my photos! =)
I don't mind the heat really. I prefer it to cold. Our humidity here has been in the low to mid 50s.
I'll take that, Renda! Ours is often in the 80-100% range... Like you, I don't mind the heat and prefer it to being cold any day. :)

Such lovely clouds. I remember lying on the ground as a child, looking for shapes in the clouds. Do kids still do that? pif
Thanks, Jan! I know what you mean. I've done that with my oldest grandson a few times. I still do it with my husband from time to time too! Who says only kids can do that? ;)
