Many people are getting discouraged and not hanging around on Gather as much.  I think I read something about some glitches that might not be showing posts right away.

I have received emails from a few that say they can no longer access Gather......they have written the Team and have no idea how and when they will get back, and a couple have about given up all hope...... 

and the points for viewing has driven others away too......... 

I could not get on the other day, from the Dr's office.

Shhhhhhhhh!!! I think these people left.  I am even discouraged to leave commnents on posts these days.

I have been away for over a week and am trying to catch up. Very difficult to do. Can't read, let alone comment on, all the back mail. Sorry guys but I am having to just erase a lot of it. Maybe a lazy day will allow me to catch up soon.

For people who relied on points because of their financial situations - disabled, SAHM's, etc. - the point changes were a big blow.  You can make points, but it requires marketing yourself and your posts.  Some are not willing to do that.

Kim I don't think you get points for viewing and commenting.  I spent 3 days on gather doing just that, and the most I got is 3 pts.  I am not the type who posts articles.  I mostly post photos.

It has definitely changed.  I use to get all kinds of comments, now I just get views.  I guess it's just easier to view than to view and comment.  Plus it's faster to view, so view more, to try to get the points.  I don't know, just my guess.

For me, it takes a LONG TIME for the comment window to open up.  It's hardly worth waiting.

Yes, Marilyn, that is a big problem here, too.  And slowness after the submit button is pressed as well.

I know, for a fact, that a lot of people have left Gather......it's really sad, and Gather has become extremely quiet lately.......I'm just spending a lot less time on here, as I've been working around the house a lot.....hey Diane, why don't you come over and join norasgreatdeals?  I'm trying to get a lot of stuff going on over there..........good friendship chat as well!  Am also trying to find more "good" stuff to post!

From comments I've seen around Gather people are not happy about the new points thing and  are looking elsewhere online to make money,  they are not happy with other people's constant complaining and mean people.  And some are just busy.

Hopefully, some lucky folk are working at real jobs!  :)

It does seem that the any signs of intelligent life here on Gather are slowly starting to disappear.

not sure  yet I am here  and I think that is important..  I am getting my step mom hook on it,,  yet not sure I want here her,, I can be me,,, 

I am very discouraged and do not have much free time this summer and no longer am able to count on this being worth any effort I put into it, so I come on a little and browse what is new and then go on to sites that are worth my limited Internet time.

Gather is getting ready to disappear.  Besides nobody getting points, Gather doesn't care what anyine posts even.  I flagged several articles because they were in violation and got a note from a Gather staff member telling me not to anymore...let the person who owns the group they were wrongly posted to flag them.  Gather doesn't care what you write or where you put it.  It's like they want to make as much money off us to stick in thir pockets...and not ours...before they go off line...which they should do soon since people are dropping this site like flies.  Soon, there won't be anyone here anyway.  This site sure has gone down the toilet since the most recent change and cutting WAY back on awarding us points.  I'm lucky if I make one lousy point an hour here now.  It's not even worth coming here any more.  If I didn't have some friends here; I'd alredy be gone, too.

I;m getting my points, no problem. It is summer also and people are doing things with their family instead of sitting at the puter....

The part that scares people off has to do with the flags - people's mean sieds are emerging, and it's not at all pleasant.  Gather needs to burn those flags and let us get along again.  Meanwhile, use the delete button instead of being nasty to others!

The comment are down too. What used to get 40-50 comments are now getting 8-10. I am not so sure that Gather made a wise decision to decrease points on comments. I can understand views, but not  comments.

I just got here, but it looks like I may have made a mistake in singing up. I'm certainly not interested in a ghost town.

I think this is another indication of 'bigger' not usually meaning 'better'. Sites that are built BY people but destroyed BY corporations wanting to maximize profits B A M N.
