Cap and Trade bill is going to a vote by tomorrow. How will this bill affect us as we all use energy in some form. Everything we purchase uses energy to produce and if that product is produced in the United States we will be paying more for that product. I only see this as smoke and mirrors to bring more money in to companies that will be able to sell the carbon credits to those companies who are above the caps set for carbon emissions. Who would benefit? The first person I think of is Al Gore. He has investments in those companies from what I understand that will make a killing on selling those credits. Will we allow our Congressional representatives to be shills? I hope not. We need to call them and let them know what this will cost us in our shrinking employment numbers. Call the Democrat Congressmen who represents you and let them know you will do whatever you can to fight them in their next election if they vote for this sham.
If you're wondering what to tell them, here are some points* to bring up. The energy tax would:
- Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $9.6 trillion
- Destroy an average of 1-3 million jobs, every year
- Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation
- Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent
- Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent
- Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,500 annually
- Increase the federal debt by 26 percent, which is $29,150 per person
(Taken from the Weirton Daily Times) "The cap and trade bill, also known as the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, would require an 83-percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It establishes financial incentives for businesses that work to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere by paying them for the "carbon credits" that result from the reductions.
Other businesses - such as utility companies - with a need to burn fossil fuels would be able to purchase the "carbon offsets," which would be auctioned."

WHAT's THE RUSH. Can't we see the bill first?
That's the point. They don't want us to see the bill. They are talking about Healthcare if you are listening and you probably are. It's smoke and mirrors on the hill. We need to know what's happening NOW and it's going to happen tomorrow!! Call your Representative if they are a Democrat and tell them you will work against them in their next bid for election if they vote for this bill. Our voices must be heard on this or we will end up being "taxed" out the wazoo!
Thanks for posting this to FoxFansAtGather
Are we sure Pelosi will wait until tomorrow? Call your reps today! Now! I took about 35 minutes to call everyone I could. My own reps as well as dems who are not totally decided.
Call your rep and ASK if there is someone we should especially call. When I did that I got a list of about 8 Congresspeople who were on the fence. Called them all; as well as already having called all my own state reps and senators.
It's time. The time is now. The new thing I heard today (which really isn't a new thing it's more like an old thing ...) anyway when Barack says yes we can ---- it's time for us to say NO YOU WON'T!
Call. Write. Cajole. .... Today. And again tomorrow if necessary. :)
Thank you Lee for your actions. We need more patriots like you!
This just in from the Wall Street Journal:
"Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won't pinch wallets, behind the scenes they've acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.
The reality is that cost estimates for climate legislation are as unreliable as the models predicting climate change. What comes out of the computer is a function of what politicians type in. A better indicator might be what other countries are already experiencing. Britain's Taxpayer Alliance estimates the average family there is paying nearly $1,300 a year in green taxes for carbon-cutting programs in effect only a few years.
Americans should know that those Members who vote for this climate bill are voting for what is likely to be the biggest tax in American history. Even Democrats can't repeal that reality."
Interestingly enough, some Dems are reporting the CBO is saying the plan will not cost anywhere near that amount. Strange how the CBO on this issue is trotted out to support their plans while ignoring what it says about ObamaCare.
I respect the CBO but I've never seen it be so widely divergent from private sector claims before. I wonder what's up?
We can only pray this bill fails because it means loss of jobs and we just can't afford that right now. It's not wise and it will create more debt as the deficit will grow. The Democrats are destroying our nation as I am typing this post. They will pay, we will come for those who voted "Yea" on the Cap and Trade aka Cap and Tax, in the next elections. Prepare to lose your seats, all who vote "Yea". They will see the anger of the people in the July 4th Tea Parties. While Barack H. Obama says that the big oil companies will not be hurt by this, we should remember that big oil in this country accounts for only 4% of our refined oil. 96% of the smaller refineries in this country will be the ones hurt the most and the people they employ. I've called, I've done all I can to wake people up to what's happening, but Michael Jackson has taken center stage I fear in this pop culture we have. It's a shame, on all counts.
We now know how the House voted on this bill. Now it's time to stop it from gaining traction in the Senate. It's time to contact your Senators and let them know you are against this law that will cause more loss of jobs, more taxation through higher prices at the grocery stores, the clothing stores, our electric bills, our gasoline bills, and it will be the ruination of our country, for what....the status quo of what we are doing now. Nothing will change except what we are paying for our goods and the loss of jobs caught in the mire. We must say NO to this bill.
