Over the last six months we have continued to discuss what we started by calling 'Web Site, or Search-Engine-Optimization for Writers ( As well as Photographers, Musicians, and Web-Centric Artists in general ). Together we followed the 'Stats' or Statistics 1 - While we studied the various issues we encountered. Initially we focussed on the short-term responses, readership analytics over the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Mind you we never really lost track of the longer-term results, ranging, as it were, over two to three years. Certain patterns 2 , significant patterns, began to emerge ...
2 Within three to four hours of this submission readership jumped to the second highest level of the last thirty days. The first highest was the brief article about the State Department & Twitter in Iran. Three Hours Later, Readership spiked to the highest level ever attained ( within twenty-four to forty eight hours of submission or publication.
1 We are going to follow our pattern of a running commentary, and expansion of the experience, using annotation. At this point we'd like to point out that over the past week or so, the longer form or creative articles have been with-held, put on hiatus so to speak on both Gather & Vox, Tumblr & Facebook given just a little more of our time. Heck, We even explored the use, if any, of Twitter. In this manner we allowed, and closely monitored the longer term responses to Gather. Content, afterall, is where gather excells.
