A bunch of Kohl's stores recently opened up in South Florida, and I was so excited. I knew the company from when we lived in New Jersey, and competition is always great. We had one Kohl's opening up in place of the old movie theater that closed down a few miles from us, and today I went there for the second time. I soon found out that when going clearance shopping at Kohl's, it is really possible to get some great savings.
The first time I found a pair of AVIA sneakers for my six-year-old son for $7.49. When my son's sandals broke two weeks ago, we were first able to clue them together. This weekend they completely fell apart though, and since they were a year old, I was not too surprised. I considered getting sandals at Target, and I did not even want to consider Payless as their quality seem to have decreased tremendously over the past year or so. Since I was going grocery shopping today, I decided to combine the shopping with a visit to the Kohl's next door.
Once again I lucked out at Kohl's. I was able to find quality sandals on sale at Kohl's for $13.99, and since there were two styles my son could choose between, he was very excited about actually being given a choice.
We decided to browse the clearance/sales shelves for other things that we were looking for, and we even found a Christmas present for my dad.
This is what we bought:
Boy's socks 6 pk. Reg. price 8, on sale for $4.80 saved $3.20
Boy's sandals reg. price $34.99 on sale for $13.99 saved $21
10 pack washcloths reg. price $9.99 on sale for $3.49 saved $6.50
Wooden windchime reg. price $24.99 on sale for $2.49 saved $22.50
The total was $26.26, with a total savings of $53.20
I'm getting close to a gift card at Mypoints, and I will definitely have to redeem for a Kohl's card, as it really is possible to find some great deals there. I'm a huge JCPenney fan, but I think JCP just got some competition.

Kohls is always having sales.
I have never been to a Kohl's but the clothes they advertize are beautiful. They had a one day sale. My daughter went for me, since she was going that way. She said when she got there the shelves were empty. The sales clerk said they sold out of what I wanted, within one hour of opening the doors.
Norma, I'm sorry to hear that they had sold out. I do know they have all of the doorbuster sales, which I am sure go fast.

I love Kohls clearance. I have bought my last few pairs os shoes there too. We buy gifts whewn they are out of season and save them.
Connie, I definitely have to go back once they start adding to the summer clearance. There was some great stuff at 80 percent off.

I love Kohls, but won't pay full price there. Full price is out of our budget, but the sales & clearance deals are usually good.
Heather that's the way I feel about both JCP and Kohls, full price is out of my league. I noticed that the shoes on clearance are really great though. There were some awesome shoes there for $5, and they looked high quality as well.

Wow the windchime thing was a great find. We have a Kohl's right near us and I am in there once a week with my coupons and looking for bargains. But last week I had to buy a present for a 1st birthday and I didn't have coupons. But I did get the baby two cute dresses on sale for $12.50 each, so it wasn't too bad.
Carol do you get the coupons online, via email or in your mailbox? Do you get them because you have a Kohl's card?

I get them in the mail because I have a Kohls card. My husband and I each have a card and we get from 15% to 30% off when we get them. Also some of the circulars that come in the mail have the coupons on them also. Sometimes the store runs promotions where if you spend $50 they give you a $10 certificate to use the following week. We had purchased 2 of those anti-gravity chairs for $49.99 each which was a good price, and then they gave us $20 off our next purchase. If you sign up for their card I think you also get 10% off your first purchase. I have had my card for about 4 years now.
They do have some great prices! I haven't been there in ages, but I like the store.
I love our kohls, though I did just save huge at JCP the other day so I might have to check Kohls out now. I'm slowly buying school clothes for this fall.
Ang, I love JCP as well, but I'll defintiely have to add Kohl's to my new best shopping list. My son uses school uniforms, so I have to wait until they start having uniform sales in July. I have gotten him a lot already through clearance sales and the thrift store though, I just need a couple of polo shirts.
I love shopping at khols and the outlet stores for deals.

I only charge what I know I can pay at the end of the month. It is worth it. I found 2 shirts on clearance once, don't remember what they were priced at, I had a 15% off coupon and when I got to the cash register they charged me a $1.00 for one of them and 59 cents for the other. And they were nice shirts.
I have only recently been able to shop there, now that I lost enough weight! They do have some excellent deals, but I feel their selection of plus sized clothes is just sucky. I bought 3 T-shirts there and I love them but when I go back, each time they only have the same 3 T-shirts in the plus section and I can't fit into the XL misses yet. YOu got some great deals babe, keep it up!
Pamela, I don't even look at women's clothes these days:) With my 36 week belly, I don't even know what size I'll be after the little man decides to come out.
Kohl's is my favorite place to shop, I find such great deals there.

Those are great buys! We don't have Kohl's here. I used to shop there a lot when I still lived in Missouri, though. I think there is one in Bismarck, so if we end up going there this summer for a concert or something, we'll probably stop by.
I love shopping at Kohl's. Check into getting their credit card. When you first sign up you can get 15% off your purchase. Then once a month you'll get a coupon mailed to you that you can use off anything in the store, including sales. The coupon can be as high as 30% off. Just pay the credit card off each month and you have nothing to worry about. Plus there's usually at 30% code once a month to use on line.
When I worked at Sears, I opened a Sears card so that I could take advantage of coupons and sales that were only for cardholders. (I also got $15 off my first purchase.) I had an associate discount too of course, which made it even better. I only bought what I could pay for immediately, and then turned around and paid it off right then and there before I left the store.
I love the Kohls store too. I don't get to go too often though. Ours is about 30 minutes away.
We have 2 of them 15 minutes apart. I live in the middle of them, way too dangerous, lol.
I rarely go into Kohl's--it's not in the mall--it's off in another parking lot all alone, and I always forget about it. By the time we leave the mall, I'm too tired to go in there.
I've always heard they have excellent deals on children's clothes (when it's on clearance I guess, because from what I've seen in sale flyers, it's the same or more expensive than other department stores) and my mother-in-law is always buying stuff for Elliott though.

Yes,,,and I go just for the BOGO and clearance. I got 162.37 worth of stuff for just $73.18 a couple weeks ago. I found quite a few things for Christmas gifts. It took some time to go through all the sections in the store, but it was worth it!
