I have my friend Purrrrr to thank for causing me to do some research on Theodore Seuss Geisel AKA "Dr. Seuss".
I discovered that his father and grandfather ran the family brewery in Springfield, Massachusetts. It's name, before being consolidated as Springfield Breweries was Kalmbach and Geisel (lovingly referred to by the locals as "Come Back and Guzzle").
When the Volstead Act was passed in 1918 the brewery was forced to close.
