My wonderful hubby informed me last night that we are going on family vacation this summer! It's not something that I had planned on or even expected. I had assumed we weren't going to be able to take a family vacation this year, but I was wrong!
My hubby works out of town rather often and is a member of Choice Privileges. It's a motel rewards program for Choice Hotels. Each visit earns him points that he can redeem for various gift cards and/or free motel stays.
He was checking his point balance online last night, he was vacation planning without me even knowing, and he has enough points for us to stay a full week for FREE! Since motles are one of the most expensive things on vacation - that's going to save us a TON of money! The motel also has a free continental breakfast which will save us even more money!
I've been saving my Gather, ChaCha, Pinecone Research and other online earnings in my PayPal account, for a rainy day or if something unexpected should arise. Well, now I know what that money is going to be used for... VACATION ON THE OREGON COAST!!
I've already informed ☆ ƒåitĥ ☆ of our vacation plans and we have already made plans to meet again! However, this time we are going to spend the ENTIRE day together. Her family might even get a room at the same motel and spend the night, giving us even more time to hang out!
If you remember, last August I got to meet fellow Gather member Fåith βråns⊗n!!! But we only got to spend a few hours together. I'm really looking forward to spending more time with her this year.

Sorry that no one has viewed this post. I guess I am not here either.
We don't have any vacation plans. My husband is working on a big project and can barely even get the weekends off. I am hoping we can squeeze a weekend in somewhere.

What wonderful news! Your husband is very wise to sign up for those programs. It sounds like a wonderful adventure for you and your family.
We will have a big vacation. My husband had the opportunity to teach 2 classes this summer (he gets paid extra per class) and part of the money will be for us to visit our daughter, son-in-law and grandson. While we're there we're all heading out to see the wild horses that live on an island in Maryland. My husband and I both had this on our bucket list.

Oh how neat! I'm stuck up here in Minnesota...and this really is NOT a vacation. I'd love to go on a real vacation, but that's not going to happen this year.

I wish I was going home this year. I wouldn't need a hotel since mom still lives there but with the hubby being off for 4 months without any kind of pay its just not in our finances this year. :o(

How exciting! I have enough rewards with Choice Hotels for 1 night free...we were thinking about going to the Duluth, MN area for a night, check out Lake Superior & visit my father-in-laws grave up there.

Thanks for posting this, Bridget! I have been so excited ever since you told me that you're coming to Oregon again. It is totally going to make my summer, ha. I can't wait to see you again and spend time with you and of course, finally TAKE YOUR FAMILY PORTRAITS! We have got to make that a priority this time, ok? Last time it didn't work out but I know this time it will and what will be a better backdrop than the beautiful Oregon Coast???

I'm sure you will have a great time. I'm going to British Columbia in a couple weeks and then to the Oregon coast in August. I belong to the rewards program for Best Western as I stay there every time I visit my granddaughter. I use the points though for gift cards regularly. In fact, lately, I'm getting more gift cards from them than from Gather!
