Today was hot. That steamy, mildly humid heat that just sits on your chest, and makes it hard to breath, or move. Though we're low on cash, I splurged and went to Dollar Tree to get the kids each a squirt gun, and 3 packs of water balloons.
I dug out the sprinkler, plus we had the small pool filled, and the kids were able to enjoy their afternoon with water. We kept trying to get the neighbor with a water balloon fight, but he was busy, so we didn't pester. He told Gilly we could have fun later, though.
Well, about 8:30, I looked outside, and noticed that Gilly was running around his yard, and he was spraying her with the hose. I went out, and the other two were trying to hook the hose up. We just had a massive 30 minute water fight across the dirt road.
We had hoses on both sides, plus we had water guns, buckets, and water balloons. About halfway through, Nick and Gilly defected over to Jeremy's side. He has one of those long reaching sprayers that attach to his hose, so his reach was a lot longer than ours.
It was a blast, and we all got soaked, and it just felt marvelous!
It was a fun way to spend the evening.

That does sound wonderful. It's hotter than Phoenix up here, and it's too freaking hot to wear clothes, so in the house we don't! LOL Unfortunately it's warmer outside than it is here, and we have to put clothes ON to go out. Now how unfair is THAT? LOL The water fight sounds like a load of fun. Wish we could have joined you.
It was a very refreshing way to spend the evening. Next time, we need to do it when it's boiling hot, in the middle of the day.
Right on! The middle of the day would be great for something like that. Who won the fight? :)
We don't have a hose, but Walker and I may end up taking a bucket of water balloons up to the park up the street one day. That would be fun.
For now I'm just thankful that the tables at Second Cup are in the shade. I should ask the owner to put in a sprinkler system up there. LOL :)
The neighbor did- he has one of those long reaching metal sprayer attachments for his hose, so he didn't have to get nearly as close.
Every household should have one of those.
Sounds like such fun.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Where are the pictures? Isn't your camera waterproof? LOL
Auntie M
Heck no! I wish I'd sat out to take photos, but no way I would have taken it out there in that!
LOL yeah I don't blame you. I did a post of the top 30 family pics today.
p.s. Text your sister and say Happy Birthday.
Auntie M
glad you had fun..
I love big water fights! Especially when the neighborhood gets involved :~)
It's amazing the difference water can make on a hot day.
Sounds like tons of fun!
Spanky, that is so funny, good way to turn a hot and humid day into a cool and refreshing day. KUDOS!
That sounds like some great fun! You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to go to a water park when there is one right outside your front or back door!
This has definetly been the weather for a water fight.
Remeber the toy Slip n SLIDE? That is how we in Southern California spent days like this...I remember how much fin that was!
Sounds like a lot of fun. I remember we had a crazy daisy and we'd run through the sprinklers
That sounds like a great way to end a hot summer day, what fun. We have still had lots of rain here and cooler than normal temps. But today we did get a few hours of sunshine.
It sounds like a great way for the kids to spend the day. There is just something about kids in the summer and WATER.
I loved playing with water in the summer when we were kids.
What a fun way to cool off!
We are having the hot & humid weather as well, but no complaints...we are happy to not be in Texas!
You guys had fun
What fun!!! what FREE fun :-) That is the best kind. People probably think I am strange, I am 34, no kids, and yet I hook up a sprinkler on the hot days and sit under it lol. No AC, you get creative lol.
oh that sounds like a wonderful time
Sounds like a great time!
