Took myself out to the local thrift stores today and found 2 books!
Sort of exciting right?
First book I found was Sourdough Jack's Cookery. It is a history of sourdough in the U.S., something I had been reading about online. It is a short paperback that I hope will teach me a little more about sourdough.
My second find was Chez Panisse by Paul Bertolli with Alice Waters. It is a rather LARGE book of recipies that ougth to keep me busy for some time.
What a great find for $1.50 total!

Very cool!!
Sounds like you found a good deal!
Wonderful...I bought 25 pounds of flour yesterday so I'm back in the baking business.
:-)
DRAT..I wsshoping to get you to recover my outdoor furniture...LOL.... it is way out of my league...and probably cost me a fortune to get redone...it is a vintage wrought iron 4 piece contineous couch set and a table... I have all but destroyed the cushions...but the furniture itself has been outside for three years now...and it is as good as new...
I SHOULD be baking...but I am not... I think I am gonna set down with my new book first.....
SO wht are ya baking first?
I made banana bread and cranberry orange muffins last night. I need to bake some bread. The kids like my low/healthy fat breakfast treats. I use ground flax seed in place of oil/butter. It works and hopefully my arteries are good with it.
For your furniture which sounds cool...can you buy cushions? Lots of places sell outdoor cushions for that faux wicker furniture...maybe some would fit? We used to sell quite a bit, but I think we are just down to chair pads. The expensive part of making your own would be the padding.
I am gonna try and see if the manufacturer is still in business....they aren't regular shaped... or is that simply shaped....
I could kick myself for letting them get ruined..when we first movedhere...we used them while furniture was in storage..well outside...
then I stored the now faded cushions and well heat humidity...you know...they be a real mess....LOL
only one of the inner padding is beyond saving...well as far as my opinion goes....anyway.... I AM gonna make covers for them though ...when they are in non use....that I can probably pull off...
I love going to the second hand store for books, I usually come home with a bag full!
I used to also...but I have to keep reminding myself tha I just got rid of a poo load of books...and Ihave a tendancy to get attached..lol
That Alice Waters is priceless! Good for you!
I browsed through a few of the recipies before I nabbed it for sure...to make sure I could make use of it...well easily...you know me!
Last night when I got home, I had a new catalog from Improvements. Now, they are a direct competitor, but they did have cushions ... and some in odd shapes...the evey have one that's for a curved bench. EXpensive tho.
You could check them out in the Outdoor Living department at ImprovementsCatalog.com
I will look into that....
