While there are many jobs being lost in the State of Maine, as in the rest of this country my job seems secure. I know this because the facility I work at had someone from the headquarters come and talk with us.
I was quite impressed that they cared enough about our concerns that the company took time to send someone to speak with us and asked us if we had any questions. They told us that with our facility being only 2 of the secure locked faciities in Maine that our place and the other place woud be last of any of the children residential facility to close in the state. We are hiring at 3 or 4 facilities our company has in Maine. Matter of fact, I was the supervisor today because people I work with were needed at other facilities, so that is why they had me supervisor for the next few days or so.
I feel very fortunate to have my job with so many people in my area looking for work. The only thing that my company has done is ask that we watch our spending...which we have been for sometime. My health insurance did go up $6. but I can live with that!
Do you feel secure in your job? Has your place of work talked with you about your concerns of your job?

What a blessing for you and everyone else at your work.
My husband's job is pretty secure, in fact he got a promotion in May. We remind ourselves every day how lucky we are.
That's great.
No so for me. Haven't been able to find any job.
I hope your able to find employment, soon.
I work at home......but hubby has a very secure job....he's a union trucker (for 31 years)......he was going to retire.....well, the company got word of it (they are very short on good, dependable drivers, as so many guys have already retired), and so they gave my hubby a HUGE weekly "bonus," PLUS a very generous raise....at the same time....we could hardly believe it, especially with the economy the way it is....soooo, he won't be retiring for awhile.....LOL! He just passed his DOT physical so is good for two more years!!! Like Trish, we continually remind ourselves how very lucky, and blessed, we are.
Congrats to your hubby's bonus and raise!
We both feel pretty secure with our jobs. My husband works at Fords and he's actually getting OT now! He's been there over 16 years. I just started working for the Vietnam Veterans of America and the office I am at just opened in Oct. 2008 and we're growing. We'll be hiring a few more people here soon! We're both blessed that we don't have to worry about lay offs. It's pretty bad here in Michigan, so many people are out of work. I work in the city of Detroit and it's crazy how many people are out of work right now.
Yes, it is crazy how many people are unemployed. I thank God in my prayers for what we have everyday.
Congrats and good luck in your job.
this is my job i get ssi ssd so this helps pay what i cant
Wow, so great to hear that they took the time to talk to you and put your worries to rest. I am not secure in my job, in fact I am sure I will not be here in 2010, I just don't know when it will end. There is a drive to have all work supported by global resources, meaning they are offshoring our jobs to china, india, brazil, and other countries. None of us here are safe... and its not the economy! My company has posted record profits in the past year, and so far this year. They just want the work cheaper all around.
Glad you are feeling goo about yours!
I only have my job until the end of August~
I love my job and it is secured. I did a post about my job also.
That's wonderful. I'm always glad to hear good news, and job security is definitely good news!
I work at home by choice and am pretty much retired. I'm glad you are safe and I wanted to tell you I think Maine is one of the most beautiful places i've ever seen.
It's good that your job is secure.
That is great news. I just posted about my job.
