Garrison turned 4 months old this past Thursday. FOUR MONTHS OLD! I just don't know where the time has gone!
Garrison is also going through some stage where he can't stand for me to be out of his sight. He cries hysterically if he can't see me at all times. The Doctor assures me that this too will pass......she just didn't tell me what YEAR!
Today we planned to go out for a nice dinner right after church. My husband offered to bathe Abi and wash her hair, while I showered in the downstairs bathroom. BLISS!
I nursed the baby, got him all dressed for church, laid him down to sleep while I got ready. It was like HEAVEN!
Since both boys were already dressed, I asked them to please keep an eye on the baby while I showered. "Sure Mom, no problem" they tell me. That should have tipped me off right then and there. "No problem" NEVER means "No problem" coming from the mouths of a 14 year old and a 10 year old. Good kids, but still.........they said "No problem"
Well, I was ignorant to that fact. All I knew is that I actually had a full 10 minutes to take a leisurely shower (hey! When you have a newborn and a 2 year old, 10 minutes is like HEAVEN!)
I got into the shower and began to lather up with this new peppermint soap that my wonderful hubby bought me the other day, because he knows that I love mint anything! I'm telling you, this man is a dream. 22 years married and I still get wonderful flowers, cards, etc. But I digress.......
I am lathering up, even thinking I have time to wash my hair AND shower all at the same time! What a TREAT! WHAM! I hear the wails of a very upset and ticked off 4 month old baby boy.
I open the door a bit, and yell out to my darlin' boys "PLEASE do something about the baby, guys!" They yell back "sure mom........NO PROBLEM!"
The next thing I know, the cries are now much closer. Closer?? They sound like they are right in the room with me! I carefully open the shower door, and there, in his jumpy seat, face breaking into a big grin when he sees me, is GARRISON! Right outside the shower door.
Seems that, to our boys, "Do something about the baby, guys" is interpreted to mean "Put the baby right outside the shower door and run like hell, kids!" Because that is exactly what they did!!!
We got to church, me still with wet hair (most of the shampoo was rinsed out, I think) and they both asked me if they could go join their friends for awhile before Sunday School began. I looked them right in the eye, smiled an evil smile and said:
"Sure, guys............NO PROBLEM!"

Smart kids! That's exactly what I would have done.
I'll make a note of that, Leah.........does this go for diaper duty, too?? ;)
Of course it does!!! I had an alterior motice in marrying a guy who had kids older than me. That way I'd DEFINITELY get out of diaper duty. LOL
You should have know ten whole minutes to shower alone was too good to be true!
I know..........but I'm such a dreamer! Especially when I was able to get that bottle of shampoo into the shower with me! *sigh*
I have been reduced to taking my nineteen-month old into the shower with me, since she and the baby rarely nap at the same time. Great for her, since it means she gets clean every day, but ... I miss my privacy!
Hopefully your little guy will accept you being occasionally unavailable SOON!
He is one of the most adorable baby boys I have ever seen. And the shower incident... Well, I don't have anything to say about that. =)
All *I* have to say about "the shower incident" is this:
NO PROBLEM..............
(and remember, I know where you sleep!)
**Yes, folks, the above referenced kid is my one and only Tyler.........and one of the best teenagers a parent could hope for.........MOST of the time! :) He IS very biased when it comes to his younger siblings, however.............
lol my hubby did that to me ONCE :) aren't kids great :)
I am sitting here laughing. This is motherhood, not fun at times. Being the parent of 3 , I can relate.
Kids are cute when they are little
boys! i know ... I have three of them.... *pif
i have found after raising two girls and then helping to raise my g'son that girls are so much easier............. pif
I can remember those days all too well. pif
I Totally Understand and Remember those days; just like it was yesterday !!!
My Children are Young Adults Now ( Thank God for Small Favors ) but I Missed them at Home."
