It is amazing that it has been 18 months since I posted this first piece about our new boxer puppy, Bogie. He is now almost two, and it seemed time to post a couple of photos to show the dog he's grown into (especially since I got prodded to do so by one of his aunties).
He hasn't lost a bit of his puppy playfulness. A gardening glove that got left out in the rain has become a favorite toy. It can be thrown like a frisbee, which just delights Bogie.

He has turned into a big guy who just wants to be loved. That is the joy of life with a boxer.

We've had some issues with Spike (the little shitzu) and Bogie, so they need to be kept seperated. Sadie is his best friend in the world though, and they play hard and seem to really enjoy each other's company. It is quite something to watch them racing around the yard together in a never ending game of tag. Maybe next time I can get some shots of the two of them in action.

Well he is a handsome young thing, but don't you wish we could give them a shot or something to keep them puppy cute?
Well, it would all depend on whether puppy cute came along with unhousebroken and teething destructive :)
It doesn't seem that long ago that you were posting his baby pictures here! He is a handsome guy with intelligent eyes.
Thanks Vicky - I agree that he is handsome. And it is amazing how fast the last 18 months have whizzed by.
He is just a cutie!
He is, isn't he? :)
YaY! This is what I've been wantin' to see! What a guy!
Yep - how could I not honor your request?
Woof, woof!
Hooray! It's been way too long since we've had a Bogie fix! He's definitely a good-looking Boxer.
He is boxer through and through - you should see how he wriggles, doing that jelly bean thing, when he gets excited. Maybe I will try to get some video.
It's about time you kept us updated with photos of the guy!
Wow... he has grown! His coat is nice and shiny. Love his socks :-)
I do also, Duckie. And he has this single, small white spot of his neck which occassionally makes me regret not naming him "Spot". It passes pretty quickly though.
What a handsome guy your Bogie is. I love the solid body of the Boxer. I heard they have a marvelous temperament.
They are very sweet, and really goofy. Great with kids except that they get so exuberant that they can easily knock a young one down.
I love that you didn't have his ears 'cropped'.
He's quite the handsome boy!
Thanks Muggles - I think it is so unnecessary to crop and really prefer the natural look - it allows them to fit their goofy nature.
The name fits him so well. That's just the right kind of name for that face.
I agree, Aniko. Thanks.
;-)
:)
A handsome boy, to be sure.
Thanks Wil.
All grown up! How cute he is, Tonia.
Well, I figured his other Auntie would appreciate an update also.
Boogie sure has grown into a handsome guy, and so cute. I was glad to see an update and hear he's doing good and bringing you all that puppy love.
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
Yes, lots and lots of puppy love accompanied with the inevitable slobber that comes with loose jowled dogs :)
Bogie sure is a handsome dog!
Thanks Christine - we think so also.
One of my alltime favorite pets was a boxer I found at the shelter in New Orleans. Very smart, and with a wicked sense of humor...her favorite game was to swim alongside me then rush to the beach and dare me to come out. She'd stand directly in front of me and would dodge and weave every time I made a move toward the sand, laughing her head off as she blocked my way. And she did box! Stood up, jabbing her front paws at anyone who would play with her. Great dog. I envy you your Bogie.
Dame Ruth - I am so glad that you've known a fine boxer in your life. It seems that everyone who has holds a special affection for the breed. They truly are engaging, loving creatures who seem to bring an extra dose of joy to those whose lives they share.
Oh, what a gorgeous boy! That is one sweet looking guy!
Thanks Heidi - he really is something, that's for sure :)
It does seem like yesterday that he was a pup and now what a handsome young boy!
Thanks for the update. Every time I saw a boxer since you first wrote about him, even though I couldn't remember his name, I thought about him and wondered how he was doing. I can see he's doing fine.
They're always cute, even long after they are no longer technically puppies. I wouldn't go out seeking a puppy; I made it through my "nephew's" puppyhood, and, amazingly enough, so did he--despite destroying my pants, shoes, and I don't even remember what else.
Actually, let me rephrase that. They're far cuter after they are no longer puppies, because you generally aren't seeing them against a backdrop of destruction (unless, of course, my girl has accessed a trash can).
And Bogie is a very handsome boy. It sounds as though he is maturing into a fine dog.
He's adorable! When I was a child, a neighbor had two boxers that took turns escaping. The poor guy tried his best to keep them in with high fences, but they got loose all the time. I used to take them home. Silly dogs acted like I was taking them for a walk.
