We knew we had to mow, but it had rained the day before we left so the plan was to mow the lawn when we got back. However, by the time we got home on Tuesday evening, we were too tired to do much more than heat up some leftovers for dinner and sit around doing computer stuff. (David, DDO and me on Gather). Then it started raining on Wednesdy... worse!! it started storming. More of the same on Thursday and a little more rain on Friday. I feared that it would rain on Saturday too, but it didn't... YAY!! It wasn't supposed to rain today (thank goodness it didn't) so we allowed the soggy places to dry up a bit more. There are a couple of places in your yard that gets kinda swampy so it's best to wait for all the water to seep in first.
Right after lunch we got started. We have a big yard, and one of the nice things for us, was that the previous owner threw in the riding mower as part of the deal (oh there was more but that's another story). So I do the riding mower part and David does the push mower part around the small trees wth low limbs that I kept hitting my face on. He will also mow round the spruce as they HURT!!! So I'm off making the rounds on the riding mower and David does the push and he's done way before I am because the grass is so high and still damp in places it has taken me a bit longer.
As I was mowing I noticed a little critter hopping up by the house. I slowed down a lot and watched the little baby bunny as he watched to see what I would do. After a little while he hopped off toward the house and into the brush. I went about my business. I saw David come around with the push mower, he stopped and went into the house. I thought he was getting drink of whater but then I saw the bunny sitting in the high grass that I hadn't go to yet. So I stopped. I was about to yell for David to get my camera when he came out of the house with it. He took a picture from the porch, then stepped into the yard. He took a picture, took a step, took a picture, took a step. He was within a couple of feet when he got this wonderful picture. The he scared the baby off so he wouldn't get run over by me.

Cute shot of the bunny
I love to watch the rabbits in the park by my house. We have both the short eared bunnies and jack rabbits, as well as chipmunks and quail so there's always some cute little critter to watch.

What a little cutie! And a cute story!
What a sweet baby. I don't think he would have let himself be harmed by the lawn mower.
I found that a few live in my back yard. Aren't they cite?
Oh how cute. There is one bunny that sits in the back of my yard every morning. He loves to sit in that one place. I never see him anywhere else. So cute. If I come near, he runs away!
