Are you still viewing photos?

I hardly commented on pictures before the change, and haven't really changed my habits much.  I will comment on one if I see it in my recent content page, but hardly go looking for them.

If I have a picture I want to make sure people see, I put it IN one of my posts as well as in the gather album.

and do you get alot of views and comments this way Winona?

I get an average of 25 views, and 6 comments per each item I post.

I'm still looking at everything that I looked at before.  The only thing I am doing differently now is bookmarking and marketing my posts outside the community more than before.  I'm still not getting a lot of points, but I think I'm doing OK compared to a lot of what I am reading from others.

I am still doing what I did before as well. But points are disappointing.

Yes, I will still view here all content just not as much, I will only do so from gather if it catches my attention, but I have been viewing some gather members content from following the Redgage link back to gather, thus making money for my views and I am doing so much better then I expected I thought within a couple of weeks I would hit $2. but I came home tonight opened my profile page and I have made a total of $6.28 at Redgage, and I did not upload any more content then I did the other day when I explained my plan of action. So in essence I am driving viewers to my content, thus helping gather stay profitable. And today without adding anymore content I gained anopther 50 points here at gather from this morning and I was not even on gather or the computer at all I was at dinner with my family.

I saw your post on Redgage and am signing up for it right now.  I'm like you, I don't post a whole lot, mostly every few days or so or when I have something to say.

Minipin, cute photos.  I tend to just comment on posts although I do view photo essays.  It just depends in my mood.

I guess I am really trying to get a feel of what people would like to view. That way I can figure out how to add my style to it.

Cute pictures, yes I do still view photos and essays, I tend to view what is ever on my friend feed when I have a chance to get on. 

I don't comment on pictures.  I comment on photos in photo essays or travel articles.

I do enjoy seeing photo essays. I will say that is one thing that has kept me coming back to Gather. The photo ssays have allowed me to see and experience things and places I know I will not be able to in my life time.

I will still be looking at and commenting on photos when I get the time to.

I view what ever looks interesting for the moment. I have noticed not many people posting on my photos though that I do post, but I still post them because I feel they are worth sharing even if one person views them.

I have been debating about it. I still have tons of photos to share. I have a few photo essays to create.

I guess if itwas spelled out a little more, we wouldn't have to second guess what is aloud or wanted.

I often comment on picture and on photo essays. If I like the picture or the photo essay I say so.

I used to view and comment on pictures and vidoes a bunch.  But not with as long as it takes for pages to load since this wonderful new change, I'm not viewing them as much.  Sorry.

I view what interests me as time allows - the same as before the Gather change - so yes, I do.

I figured people view what interst them. That only makes sense. I am trying to figure out what interest people.

That would be a much more complex answer to be honest. All the things I view that interest me reflect everything listed on my profile.

There are times I view EVERYTHING in my feed interested or not to help out others, but the time to do that hasn't been there lately, unfortunately.

Sometimes. i don't really take the time to view the larger albums anymore (unless it's something really special!!!) but I do view posts with 1-3 photos in them. The albums are a little too hard for me to navigate.

If albums had PREV and NEXT links instead of those damned thumbnails, I'd be able to view more of them.

I totally agree about the picture albums. I do look at them. But don't expect others tolook at mine. That is why I post pictures to my other photos. Than after awhle I move them to a photo album just as  storage place for me.

If they don't do something about increasing the points...and QUICK...Gather is going to lose even more people than they've already lost.  With the way the system has changed now, it's not worth looking at anything here...or posting, either.  At this rate, there won't be anyone left here to look at anything.  For me to drop from at least 150 points a day...down to 10...it's not worth the bother to spend a good 10 hours a day or better here for $5 a year.  Can you say Gather Ghosttown?

Hey, Rob, I truly have to agree with you here.......I'm not viewing nearly as many photos as before.....can't believe such a dramatic decrease in points for that.  Yeah, even posting is getting to be more difficult.    I'm spending a lot less time here since the change in points!

I am think ghost town as well. I am going to tr and make the new system work for me. If I can't, than like many others I will look elsewhere.

It seems to be really working; before I posted that article I made ZIP since the points change but once I put my plan into action I have made a total of 235 points in less then two days on gather, I was also very surprised to see that even though I had expected my earning at Redgage to grow slowly as I have only added the 15 articles that I mentioned and boy was I surprised when I opened that profile when I got home tonight I had made $6.28 from people clicking on my links back to gather.  And yes yesterday a few gather members followed me there and I was able to view there links back to gather and made this money for my views, but I also put those 15 articles into the two search engines as I mentioned too. So I really do not know where my traffic came from but it is pretty good I think. And 50 of my gather points came into today when I was not even here it was  just from traffic to my content. And I have been able to view some gather friends content here at gather but coming in through the Redgage site so that I am still making money for viewing peoples content.  So if you want to do the same sign up and find me over there by looking up chstress.  But one downside is that you can see exactly what everyone is earning over there in there profiles, and I have talked with members there and they assure me that this is legit and that you do get paid overe there for your efforts, and traffic is sent back to gather and maybe gather even gains some new members , I will keep everyone posted but I needed to find a workaround as long as gather points are what they are, and I did not really want to change the way I gather by writing more content daily, so I had to find a better way.  But who knows I am gambling that it works out for the best and heck I have only spent 1 hour a day over there so far just uploading gather links and one of my gather feeds to one of my groups.

I signed up over there...but do not know how to find people or connect yet...I am rusty2rusty same as here.

i still look at everything as much as i did before...i figure if we all stop looking then we all fail. so everyone should keep looking as much as they did before. c'mon, we know your not posting stuff ALL the time. use the though process time to view some other peoples stuff and help everyone out

I am still looking and commenting alot. If it doesn't help me I do hope a least my friends get credit for it.

I view and post on a variety of things, as they come up in my feed.

i have a difficult time finding new pictures unless its the same day they are posted and pop up on the Whats New On Gather Your Pge... i can't even find my own!!  but I view and comment whenever i find them!!  the pics of your children are adorable!

I'm more a reader than a photo viewer, so I'm more likely to open a photo essay than a picture.  However, I am still opening photos that catch my attention and if I open them, I will usually comment. 

I might see them through a comment by a friend in my comment feed, when I check out the explore pages, or when they're posted.  I don't generally go looking for them.

I enjoy reading but at times I just want to lok. So I am happy doing both. I have seen members that have created wonderful photos. I can only wish I could do as well.

I comment on anything that needs a comment.  Not all picutres do, but some.  But not a lot of posts need comments either ;)

I do view pictures....I dont usually comment on many pics but I do view. I prefer albums over anything else...that way I can view the entire album at once.

I honestly don't know what is going on with the new point system.  I just do as I always did.  I just plug along.  I enjoy seeing photos, but won't sit and go through a whole album at one time. I view...I comment.  I have no idea what's going on here anymore.  :)

I try to comment when I view.  I want my friend to know that I've been there to view what is important to them.  However, I do not have the time to view 15 pics of the same flower, kid, animal, etc.  Those I have a tendance to look at the first couple and then move on.  I hope people don't give up on Gather, but I have really noticed a change already. 

I completely understand about seeing the same photo in 20 million different angles. I ue to be bad oing that but have realized I get more views but choosen the one I like the best out of the best. Or a few out of the bunch.

I don't view many photos on Gather, but I can see how viewing will now be reduced following the change. The good news though is that the members that do comment on your content are likely motivated by something other than points or personal benefit.

That is a positive way to look at things. I do wish my connections to look only if they wish to look and not because they open the page for points and never actually see what is on it before closing again.

Minipin --- And, to me that is what the problem was with the "old" system.  People just clicked on stuff (sometimes with several windows open at one time) and didn't bother to read or actually view what they were clicking on.  I did that maybe the first week I was here and frankly to me that is a miserable and incredibly boring way to Gather!  I'm kind of glad the points have changed because at least the people who are viewing my content actually participate in a real discussion as opposed to the "thanks for sharing" type of comment.

I am glad to see the change that you can tell your friends are wanting to see what is posted by a member. I am just trying to figure out what people like to view. I could post pictures of my kids and my mini pins all day. But I know that will get old real quick to some people. So,I  like to know if there are ways to change things up a bit from time to time.

I can see the change being positive. Because I think those who can get Gather to work for them at the same feel they are creating more original stuff is cool. I like seeing original. Just like seeing the same joke posted 20 million times gets old real quick, even if is new to the one who posted it because they didn't bother to do a search first.

Hate to admit it, but I've not been viewing photos nearly as much.....I've decided that I'm going to have to spend a lot less time here on Gather and get more done around the house.........I love the photos of your kids!!!

And, actually, Nora, that is probably a good thing! Gather is actually "weaning" many people from their addiction!  We could all probably use more time connected to our families and IRL friends!

Ya know the two photos I have recently gotten the most views on, are, get this lady bugs mating and my gray icon.

You got lots of views on your gray icon...okay now that is to funny. I have to ask thou, is it because they really liked that shade of gray?

I figued your gray icon was a reflection of the way you felt. I have been so tempted o do something like that as well.

I have not changed, I still view and comment, I love viewing photos the most.

i got 2 whole pts on here yesterday and i was on for 4 hrs and commented the whole time. go figure. i can't change the way i do things. don't have the energy for that. cute pics of the kids

I have gotten about 20 points the past couple of days. If gather gives points for outside views. Well, I will truely suck at that.

Tammie, you should write something!  I've had my points go up because now I am posting and it has been awesome!  People are still here that want to read interesting tidbits from people's lives.  The points are there for the taking you just have to adapt a bit!  If you need some more suggestions I wrote an article the other day that included numerous ideas of what to write about and how to get people interested in your content here at Gather.  Come check it out!

I am doing the sme as always...commenting first on my connections...be they articles, poetry, photo/essays, or photos....then I comment on anything that catches my eye.

Ive never veiwed photos. too busy veiwing posts and commenting

I am doing basically what I did before. Except that I am posting more now because there seems to be less crap clogging up the Gather pipeline.

I view photos if they interest me.  I like when people upload 3 at a time and i can see all three in the "sample" are so I can know if I want to click on them or not.  If someone uploads a whole album of a gazillion pics, no way in heck I am viewing those.

I also like photo essays because it adds to the discussion to have the photographer commenting about and writing about their own pics.  But like if it is a trip to somewhere uninteresting to me, I won't look at it.  So, I still view the content that interests me.  I didn't ever have a lot of time to just do what I call "Sitting and Clicking" so my points have actually increased from about 5 per day to almost 100 on the days I am posting articles.  So... for me the points change has been awesome.

I haven't changed a thing... I'll keep reading, viewing, and posting as I did before, cuz to me it's not about the points.

I try to view all new posts first, then photos, then vidoe. With the newest changes...there is so many posts that I don't end up getting much time to look at pictures so far.

I mostly go thru my friends' feed--so if they do posts or photos or videos I look at whichever they do, and comment when I have something to say.

I like to look at pictures, always have.  We have some wonderful photographers and the photo essays are great too, some come with some very funny and entertaining writing !  I haven't really changed the way I do things, because I always did view and comment.  Unlike some of these people who have been the cause of the changes we see here now (but that's just my opinion)....I have noticed that not a lot of reciprication going on around her however.  I see some people think they are too good to stop in and make the effort on our behalf...oh oh, I might be stirring up the waters a bit better shut up now.

No go ahead and stir it up. I think it needs to be said. seriously, if people want to earn points, than they need to visit and leave comments letting others know they are still here. How will it know that if they don't leave a comment. They may not get points, but they will whe we return to see what their contet is all abut.

I view more photos than posts.  My photos have not been getting nearly as many views either.  It dropped off significantly after the point system change.  :(

i still view as i did before i dont get much points for viewing but if i want my stuff to be viewed then i have to do the same

I've never been one to comment much on pictures.  I do view most photo essays, though.

I'm still commenting on everything I was. I try to be fair and hit everything I can when I am on.

I am not going to stop commenting on ANYTHING.  It is not a waste of time for you to post them...  I will try to check out your pictures a little later :-)

I haven't changed anything...

I have been viewing stuff like crazy today and yesterday, including photos and videos. Over 1,000 page views combined.

I like viewing photos because they don't take long to view, unlike articles and videos.

I'm still viewing all your stuff, mini. Don't give up.

Still viewing pictures, at about the same rate I was before.  I get interested in something, and start looking at all of somebody's pictures, or reading their posts, and before I know it, I have again run out of time, and still haven't earned more than a couple of points.  But I was entertained for a while, and that is something I need.  The points are nice, but I certainly never made enough to earn a living at it, so that's not much of a change for me, anyway.

I used to get from 30 to 40 comments on my photos and a lot more views than that.  Now I'm lucky if I top 10 comments, with under 20 views.  It hardly seems worth it anymore.

And I'm really sick and tired of reading comments by people whose earnings have gone up instead of down.  Maybe they are getting bonus points for being Gather cheerleaders.

Most of my connections --who post quality stuff and comment a lot-- have seen a 60% to 70% decrease in their earnings.

I hae seen a decrease as well. But I hve strated to see my points go up. Not as fast as they were. But I see them moving. I joined redgage. Not sure if that is helpng much, I am also adding links to yao and google.

I go back and forth between posts and pics depending on my mood or if someone doen't have a lot of posts to return comments I will go into thier pics
