It was really great to get out and about for the ArtWalk.
I only was able to visit 6 participants, but that was enough getting in and out of the car for my poor knees.
It was a beautiful day and maybe too much was going on around town. Attendance was not what we had anticipated. We also had a competing art walk that was later in the day so that confused people and left merchants at the other end of town with little traffic.
Any
way, I did get to take pictures at
all but one of my stops.
Above from left to right: The beautiful Letitia, owner of Roman Ricci Salon, the next two pictures are paintings by Nicki Antonius who is also a beautician there.

These are a couple of the pieces at Wobblefoot gallery that we are auctioning for our fundraiser. Tubal the owner has donated any profit that is made, over his cost, for these hand blown glass pieces. T
hey are
absolutely beautiful
.
There are so many beautiful paintings and sculptures at Wobblefoot Gallery that I could never show them all. Even though the one has it's top cut off, I wanted to show you a couple of my favorites. The first one on the left kind of reminds me of Mariana T. when she goes back home to the Bayou. The second one is a heart tugger with the little girl at that big door. That last one is very cool because it is one of the ceiling tiles that Sue, who works at the gallery, painted. More are on the way.

Our beautiful Lakewood belly dance
rs who always attract a crowd.
A few pieces of art at El Tango Tacqu
eria, a southwestern t
h
emed restaraunt.
These are the rocking paintings of Michael Heasley. I think most of you will know who the icons that are depicted are. The Debra Harry one got his show censored at a local gallery. Prudes.
I only was able to make 6 stops along the way and we had 45 participating businesses. We'll be having these ArtWalks every second Saturday through October so more photo essays to come.

sounds like a really nice way to spend a day
I'm sorry it wasn't better attended. Maybe they should have put the belly dancers on the promotional flyers.
I love the painting of the daffodil! Art shows are so much fun, we only have 1 here each year, but we never miss it.
Sue, she is a very talented young woman.
It was flit. There was just too much confusion, it will be much better this month.
Those are some awesome pieces, Sharon. Talented artist no doubt. Too bad it took away from another show.
We have a few places around here that do art walks. there's one on the first Frida of the month and one on the first Sat of the month - different towns. An art gallery at the beach allows local talent to set up their tables on Sat mornings - I haven't been to that yet, but maybe this Sat.
Looks like a wonderful festival. Those pieces are very impressive. What a great way to spend some time!
Rose - there are many around Cleveland but there were none until we started them 3 years ago. Now everybody and their brother want to capitalize on our hard work. Oh well.
Kimberly, it has potential.
I got stuck on the belly dancers~ =D
ohhhhhh~and THOSE paintings~at eltango~we MUST simply go there in August~ =D
Those are lovely. It sounds like something my daughter would have LOVED!
Excellent job! Looking forward to more reports from the front lines of the Lakewood arts community!
Purrr - Their food is all that hot and I really don't want to eat there unless it's nice outside. Most of the tables weren't bussed, the table my daughter and I sat at had to be wiped again and the knife I got had sticky gunk on it. How about we go look and eat somewhere else? We have wonderful restaraunts here. My daughter also will give me a list of her favorites (vegan).
VEGAN YAY =)
She would Lisa.
There will be more EM Jay, our summer Band2Gether concerts start tomorrow night and go on for 4 more Fridays. High school rock bands that had to compete for slots (5 bands a night). I've been told by our music guru that most of them are great and won't hurt my ears.
there is absolutely no reason the debbie harry one should have been censored at all. if the gallery owner allowed it to be shown, they have a right to say what can be hung regardless of what others may think, plus it's art and therefore very hard to censor. hell, we put a 8 foot painting of a full frontal male nude (making his penis about a foot and a half long) on the front wall of our gallery and even got it to appear on TV and in the paper a few times (with a censor bar for the paper) despite complaints from a few prudish people.
for those type of people, i like to say, "do you complain to the art museums when they display a nude? No? then shut the hell up."
I know, Michael is a good artist and the place that censored it are a bunch of stiffs with brooms in a backside orifice.
Looks like a great stroll. Bummer you couldn't see more. Hope you can next time. I have to go look at the pictures full size now...
You'll love some of them Elllie.
I'm just heading off to bed, will stop by again tomorrow so I can look at all the pictures you are sharing...It all looks very interesting.
It sounds wonderful! *HUGS*
I love the art. My SIL is an artist and I visit many different shows.
It was great Katherine.
Samantha you would have loved it.
Isn't it nice to see inside an artists view Donna.
Love the picture!
Great photo essay, Sharon!
I'm going to our local Art Show tomorrow... I just hope it stays dry, I'd hate for it to be the one rainy day of the week-end!
Looks like there were a lot of beautiful things to see
Thanks Vicky it is.
Duckie I hope it stays dry also. One of the problems with event planning is that you can't control the weather.
There were Kay.
I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy your day. I enjoyed looking at all the photos of the art.
Thanks Monica - love the picture of the kidlets.
Oooo, it's all just gorgeous!! I adore this stuff, that had to be a great day for ya. You got me all excited too now, going home real soon, Wednesday to Wednesday and they got a 4 day street art fair on Main street right on the Detroit river, Heaven!! I plan to hit every day for it as it's walking distance from my moms and about 30 degrees cooler than here, WOOT!!
Wow, great article, Sharon. It DOES look like you've got some talented artists there.

Marvelous art and crafts. Thanks for showing it to us.
