I dunno how to deal
with this monster called recession!
Beg, borrow, steal
are the only options
available to complement
my lessening possessions.
Apart from eating into my wealth
and diminishing my wife's affection,
it has adversely affected my health -
my most cherished possession.
I'm jobless,
I'm unpaid.
I'm homeless -
waiting eagerly for Arnold's aid!
My kids are now poor -
they don't bully around;
they miss roof 'n door
and a princely compound.
My wife too has lost her jewellery,
her gymnasium to recession.
A hairdo like Hillary
is now a garish exhibition.
But something's good about recession.
It has curtailed
our obsession with worldly possessions
which in turn has entailed
our careful attention to social obligations.

I suggest that we learn from this recession, understand how it could happen (again and again) and do something about the root causes. (Please see www.nopom.info for my extensive thoughts on the subject and a solution.)
Ha. many feel this way...Just save, save, save, and reuse...eat fruits and vegetables...
But you probably do all that...We can never be too tired to material things...

Well-expressed sentiments!
That is very true that even if you're poor, right now, you can see that we have to learn to love ourselves and not what we own. That family is what is most important. And, not some big screen t.v.
Good perspective, Ratan. Thanks!
Ratan, you still have your family and I was never rich so I don't feel it as much. Oh I don't get anything from the goverment but my co-payments on tests and medication take up a lot of my monthly income. I still have my son and hubby and that is what counts the most.
Very well expresses, friend.
Nice!
That was a fun read, and the sentiment is terrific. It is important to remember what is really important in life.
Some people already KNEW all those things. Those who lived and survived the Great Depression, that I knew never forgot it and didn't care about those who did. Hopefully this recession will never get quite that far, it's unimaginable to most-from all accounts. We aren't rich either but still cutting down on anything we can think of now.
Good poem.
Very clever Ratan!
If you mention Arnold, you must have ties to CA!
Hi Ratan, you are right it has taught us that we don't need those big mortgages and big 4 wheel drive pick up with a giant payment every month, we have more time to visit our neighbors, and share things. After we are all in the same boat, some have paddles and some don't. But we are all struggling together.
I’m doing a mass hello to everyone on my friends list.
“Hello”, my name is Lee P. You are my friend and I’m just stopping by to say hello. I hope that today will be your best day yet and that all your tomorrows will be filled with joy and happiness.
