I am up early and making coffee, I will put the fresh cup on the nightstand. When it is complete. Maybe take my cup back to bed too. Enjoy the beginning of a new day with my honey . I want to be the first to wish him Happy Fathers day. ,,,,,,,Norma
I see, Donald, you think 8:23 is early. :-)
Stephanie, first you said it starts at 10, later you said 11. Which? I won't be home most of today.
Hi everyone -- the chat starts at 10am. Sorry about the typo.
Good. Earlier is better for me. Thanks.
Good Morning, everyone! I'll drop by for a quick chat in a little while.
been up since 1:30 crazy! happy fathers day all you pops
Good Morning Gatherers! Happy Fathers Day! and to all you moms that are both MOM and Dad Happy Fathers Day TOO!
Happy Fathers Day Vern!
Just want to pop in and wish all the Dads, Grandpas and future Dads a very happy Fathers' Day.
Does anyone have as hard a time as I do thinking of gifts to get for my father?
I haven't had a Dad to get a gift for, in a few years... I do have a tough time finding one for my husband, though!
I have a really tough time too! I got my father a gift certificate to a breakfast cafe near his house. He and my mom like to have breakfast out once in the while. He always says he doesn't need anything, so I try to give him something he can do that's a bit of a treat.
I miss him every day and would love nothing better than to just make him his fav foods and watch the ball game with him........to all the members out there, cherish your Dads, (and Moms), they are gone before you know it....
I know, Rpbyn, and I do. Two years ago we thought we lost our dad, and even though he came out of a coma, his health is failing more every day. And every holiday I wonder if this will be the last with our father.
I'm sorry.....
Usually I end up just giving my father a card on Father's Day and on his birthday.
My father was just in the hospital and started getting cramps in his hands so it was impossible for him to hold a book. He had to set it down on a table and read looking down, which is hard on his back. So I got him a bookstand at Staples. First Father's Day gift I've given him in years because I never know what to get him. My parents have a darned good retirement, and when they want something, they get it. So gifts for them are almost more than they need or maybe want.
Because of all the medication my father has to take every day to keep him alive (32 different pills every day), he sleeps A LOT. Honest to god, he sleeps like my cat! Anyhow, because he probably won't get up this morning until after 11, I won't be going over there until after lunch.
Because I won't be going to my parents' until later, I'll have time to finish the crummy book I'm reading, ONE GOOD TURN by Kate Atkinson, and review it on gather so I can warn others about it. Then I can start THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO by Stieg Larrson tonight.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads here on Gather!
Happy Father's Day Dad. My father has been gone since 1987. He would be 111 yrs. old if still alive. I still miss him a lot. He taught me some valuable lessons, the greatest of which was "Always be willing to help someone in need." He also taught me the importance of saving. He said, "Pay yourself first." That teaching allowed me to be able to retire early and pay for my home early. He also taught me to rollerskate in a rink when I was 4 and to play softball when I was 8. He taught me how to plant a garden when I was only 4 by letting me put in my own garden with whatever I wanted in it. I chose marigolds for my 4'x4' spot. I found out many many years later that he hated marigolds, but it was what I wanted so he didn't ay anything.
111 years old:) He sounds like a wonderful dad. I'm all grown up now so I can admit I was always envious of everyone who had a dad.
I wish someone had taught me about "Pay yourself first". It's how you build wealth and safety and a bit of security as much as that is possible in today's world. A good survival tool, because it doesn't even have to involve money when it comes down to it.
Hi! Happy Father's Day to all the Gather dads! We're going to my parents house later for pizza and cake with dad.
That's what I wish we would do--pizza and cake. Instead, my mother always makes a big meal so we spend all evening cleaning her kitchen.
Since today is also my birthday, my husband made me breakfast :-)
We will be leaving soon for my daughter's house.
My kids are extra thrilled to celebrate this day... they are saying that they are saving on another party by having just one to celebrate Father's Day and my birthday together. We will all be together at my daughter's house for a big cook-out this afternoon. It will be an F Day --- family, food, and fun day.
We always celebrate my mother's birthday and Father's Day together, too. My mom's birthday is June 18, and Father's Day always falls with a day or two of that.
Duckie - F day:) I hadn't heard that expression before:) Family - Food - Fun - it sure doesn't get any better than that. We'll do the same.
Duckie - and how remiss of me - slap me with a wet noodle!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!
Thanks Rose!!!
WOW! Two reasons to celebrate. It's a Happy Duckie Day and Father's Day.
Happy Birthday Duckie!
I hope all the Fathers out there have a wonderful Father's Day, my Father has been gone since 1996, and I miss him terribly. He was a wonderful, giving, caring, man.
I'm truly grateful for the men in my life who were like fathers to me. My father-in-law in particular, was one of the best role models. He truly imparted fatherliness to my husband who is the best dad in the world to our son.
My father died in 1977 at the age of 47, hard to believe how time flies--I am now older than he was then. My hubby is a great father and has been since my first pregnancy. My paternal grandfather was a very special father in my life, too, he died in 1973. So I have fond memories of three special fathers and still enjoy my husband's fathering of his "always little" girls.
Happy Fathers Day to all the great dads out there!
I grew up without a dad so that takes care of that:)
We are having a Father's Day BBQ-pool party for all the dads in the family. The ladies are doing the grilling and the guys hang out in the pool.
Richard's dad passed away but he always get's something for another dad in his life. Special Golf balls and a gift card to his favorite restaurant, Cody's.
Happy father's day to all the dads out there. I talked to my dad a little while ago. I still need to call my brother.
Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers out there! Today we're fixing to go out to eat and i'm taking my husband to the movies.
Happy Fathers Day
I'm headed out to Borders soon and have a great day.

Happy Fathers Day Gather Dads, brothers, uncles, grandpas. My dad passed away in 1973 but I miss him dearly. Today is a bad day for me anyway. It was two years ago today my mother Miss Emma went into the hospital and never came out. And Dave's sister found out she had a deadly cancer. She passed away at 46 in April. So all of you lucky enough to have your father hug his neck because you just never know.
Thanks for the chat.
Happy Father's Day to all you wonderful men out there.
Happy Father's Day to all you wonderful women who take on both roles as mother and father.
I'd like to wish my husband Larry a Happy Father's Day.
So Glad Your Day Went Well,Sounds Like Your Dad Had Fun,here is a Gift for You! http://bit.ly/17mt6H
I'm back from visiting my parents already. My father's health is so, so bad!
Even though my Dad is very mentally ill and very aggitated these day I still made the effort to go ahead and tell him Happy Fathers Day! He doen't like me much but no matter what he is still my only Father and I feel that I do need to respect him no matter how he acts or what he does even if I do not approve of it at all.
My Mom (who is getting the worst end of his verbal abuse and my 10 year old daughter who can get through to him (sometimes) did take him out to eat today at my urging for my daughter to mention it to him.
And also Happy Fathers Day to all other fathers out there! Remember don't just be a father, act like a DAD!!!

I wish that I lived closer to my dad so I could be with him today, but I will be going out to Idaho to see him next month and I can't wait!! Happy fathers day to all of the dads out there!
This will be the first Fathers day I will celebrate without my father, the certainty of our passing is as factual as the sun will rise in the morning. I remember him fondly, his passion for life and love for hunanity, the example set to live in the moment. God speed Dad, I love you.
Happy Fathers Day all..............
Well we are back from Father's Day at my parents house. It was some good, some bad like most family get togethers are. Overall it was fine. We had pizza, chicken, cake and ice cream. It was okay. The kids had a good time playing and we took lots of pictures. Dad seemed to enjoy his present we gave him. We gave him a necklace made of his favorite candy bars taped together, Snickers and made him a "King for the Day" crown with Snickers as jewels. It was fun!

My dad is getting older and not having such good health so we like to spend as much time with him as possible. To enjoy him!
Because I left my parents' home early, I finished a book this evening and can now review it on Gather. It wasn't a good book.
Sorry to hear you're faced with writing a bad review. That has happened with me before and it's a challenge. Perhaps simply breaking it down into the pro's and con's of the book, with a short introduction and close stating the background you bring to this review, would meet your needs? Just one of I'm sure many options....
Anyhow, thought I'd drop you a line. Enjoy the rest of your Father's Day, and do drop me a line when you finish with your review. I am very interested is seeing the treatment you end up giving your piece.
I wrote a sort of review, not a good one. I should probably rewrite it.
Happy Father's Day everyone!
Hope all the dads around had a great father's day! I went to my parents' house to spend the day with my stepdad. It was a lovely day with the family.

Happy Father's Day to my husband, Brian! He's been a wonderful father every stage of our kids lives. Now that they are grown, he's still a great example for them to learn from. And he knows how to have fun!
HAhttp://ListJoe.com/j/ptbinvestPPY FATHERS DAY ALL! I HOPE IT ALL WENT WELL
Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day everyone! We celebrated yesterday with my in-laws by having dinner with them. I will see my dad, who lives out of town, in the next couple of weeks, but I did call him to wish him a Happy Father's Day today.
So sorry I missed this one! A belated Happy Father's day to all the Gather dads.
Came back to say thanks for the 25 points I received for participating in this chat... I had forgotten all about this Live Chat until the points showed up and a notification arrived from Lisa. As slow as the points have been accumulating, the points were quite welcome. :-)
Thank you, Stefanie for hosting this!
Thank you Gather for the 25 points, it was totaly unexpected and very much appreciated .
