We ate at The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo when we visited the area at the beginning of March. They have to die for pink champagne cake.
It's not just a place to eat and leave in my opinion. If you are a tourist, you simply have to look through the rest of the building. It's beautiful. We didn't make it up to the gift shop area because my girlfriend has been having some health problems and couldn't make it up the stairs.

Oh yes, it's such a beautiful place, quite special! And the dining room is the perfect "special date night" place though you almost have to take out a loan or second mortgage to eat there!
