Why arn't people leaving comments anymore is that all gather is..For points?
Because I am going to keep leaving comments and doing everything that I normally do because gather is a relaxing place for me. So can't you find other reasons besides points to leave comments.
And actually I have never stopped leaving comments thats most of what I do and I am still getting about the same points I have always gotten.

I didn't know that was happening - I guess it WAS all about points for many people. Certainly what they posted looked like it. I'm with you - if I read it I'll comment.
I think most people were here just for points, and that most of them will leave. But the ones who stay will be the ones who really like the place for what it is, and not just a way to get stuff.
I was dissapointed with the new system, since I got MOST of my points from comments, and now I hardly get any, but I'm still here, reading and commenting the same ammount I used to.
I too have seen a slow down in the comments and views since the change in points, I myself and changing how I gather as a result, I will explain my new method in a post soon.
For right now, I have not changed the way I Gather. I comment, I view, I post. My points are "maybe" a bit lower than they were per day.
i know, although yesterday i had quite a few comments
My points have gone down a bit..but I am gonna keep doing what I do...I just wont make the same goals I did...oh well.....
I am here for the folks and the chit chatting who care who stroll in and leave nothing, I know where my friends are,,,
To hell with the points. I rate and comment just like always. So there LOL
I still comment when I can. I've always gone through spurts where I'll go a few days without being able to comment much and then I'll go a few days where I comment quite a bit. It just depends on what's going on in life. I don't plan to change my commenting at all.
I'm still commenting about the same amount, although I do try to adjust my Gather behavior to get more points. This latest update was not good for my points, Yesterday for instance I only got 3 points! I had been getting 25-30 points a day. I will try to start posting more content I guess.
I am leaving comments as well, I guess this weeds out the greedy from the gracious!
I've always been more of a commenter than a poster, but with the new point system I'm going to be posting a lot more. I'm not going to change my commenting habits even if they net fewer points. I did notice on an article I did right after the announcement I only got 2 comments after 50 views.
I am doing things as I always have :0) Just might log less time now, but i was planning on that anyway.
I've noticed the slow-down too. But, I think it will all balance out in the end. People who were here only for points will likely disappear, and Gather will continue to be a fun place for us to gather socially (pun intended). It's a social-networking site with a perk. I personally like Gather a lot more than Facebook or MySpace.
Well, I will need to spend less time on here, as "real" life takes preference, and all of a sudden, my life here at home as become much busier, and I'm on the computer too much the way it is.....so busy that I'm going to be quitting my online mail coding job, for Hausernet. I've gotten tons and tons of mail....I just cannot keep up with it anymore.....so just have to limit everything online, especially Gather.....LOL!!!!
you never got points for leaving a comment, but for the viewing itself.
I want to leave a comment so the person knows that I was there.....
I get notices of posts from each person I am connected to. there is no way to keep up daily with the notices so when it's closer to bedtime I do try to go to the ones that are from those that I know have left comments for me, or do so on a regular basis.
Having been slowed down by Gather upgrades is a pain, but viewing and/or commenting is the readers choice, now less rewarding for them. If they want more views from Google searches, you'll never know who views your content.
I'm not getting too many comments. Some of my older posts have gradually gotten comments, but back then I was in a few more groups.
I'm glad they're cutting back on the comment points. It will be good to weed out the point whores anyway and leave the real posters to share what they want. I've always viewed Gather as a great site (and tool!!) for other ventures I'm in and wouldn't change that. The points were just a bonus.
I still use Gather for research too to get advice on other sites.
