Today is day nine for the bluebird babies.
They should be flying away in a few days. I am trying to get as many photos as I can.
Not much has changed since two days ago. They are sleeping a lot, but this is normal, from what I have read. I will have to be careful over the next four or five days. If I open the house too much, they could prematurely TRY to fly away. That would be catastrophic.
I have noticed another female starting a new nest in the first house. Remember the one the sparrows took over? The bluebirds have managed, so far, to keep the sparrows out of the yard and away from the houses. I hope they have success in this new nest they are working on. Time will tell.

Sleepy heads!

So cute, lots of feathers now.

I'm gonna miss these little babies.

They are growing every day.

Lots of feathers now!

they are so cute
Thanks!
they are adorable!
Yes they are.
cute pics
Thanks!
They are growing so fast! It's awesome that you are taking lots of pictures since they will be gone so soon. How magical to share it all here :)
Too fast Tonia. Good to see you.
I dread the day they leave, but maybe there will be more.
Getting big. Great essay.
Thank you Janet.
Pretty soon, they will be flying free. But still cute.
I know Angie... maybe there will be more soon.
They are growing fast. I'm surprised they don't wake up and start "tweeting" or something when you open it up to take pictures. Sound sleepers.... Zzzzzzz, LOL.
Great pictures, I've been looking forward to your posts on this. I think they are so cool to watch grow.... ;-)
Thanks.
Sometimes they wake up and open their mouths but not today.
Thanks John. They will be gone soon.
I just learned that this year over at the State Park when I was photographing the bird houses. One week the doors were all nailed shut so we couldn't open them. I asked one of the park rangers why and she told us they would try to "fly the coupe" when the door was opened.
Wow, it is great to hear that someone is helping take care of the little ones. A good idea.
Awww, how cute. I am so glad that yours are doing so well. I hope you can catch it when they take flight.
I know Carol, I may have to camp out in my backyard, binoculars glued to my eyes!! :)
What a cool series of posts!
It is delightful to watch these babies deveolp!
Thank you, Carol!
Well thank you Curt. It is a delight to share.
This continues to be a fascinating series, Carol.
Thank you for all your visits John. I am truly enjoying this experience.
They are so tiny!
But they have grown Jodie. They were like little shrimp on day one!
This has been a wonderful learning experience for me too!!! I missed this the other day, but now I get to check out two at one time!!! smile, off to see what else is going on with them!!!
Again, I get my awwww for the day!!!
Good to see you Barb. I hope you are all not getting tired of the bluebirds. They will be flying away soon. So please, humor me!! It is always so nice to see you.
It won't be long now, Carol. You are truly being blessed to witness this :) and I'm so glad you're sharing it.
It's wonderful to see them progress, they are just so cute! Personally, I'm excited to think soon maybe you'll have photo's of them when they start to fledge to share, got to be so very inspiring! As to missing them, no doubt, I can well imagine, but methinks you need to concentrate instead on planning perhaps getting and plan where you'll put more and better houses since this season is such a success and continue your charge of increasing their population each one, tis a grand and honorable charge to be sure~!!
Check out my latest update Ruth... no photos this time.
Cool, over I go!
lol Dawn... that is Ruth's icon. :) But I do have a cat and I have to keep her in because of the baby birds.
I guess mom and dad, seeing you around for so long, didn't mind that you were so close to the nest
BLuebirds, like most song birds, are more tolerant to humans than other birds. The only time they divebombed me is when the babies were getting ready to fledge.
