I have been away a lot lately. Did you miss me? I miss me. I have been visiting with family and friends. There is nothing in this world that beats family and family reunions, especially in New England. My twin put together a family picnic and we had a yummy New England Clambake.
My cousins, brothers, sister, and my Aunts and Uncles showed up along with my Mom. My Uncles and and Aunts and my mom are all in their eighties. The younger children began to play a game of badminton. We all enjoyed watching the children have fun. I went into the house to check on the food and came back outside to see a WICKED game of badminton going on between my Mom and her brothers and sisters. Oh my God! What were they thinking? They were giggling and laughing and cursing out each other. I felt like I was watching the movie Cocoon. It was funny to see them chasing and making lewd remarks about the shuttlecock.
I commented to the group " Are you the Kennedy's? Did I mistakenly walk into the Kennedy compound? What next are you going to all be playing tag football?" My sister slyly whispered in my ear " yes they are the Kennedy's'; the dead Kennedy's"
Sadly I have to report that the day after this shindig my Uncle ended up in the hospital with a major heart attack. My own mother followed her brother's lead and ended up in the same hospital a few days later. My Mother had a blockage in her colon and had to have emergency surgery. The doctor found a large tumor and we are awaiting the results of the biopsy. To make matters worse we called our Priest to have him go and pray for them and he did not return our call. We found out the next day that the Priest was admitted to the same hospital because he had appendicitis. What are these members of a small New England town trying to do? On their own I think that they are trying to stimulate the local economy one hospital bed at a time.
The priest came in to my Mother's room and offered her confession. My Mom immediately called me to tell me and to ask me if she was dying. Mom thought that I knew something that she did not know. I reassured her that everything was okay, I then asked her what do you have to confess Mom? There was a sound of silence from her end and I asked her the following question. I said " Mom did you pass gas in church last Sunday?" Mom began to laugh so hard that she couldn't stop and she mumbled between giggles " I am hanging up the phone now Donna and maybe you need to go to confession soon. " I replied to my Mom that I do indeed go to confession and I asked her if she wanted to know what I confess. I told her that I tell all my sins and then I add a disclaimer at the end. She asked what my disclaimer was. My disclaimer is my last words to the Priest " and I lie." Well I have to go now and say Three Hail Mary's and Five Our Father's. Hope to see you all around Gather, enjoy your families and friends and hold them close and be in the moment. Love, Donna

Welcome back! and of course you were missed.
Missed you to.
We DID miss you! Your family reunion sounds like some of mine. Glad you all had fun, but sorry your mom and uncle ended up in the hospital. I hope they're going to be okay. Sending prayers and hugs.
Thank you Barbara. I am glad to be back but it looks like I will be traveling back and forth to Boston soon.
glad you had a good reunion, sorry about you mom and uncle having to go to the hospital, hope the are okay and the test results are good.
Thanks Larry.
I thought is was awful quiet around here,, now I know why
so fun and misery in a sort,, glad to see your humor in all of this, hope things get better soon,,,
If I don't laugh I will cry. Trust me I have done both. I was driving in the car with Kendra and my grand daughter Kaylie and talking on the phone with my sis. When ever sis and I talk we laugh and laugh. Kaylie commented to Kendra that she had never heard Grandma laugh so much and she wanted to know who I was talking to.
im sorry about the end part
Hope and pray your mom is ok
hugs
Sandi your comment means a lot to me. This last month has been one thing after another for my family members. My little Captain Underpants a.k.a Dylan haad to have 9-1-1 come by twicw last week. All is well with him now.
oh no,was it because of his past problem>?
give him a hug from me, i am still praying for him
and where is Lili, i am afraid i wont know her when they put a picture of her up
Sandi..Dylan fell and split his head open and had to have stiches, because of ITP they have to watch for brain bleeds. He had been sick and on antibiotics then he had a bad reaction to them and they had to call 9-1-1 yet again. Yet again last night he had to go to the e.r. because he was showing signs of ITP, turned out not to be , thanks be to God.
wow Im glad things are sorta ok now
Keeping him more i my prayers
hugs to you all
Thank you Sandi for your prayers and kindness.
Welcome back. Prayers going up for your Mom. TY for posting this to our GatherPointAddicts group.
Thank you Janet for your prayers.
Best wishes to your mom and uncle. I'm glad they had a great day before all of the chaos.
Thank you JustMe I would rather think of them as they were the day before.
I understand and you were given the gift of that image, Donna.
xxx's.
You are so right. I will always have that image in my head when I think of them.
nice to see you again
Hi Fancy!
At least you don't have boring relatives! Wishing them days of comfort!
ha ha ha! Did you forget who these relatives are related to? The apple don't fall from that tree........and when it did it hit me on the head.
Sorry about your Mom and uncle !
Thanks Phil, one day at a time. Boy what a difference a day makes.
Goodness! So much has happed to you whilest you were away from us.
I recently lost my mother in law after she had a biopsy. So, hearing that, made me catch my breath a bit..
Anywho, dear friend, even though I hate to be a stickler, I have to point this out.
In my group, Anythingwriting , anything that is nonfiction has to have the tag, "Journal entry" on it, and preferably toward the beginning so I can find it.
Thanks.
thanks for the info
sorry about your loss.
OhMyGosh!! What are the chances of all three of them winding up in the same hospital?
Glad to see you again, Donna! I hope your Mom and your uncle recover. God bless.
Hi Janie and thank you.
Wow - strange events at the reunion. Everyone ending up in the hospital was definitely not the plan. Yikes.
No it wasn't the plan but at least everyone had a great time and all touched base.
I missed you too, Donna and am glad you were having so much fun. I'm so sorry about your mom and your uncle and hope they get well soon.
Hi patty long time no see. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
I agree with Patrica on your mom and uncle. On a lighter note, did you bring Fenway home and did you pahk the cah in Harvard Yad?
hello Big K shouldn't you be teaching summer school? Fenway haad to go to doggie daycare. Yes indeed I did pahk the car everywhere, Boston traffic is wicked. Thanks for your kind thoughts for my family.
Taking summer off. I got my Public school renewal contract about a week after school let out, so I signed it and turned it in. I'm also on the sub list at St. Joseph's School, the Catholic elementary school here in town. I spoke to the principal at church this morning and she let me know that my services have been retained for 2009-10.
Great news K! I am so happy for you.
Good to see you Donna. I hope your mother and uncle are better soon.
Hi Vic how are you? Thank you
I'm good, thank you.
I have missed yo a lot Donna! My best to you and your family! I hope your Mother and her Uncle feel better soon!
Why thank you Kevin!
Of course you were missed, Miss Donna! I'm glad you had a wonderful family reunion and hope your family is on the mend.
Wienerhead!! How are you? Still playing good cop bad cop with hubby? Love ya!!
Glad to see you back Donna, and sorry to hear about all the mishaps within a day or two , must have stumbled across a Murphy's Law line or something. I hope your mother is doing well, and keep her laughing, best medicine there is.
Hello Miss Elsie. Murphy's Law keeps hanging over my head like a dark cloud. You are so right about laughter and I honestly earned my eye for humor from my mom. I live my life trying to find humor in every situation.
Welcome back Donna. I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you. Been some major changes on Gather. You will have to catch up.
I am sorry to hear about your mother and your uncle. Hopefully they will both have a speedy recovery. The game of badminton must have been a riot to watch. How wonderful that they got to enjoy each other.
Next time your in the area wave hello.
Looks like I will be back there soon, but family first. Consider this a hello. Linda you live on the Cape, right?
Wish it was the Cape. Close enough though Fall River. Not that I mind you having to visit your home state but sorry that it has to due with family health issues. Wishing for better health to head in the way of your family members.
I know Fall River, I grew up in NewBesh..
Glad to see you back, I hope your family members will be ok!
One day at a time, thanks for your thoughts on my family's health.
oh yeah, you were REALLY missed.
And see you been kissing the stone from a long time ago...
No Blaney stone for me this year, too much life going on here at the moment. I am shotting for next year.
Good we will kiss together.
I mean the stone...
I hope your not talking about a kidney stone.
But I digress.
I am wicked pissed you didn't call me when you were in Beantown.
Oh you didn't have my phone???
no I don't have your digets.
Next time..
There is always a next time.
Your perspective on life is enviable~ =D If only all of us could flip it so~life would be filled with so much more laughter~
HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! =D
So true...so true. Laughter is my coping skill.
ooh Donna... what an interesting family reunion... hope everyone will be ok soon...
yes, i missed you... be well my friend...
Thank you Necee
Glad to see you back.
nice to be back
wow sounds like quite the roller coaster ride! i love what you said to your mom though! priceless!!
Yes it is a E ticket ride to be in my family. Mom understands my need for humor to defuse situations.
i'm the same way. :)
My family reunions are beyond interesting if you catch my drift! LOL
Do tell.
Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Hope all goes well. Keep that sense of humor!! It is the best thing my Mother taught me.
Karen~
I do remember those days of playing badminton, on the front lawn. Of course, the house was always the winner, as the younger kids would inevitably hit the shuttlecock up on the roof. That's a pretty strange set of coincidences, with everyone going to the hospital... Yes, enjoy your family and friends. Relish the time that you have with them....Don't ever, and I mean ever, let them not know that they are a dear friend...
I love you Mom.
