Kai's Newborn Shoot

I finally did Kai's newborn session, all though it was a little late. Our family had the stomach flu during the first week of his life so he and I stayed sequestered in my bedroom trying to avoid him getting sick. I ended up sick but thankfully he never got it. So, due to unfortunate circumstances, his newborn shoot happened in two parts and the majority of it not until he was fourteen days old, which is really pushing the envelope. He was not as sleepy nor as curly as I would have liked but I did manage to get a few keeper shots. He really is a beautiful baby, if I do say so myself.

Sucking his thumb, which he rarely does. I have a picture of my daughter like this too although she also was not really a thumb sucker.

Goodness sakes how I love those first smiles even though we know what they really mean!

And you've seen this one since Imade it my profile picture but I wanted to add it here too. I wanted to capture this particular shot so I set it up and had my husband click the shutter. I wish we'd had one person helping us as I'd like to have had a reflector to my left to light up that side of my face and the baby's face as well, but I think the side lighting works here. Adds some drama.
