today at work all we did was remove lock sets from an entire elementary school worth of doors.
me being the packrat i am decided i would keep them all to take to the scrap yard. i figured that it was mostly just steel, not worth all that much. but when i got home and started sorting through it (about 250-300 lbs) i took a magnet to a lot of the pieces and found they were aluminum or brass. which is MUCH more valuable than plain ol' steel. so that was a pleasant surprise.
i have it all sorted out in the garage. i have been collecting scrap copper, aluminum, and brass for 2 years now. i live very close to a scrap yard that pays well for the stuff my only issue is....i dont have a truck!
so its kind of hard to move an entire house worth of aluminum siding (my house). without a truck. so my plan is just to stockpile this stuff untill i can find a cheap barely running truck and use the scrap money to pay for the fixing up of the said truck.
do you have any big plans in motion right now?

No plans I hope you get lots of $$ for your locks!
Do you have any friends with a truck that you could ask to borrow?
I have a pickup truck. My family and friends are NEVER shy about asking to borrow it when they need to move things. :)
actually only one person i know well enough to even think of asking has one and its actually motivation forme to buy a truck. i have always wanted one, since i was 16, but i never could afford one when i needed a car...
Hopefully you can save enough to get a truck soon!
We used to have a lot of extra copper lying around from when my hubby used it for work. We would pile it in the back of our car and take it to the scrap yard. The extra cash was nice.
good thing you have a garage to store it in! that's a great idea though....
I would take it a little at a time
One friend is all you need Ryan. You may have a lot more than you realize.
you can get the rear end of a pickup made into a trailer.
That sounds like a creative way to make the money. I love it. Good luck. :D
