8 years ago today, my heart was stolen

Yes, it's very hard to believe it's been that long ago, but 8 years ago today, my first daughter was born and she totally stole my heart!  It's a moment a mom will never forget - that first sight of your very first child (or probably any of your children as I still remember that first sight of my 2nd child as well).  I never dreamed that I could love her more after she was born than I did while I was still carrying her. But I did. Immediately enchanted by her!

Not too long I talked about Bethany in my Incredible Student post. And she is an incredible student.

But, as a baby, she was such a delight. She was always very serious - we had to work so hard to get a smile out of her. And a giggle?? Oh my goodness that was tough! But from a very young age we noticed how intent she was on watching people. At 4-5 months old she'd sit on my lap with a group of people around and we would watch her turn her head to look at whoever was talking. It was no wonder she started speaking in full, clear sentences by 18 months old!

By 2 years old she knew her letters, numbers, colors & shape, and could name about 10-15 of the states off when you showed her a U.S. map. She loved puzzles so as we'd put them in place, I'd name them off. I didn't realize how amazing this was since she was my first child and I'd never really been around children much before.

Now she's this amazing young girl who befriends everyone. She makes new friends every where we go. She loves to sing and dance. She really has a heart for the Lord, praying for the people she loves every night, loves to sing His praises.  And, I know God is teaching me patience and self-control as her mom because one day she will be queen of the debate team! LOL
