And I think it is because of the new fuel for Falkenburg Road Energy plant to be put into use today........... Bless new technology!
According to Tampa Bay News ((TBO.com))written by howard altman, the energy plant will Burn over 3,ooo Pounds of pot to fuel electricity for local homes. The pot was donated by the sheriff's office and it was said that it was the result of last year's drug busts.
At 11AM, eastern standard, the burning shall begin. As of 7AM, when the notice was viewable online by all, the crowds began......the local police had to be called in by 9AM to control the crowds, as there are more than 42 thousand folk at the energy Plant gates, some with inventions hoped to pull odors right out of the air, selling for a few bucks each..........
My neighborhood was emptied of people by 7;30 AM and it feels kind of lonely right now. Sure hope they get back ok, and I am sure ALL will be in a good mood, perhaps Sharing their snacks with me?
" great smells in the "hood" today"
UPDATE!!!!
Hawk says they stated late...and local news ABC and news channel 8 NbC are covering the most interesting burn. he also reported that not ONE Employee left the premises at lunchtime...all seem to be eating their lunch from bags, and standing near the burn.... he took a phone pic just as it went "WHOOMP" up in the air...perhaps I can share that with you all later... what a DAY, folks, what a day...Brings a whole new meaning to "Up in Smoke",lol ..........................

Tampa huh? It'll take me about 4 hours to get there, but I'll bring the munchies!!
Lol... I am wondering if I should drive over Katie... it is only 5 miles from here...and my Tenant Works there! jeeze, there is No one around for miles!!!
I was in college in the 50's. So I never did the pot thing. That's not to say we didn't do beer, 7&7's, Extra Sharp Ginger Brandy....
And don't forget the cheap wine, John...It sure got ME in enough trouble! One can walk down my street almost any night and get a contact high... :)
We used cheap wine to cure our wineskins, which in those days were lined with pitch. But then we had to cure them of the cheap wine! Wineskins were great for downhill skiing.
This is hilarious. Too bad they didn't donate some to the bakeries.
OMG... I Didn't think of THAT, Lynn... too,Too, Funny!!
I see you have 4 comments and only 1 view. Which one of us is actually a whole. It must be that darned breeze down there.
I can hardly wait until noon, when tenant will call and tell me how it went! they have him Up on a High scaffold today...... I think he should get Down before 11 AM....
penni, I do too. A scaffold is no place to be if inhaling.
Oh my, this is positively hilarious! I hope someone is getting footage of this. Hee hee hee.
I'll bet at LEAST three news stations will be there, barb.... what a cool way to get electicity, huh?
I know a few people who would be on the ground sobbing at the waste! LOL!
lol!
Hilarious, penni! I used to live about a mile from a steel mill which burnt all the drugs the police confiscated. They would dump it in a vat of molten metal, and ZAP, it was gone..no lingering aroma to enjoy at all...
bet ya my county is Glad ((well, at least Some of them, lol)) that there is no vat of molten metal at falkenburg............ :)
Wow, that molten steel is powerful stuff. My dad used to work at a steel mill. He came home very upset one day ... a guy slipped and fell into the vat. They ended up just burying a slab of steel because there wasn't anything to fish out. :(
Now THAT is scarey, barbara... tenant has to do some very dangerous stuff at the plant also.. once got such a SHOCK standing in water that it blew out his shoes and addled his head!
Yeah, a lot of the men were quite upset for a long time. It was sad. I think it was really quick for the man, though, at least it was merciful. That's about the only comfort the family would have. :\ Sorry to bring such a downer to your article.
Kinda like the end of Terminator II..
Hey.... the wind is blowing my way...... be back in a few, folKs! ((he,heh))
How many fingers am I holding up?
Thanks for posting this Penni. I think we all needed a laugh. Too funny, I will be watching the news for the story.
Too cute!!! LOL I am cracking up.
instead of penni, we'll call you toker. good article.
What a scary way to go...falling in a vat of molten metal...but I would think it was over very quickly...
As for the burning of the pot...I like Lynn's thought...sharing it with the local bakery...been a while since I had any spiked brownies : - )
ah, ha ha..katherine...wonder if they started late because they had to weigh it again...to see if any went into...er...local baking?
or into anyone's pocket? I really do wish we would legalize pot as I really don't like to drink booze...but would love to be able to sit back and relax with a little smoke
I wish they'd legalize it, too. Having it illegal pushes it into the criminal element and causes a lot more problems. If you got it at the local drugstore, it would only be a gateway to Mucinex or something.
hahahaha.....Mucinex lol or even Pepto Bismo from all the munchies : - )
IMHO...booze is much worse then pot...
very cute Penni!
oh my that is so strange
wish I was there,,,,,
Just had to come back for an update on this.
I only had glorified brownies one time. Boy I was spitting nails. A co-worker brought them and gave them to us. We acted like sheer fools and we did not have a nice boss. We could have all been fired. That's all I know about those brownies. Except I'm still not laughing considering the grief it caused. However, at the time we weren't grieving. All our boss's scowls and angry words just seemed hilarious to us.
Yea right : - )
Certainly wasn't nice of the coworker to do that...you all could of gotten in some trouble...like DUI...or fired for the use of drugs...not a smart thing for the co worker to have done
Reading the title I thought it was something terrible lol
That is hilarious, penni. I can just imagine the scene.
Darn...the wind isn't blowing strong enough for the smoke to make it up this way...otherwise, I'd be out sitting on my balcony breathing very deeply. Such a waste of a 'natural resource'.
true, rob...and one More reason to legalize...if it makes electricity!!!!
Brownies.
This is hilarious
Ha... I might actually Watch the news tonight! Went to town, which is about 2 miles from Burn place..... took 30 minutes to get out of pet store with only two customers in front, staples cashier rang my purchase up wrong, I got the 18.49 meal from Long John's instead of the 10.89, because that is what the lady rang up and I sort of HAD to take it, as she looked glassy eyed and was wayy older tham me, which meant she should have been able to retire by now.... AIEEEE..... what a WEIRD Afternoon!
The police should have campfires like this every night as a crime deterrent community service. Donuts are mandatory.
Kumbaya, My Lord, Kumbaya......
news channel 8 "on your side" Tampa bay, is showing the burn at 6PM. i have to go watch, lol, for you could smell it a mile from my house, and...er....NONE of the neighbors have come Back yet!!!!!!!!!
I did hear that munchies were sold out in all neighborhood stores today....hmmmm....
What a riot! Wish I'd been there too!!
I thought about ya, Es, as the big white Cloud appeared in the sky. :)
Good times, Penni! What did your tenant think of the proceedings? Were the neighborhood stores really sold out of snacks???
He said it was awesome! All the cops were wearing masks, as part of the drug team. The stuff burned a bit, then a sudden WHOOSH, and smoke like crazy...then they turned to steam.. I wouldn't have monded a sream bath,lol....and...no chips, no donuts Anywhere!
Oh my.
I can't think of anything else to say except I enjoyed reading your article.
thanks, lee...:)
" My country tis of thee
please blow that smoke toward me
of thee I beg
Land where my father sniffed,
Land where my".......................I think heard all the neighbors singing this song.
ROFLMBO Penni, that story wasn't nearly as funny as the comments. stay sober and safe. Goodnight for me.
The comments often make the story, norma...lol...Good night.
Too funny!!!
lmfao
Came back to see how this ended. Did you see any of the neighbors after the burn? Penni, this is one of the funniest stories I've heard in a while. I bet all those policemen wouldn't have been wearing masks had they not been ordered to wear them.
I thought I saw this on Simpsons once... Nice one.
I think it should be used in baking and eating contests.
"bake, bake, bake away
common sense will fly awayyyyy"
