Chapter 2:
Anne is at her job at the restaurant, when the phone rings. Someone answers and they say "Anne, it's for you". She answers the phone and her heart almost stops when she hears Roy's voice. "Anne, I want to see you tonight" he says. It has been a week since she had seen or heard from him and she had not been able to sleep, wondering if he would ever call her again. She agrees to have him pick her up at 7:00 and they hang up. All day long she is giddy as a schoolgirl and can't wait for her shift to be over.
When she gets home from work ( she and Ange her youngest are living with her daughter Doly and her husband George ), she helps Doly get dinner on the table. After they clean up the kitchen, she then starts getting ready for her evening out with Roy. Anne dances around happily in her room, as she gets herself ready. Doly comes up to her and gives her a big hug, saying " I am so glad he called you Mom, it's so nice to see you happy again, have a great time tonight". At 7:00 PM the doorbell rings and he is there to pick her up.
He drives her to a seafood restaurant right on the bay . They talk about this and that, their lives etc. After a delightful dinner and conversation he takes her back home, since they both have to work the next day.
They keep seeing each other for the next few weeks and one day he says "You need to get a place of your own. She agrees, because she knows she has to get her own place to let Doly and George be by themselves again, since they only been married for a few months. The following week Roy calls her, gives her an address and tells her to meet him there. When she gets there he is waiting for her at this nice doublewide mobile home, he asks her if she likes it because he rented it for her. It is a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath with a nice front deck. Anne just loves it and tells him so, but says the only way she will take it is if she can pay him back as soon as possible. Roy doesn't really like this, but finally agrees.
Ange is happy to have a big room again. Anne loves it too because it also has a big eat-in kitchen and livingroom. Roy comes over after work everyday and spends some time with them, before going back to his own place. He sure likes all the food she has been cooking for him. One night about 10:00 PM she hears a knock on her door and when she answers there is a policeman standing there. He asks her if she knows a Doly and her heart drops. She says yes and he tells her there had been an accident, Doly was Ok, but George is in the hospital. She wakes up Ange and they race to the hospital, but it was too late. George had passed away. Doly and George had only been married 6 months.
After the funeral, she tells Doly to come stay with her for a while, until she can get herself together and she says ok. About 3 weeks later, Doly goes back to her own place to get on with her own life.
A few months later, Roy buys a piece of property and gives Anne money to purchase a used mobile home. After many weeks clearing the land, she has the trailer moved onto the property. Now they move in together as a family.
Roy tells her of his plans with the rest of the property. "We need to put in more trailers and rent them out, so we can have additional income" he tells her. So he puts in electric, gas and water hook-ups, buys a few more trailers and they rent them out.
Anne is starting to have problems with her health and has to quit her job as a waitress. When she finally goes to the doctor after she can't bare the pain any longer, he tells her she has hip problems, that go back to when she was a child and she will need surgery. She is devastated, wondering how Roy will feel about all this. When she tells him, he says:
"No problem, we will get thru this together".
She can't believe it, she finally met someone who will stick with her thru thick and thin.
