White-haired Zinnia led the way, scrambling over rocks and rubble to the child. We watched, knowing our world was already lost.
“This one,” Zinnia said. Red-haired Columbine held the bag. Blue Belle wrote the tag.
“Where to now?” Buttercup asked, aiming a wink at Daisy’s green hair.
Then Zinnia turned. “Revenants,” she said. “Back to our own time. And the little child will lead us.”
We could have told Buttercup and Daisy not to stay, but we didn’t. And as the others vanished in the colored glow of their stones, the rebel pair turned to flowers, incandescence in our gray.
100 words: including
- a foreign word or phrase
- a time period in the distant past or future
- five stones
- the word "wink"
It's not really a rainbow, I know, but there were only 5 stones.

Creative and fun. Nice response to the challenge, Sheila.
a creative post
I admit, I haven't even thought about the prompt. It was exciting to see how you approached it. While I don't understand everything you wrote, I know I like how the words feel in my head. One of my favorite lines is : We watched, knowing our world was already lost. That's so intriguing! I want more...
Wow, sounds very challenging but fun at the same time!
Thanks for posting to my group, Anythingwriting
Sheila,
Oh! Intriguing... you should write more on this. I want to know what is going on in this story! It captured my attention.
Fun read...magical even : - )
Just wonderful! As others have already said, intriguing and creative.
Your imagination at work again Shiela, love it.
Beautiful writing, Sheila, I love your imagination!

I think it's a glorious rainbow. It feels very rich with meaning. I will ponder it.
Thanks for posting this to Rainbow Connections - Colorful Competitions!
Oh, Sheila I love it. Alien flower children of the future collecting human child specimens. (bug collecting) Awesome idea! What a creative solution to the challenge! Great surreal imagery, a fanciful romp through the post apocalyptic world visited by hippie plant people.
Beautiful language as usual. I believe your Biblical reference subtle and intentional.
This reminds me of a few lines from the Pink Floyd song, "Comfortably Numb." I feel like you've given me a "fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look, but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now." I know I saw it, but it is too short to look at with any contacting knowledge, but it's something I truly long to see fully - to study, to inspect, to actually poke at. Didn't know that could even be done with writing. Truly unique, and I like it. Still, what is it? And, weirdly, I'm pretty sure I don't want to know for sure, since this gives me something more to think about not knowing. You're good! Thanks.
This was great reading.
