Being that Gather is changing again (and for the better) according to the last "Gather Updates Points Program" article posted by Mr. Tom Gerace at http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474977713771#comments ---we all have to face the upcoming consequences of posting quality articles or non quality articles that will either build the Gather writing community or annihilate the writing community sending it spiraling down the dark illiterate chasm of cesspool mediocre media.
It seems only appropriate at this time to take a step back and examine our writings and our sociolect writing talents and styles. What really motivates us to be here, to continually accentuate our literacy and writing stereotypes? What stimulates us to constantly strive to put forth genuine articles for all to read, rate, and comment on.
What really quantifies a quality article submission from a non quality submission? Have you violated any of the "Points Program" rules? Or have you been one of the upstanding Gather Members who quantifies their membership with the highest quality of writing. Always striving to add information in speculative articles, full of your own writing luster and savvy talents?
Where do you place yourself within the Gather writing community? I don't know if there is a place for such libertarian eclectics as myself to try to fit into and subsequently find myself coming up short all the time? But once again, maybe it will be worth while for a while longer.

Technically Tom's post didn't address the 'quality' of content on Gather...only whether that content is original. Member's can still freely post games, one sentence articles, and other trivial forms of content including email forwards and jokes (in moderation...whatever that is). Thus, the new rules (as outlined today) will likely have very little impact upon your experience in the community.

this is NOT all about gather members & for gather members benefit ... this is all about Gather.com staying viable in creating their own revenue & staying alive!
