Water and Wind ( acrylic painting and a poem)

I started painting back in December of 2007. I can't draw a straight line, so I was afraid to try my hand at painting. How many of you have compared yourself to someone else or had a teacher that never praised a thing you did. I listened to my inner voices from childhood and locked away my desires to create. I joined gather in August of 2006. It changed my life. I found that I wanted to try new things as well as rediscovering things I enjoyed doing a long time ago, but had buried deep within myself. This is the first painting and poem I created in 2008. I was listening to different seascapes and music on a Comcast music channel when I painted this.

Water and Wind

Dancing together

flowing across Earth's surface

like a symphony

inspiring the colors

made by the water and wind

I love it Anne Marie! I'm not a poet or a painter, but both your poem and your painting really speaks to me.

Gather really does stir some creative inspiration doesn't it? I am amazed at all the doors and dreams that being a member of Gather has opened for me.

How very nice. Yes i can relate, i had a mom who never praised i thing i did, to this day she is that way still. You just have to surround yourself more with others that are more positive and incouraging to you. This is such a pretty piece along with the poem. Very nice. Love the color blue, so peaceful like looking to the sky or to the ocean waters. Keep sharing :)

I remember this painting, too. I love the colors and I can feel the movement. The poem and painting go together beautifully. I hope you will decide to paint again!
