I was shocked a couple minutes ago when I saw this headline online: "Star-Struck Teenager Sues Over 56 Face Tattoos".
After thinking, 'Is that even serious?', I clicked on the video.
What I saw & heard really amazed me because I have LOTS of tattoos and have never fallen asleep while getting one. There have been times when I've been very tired and would have rather fallen asleep to avoid the pain, but this girl was only a teenager and she was getting tattoos on her FACE!!! Seriously, how would anyone be able to fall asleep with a loud, buzzing & painful needle being shoved into your face?
Her story just doesn't match up. She said she asked for only 3 star tattoos on her face, but fell asleep and woke up to 56 of them. When the tattoo artist comes on to tell his side of the story, you can see why he'd think it was OK to tattoo so many stars on her face but of course his story is entirely different.
It seems to me as though she wanted this done and when her parents were upset by her appearance, she quickly changed her story and is now seeking money from the experience. What a joke!
... and, the video shows someone applying ointment to her face which also bothered me because I couldn't believe how thick the ointment was. It is definitely not supposed to be applied that thick so I wouldn't doubt if her tattoos ended up being infected. How sick that they would sit there and allow cigarette smoke to blow all over her face too!

I don't know about on my face, but I did fall asleep a couple of times getting the tat on my chest done. The buzzing is like a lullabye to me...lol.
Vic - I agree with you that the buzzing does have that quality to it... I actually love the sound of a tattoo gun, but that's just me. I CAN see someone falling asleep while being tattooed but only if it were on any body part other than their FACE! That is so crazy to me. Really, it is.

Tanning, yes. Tattooing, no. I was gripping the chair and trying deep breathing while focusing on the palm trees swaying outside with mine. No way could I fall asleep.
Ooh tanning sounds so nice right now. Thanks for reminding me that I need to buy a tanning package. I'd lay outside but the weather is horrible and we only have a chain link fence that seperates our back yard from an elementary school. For some reason I don't think the people who hang out at the playground would like to see some half naked tattooed chick sun bathing in her back yard.
You said palm trees - I take it then that you didn't get your tattoo in Oregon, ha. Did you get a 'vacation tattoo'?

I would be too nerveous to fall asleep! I can't believe she could sleep through that.
I still get nervous when I get tattoos and I have a lot though so I can't even imagine how nervous she was getting this one since it was her first one!
I can't imagine someone getting even one tattoo on their face much less over 50! And to sleep through it would seem like she'd have to be heavily drugged.

I totally think she came up with a story to cover up the fact that she wasn't thinking or was being just plain stupid.
I think her first mistake was getting the tattoo after seeing what the guy looked like. I hope he never has to have and MRI!
That's what I was thinking, David! That guy was a trip. There's no way I'd get anything done by a man who looked like that.
It sounds like a coverup to me. I don't see how you could fall asleep for one tattoo, let alone 56 unless she was heavily drugged

I've never had a tattoo but I still can't imagine anyone falling asleep getting them on their face. It sounds to me like she was on drugs or drunk when she asked for them to cover half of her face. Then when her dad showed up she lied to make it look like the guy took advantage of her while she was sleeping. I highly doubt a reputable ink business would be willing to risk it by doing something like that.

I would HOPE a reputable business would think twice about doing something like that and from the sound of the tattoo artist's story... the girl DID look at it and tell him beforehand that it was ok to continue. Weird situation but I am so curious to see what she looks like in a few years. I wonder if she'll continue to cover her body with tatooes once she loses her case and people figure out that she truly did want her face covered. Getting tattoos on your face is a HUGE step so I'm assuming she'll end up getting more.

I fell asleep while having my back and my calve tattooed but I cant imagine sleeping through my face being tattooed
I get falling asleep while having other body parts tattooed - I actually know lots of people that have done it, but the face is totally different! I would think so anyway...
she is going to have a lot of trouble convincing the court. I mean isn't that like falling asleep at the dentist office or when getting a shot ? king of hard to believe. although I have known many people who could sleep through just about anything.

Using that much ointment with make the scabbing really mushy and perhaps allow some of the ink to be removed from her face but its going to look like crap.

He drew it on their before hand, she didn't say something. Her father objected and she disregarded him. She woke up and did not object to the work being done.

Faith this is an OUTrage, and I agree with you: A) how did she fall asleep while getting a tattoo on her FACE? B) She obviously changed her story or was under the influence of something C) The ointment is WAY too thick, and D) Smoking cigarettes indoors is bad enough, but then to have it right in your face with a fresh tattoo?! These people are crazy.

it is possible to sleep while getting a tattoo. I did. But it was locad on my back/ shoulder balde. I just put my head down on the back of chrnd went to sleep since I was't allowed to move a all for almost 4 hours.
I saw an update on this story: It was as you thought, the girl wanted the 56 tattoos but when her father saw what she had done he became angry. She then made up this story to try to make it look like she was a victim.
