The woman who lives next door caught the wife and me in the driveway and showed us an outfit she'd just bought to wear to a tea party. It's not the kind of tea party where one lifts the pinky finger. I'm not even sure if tea will be served at this party but I know that this woman who would perish before she would vote for a school levy that would add $20 to her yearly tax bill is happily using the $250 stimulus check our president sent her so that she can get together with others to complain that he's taking her money. Go figure.
She'll travel to D.C. to bemoan the end of capitalism and I'm sure the local capitalists will be pleased that she and the like minded will be booking overnight accommodations, visiting local eateries and picking up souvenirs.
This neighbor is excited because she heard that Glenn Beck, Fox's latest addition to its crazy guy roster, will be there. Keep this under your hat people. The tea party bunch would like the press to believe that these parties sporadically erupt and that neither Fox nor its employees are involved in the planning. They just report, you get to decide.
Leave it to the republicans and their sympathizers to refer to a protest rally as a tea party. They like wordplay and I guess they think it's better to tell the kids
Grandma is attending a tea party
rather than
Granny is takin it to the streets.
I'm sure the last time some of these oldsters showed up at a protest rally it was to yell
America, love it or leave it!
or
Get a haircut commie!
It's an opportunity for Grandma to get out of the house and meet new people like the ones Sarah Palin has attracted to her party. How often does Grandma get a chance to rub elbows with a skinhead or sheet wearer?
Before you tea swillers get too riled up at me you should know that I'm here to help. Some of you are new to radicalism and don't realize that every good protest rally needs good protest songs to attract the youth. Remember that long haired Jewish boy named Bob Dylan? Well even if you hated him you've got to give him props for knowing how to musically charge a movement. I've written a little ditty for you to sing at your next party to the tune of Blowin' in the Wind. Go ahead, copy and paste it. It's royalty free. No copyright hassles.

Hello Paul Ponders M.,
Thank you for submitting your article to Obama Watch
TEN!!! And may I say that reading your article was an extreme pleasure!
and very effective! I shall be singing that refrain -- "Blowin' in the Wind" all day, today!!!
Very good article!
PRICELESS!!
I guess the repugnicons have a different meaning for "tea" than us flower children did... ;^D
And, when I recently asked one of them how they could justify the fact that, when Der Bushfuehrer was in office and we held rallies protesting any one of a plethora of rights violations/war mongering/no-bid defense contracting, etc., they accused us of being "unAmerican" and told us, regardless if we (or, apparently, even "the majority") voted for him or not, Bush was our President and we should support him and now that Obama was President, they were doing the same thing, I was told:
"We're not protesting against Obama, just his POLICIES..."
I replied that's exactly what WE were doing...
I wasn't. I was protesting against 43's policies and his very existence.
Yeah Jean...
They're protesting against the Commander of our armed forces during a global war on terrorism and a huge economic crisis.
I was told that was treason because it enboldens the enemy. I guess it's ok for them since hypocracy is natural to them.
Ten
Very good, thanks
Thank you to all who stopped by to ponder with me.
I'm singing :-)
I can tell you that our Cincinnati Tea Parties have not had any news people, organizations, or political parties planning them, and so it is in most parts of the country. In fact, it was after Cincinnati had over 5000 people show up that the media finally started getting interested.
In case you hadn't heard, we're for fiscal conservatism, limited (federal) government and free markets. We don't care one bit which party a politician represents, as long as he/she fits in with what we want and believe.
How much did you protest bush when he added 7 TRILLION to your credit card tab. He has caused my grandkids to have massive tax bills.
Marilyn, really? Not associated with any news people? Are you denying that the Cincinnati events are being organized by the Cincinnati chapter of Glenn Beck's 9-12 Project?
You're a non-partisan group? Really? What was up with those people who were carrying signs that said Pelosi was a pig or Obama was not a citizen or Just say no to Bo and worse?
5000? Well even Fox reports that there was most likely only 4000 but I'll give you the extra thousand because I'm sure it's not that difficult to round up Obama haters in southern Ohio.
Kevin, I have always been against outrageous spending. And Obama's spending is the most outrageous of any president yet.
Paul, yes I am certainly denying that the Cincinnati events are organized by 9/12. We're two separate groups. Sometimes, we have events on the same days. Sometimes, the 9/12 people participate at the Tea Parties. On Flag Day, we had the first event planned by both groups and held together.
We can be non-partisan and still think that Pelosi is a nutcase and that Obama is not doing what's right for the country. Are you telling me that if you're a liberal Democrat you have to agree with everything they do?
The cops in Cincinnati said that our first Tea Party had over 5,000 and the second on (held during the day so we could present a petition to City Hall - see, we do have reasons for protesting), was just over 4,500. I have not seen their estimates of the latest event on Flag Day. I would take the cops who provided security's word for the numbers, wouldn't you? They're pretty good about estimating. And we've seen how bad news people are about that. When it's something they favor, they claim big numbers. Otherwise, they play them down. There is no longer any pretense of being news people. They're extensions of parties and ideals now.
I'm not disputing your numbers. I told you I'd give you the extra thousand and considering the location I'm surprised at your low turnout.
You say we're two separate groups
Who are the we?
Surely you're not involved with those rascally community organizers. Sarah Palin warned us about them.
Funny, Paul. Two guys started the Cincinnati Tea Party at one's guy's kitchen table, 5 weeks before the date planned. He started a web site about it. When I heard about the Tea Parties that had been held in February, I did a Google search to see what we might find close by and there was the Cincinnati Tea Party site. Hubby and I signed up to go. 1700 people RSVP'd at the site and over 5000 showed up. I think it was a pretty good turn out, actually, especially considering that some Tea Parties had only dozens or a few hundered. But if you add all the numbers from all the cities together, it does add up to over a million.
1) Cincinnati Tea Party
2) Cincinnati 9/12 Group
Now the Loons are using a new fear tactic "Losing your freedom" and the idiots are planning another Teaparty on the 4th of July. The day we celebrate our freedom, these nuckleheads are going to moan that Obama is enslaving them. Ha, ha they haven't a clue. Great choice of day idiots!
Keep laughing. It's happening and you choose not to see. Every day, more of our lives are being controlled by this administration. People got mad at Bush, but he was nothing next to this one.
Cite an example of my being controlled by this administration.
If Obama can fire a business CEO, what can he do to you? If he can decide salaries of people who didn't even get bailout or stimulus money, what can he do to you? If he can fire inspector generals without following the law (30 day notice), what can he do to you? If he can decided what kinds of cars the car companies can build, what can he do to you?
He's spending more than ANY president, and some say more than all presidents combined to this point. Doesn't that worry you the least little bit?
Perhaps not if you don't have to pay it back. How can we be this unkind to our kids, grandkids and beyond?
Shrub/Vader frightened a former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff into feeling obligated to wear a flag pin -- what did they do to you?
Great article.
Geez, I really don't know if I should feel good about Bush screwing me or Obama screwing me. Apparently, it's not that bad to get the shaft if the right person is driving it home. A funny thing, politics. Seems to be based alot on faith and trust. BTW, does anyone know if there are any hippies communes still around? I think it's time to drop out.
Nee- The only "tea party" I am likely to attend is one where they SMOKE "tea". (tee-hee)
I'm just NOW seeing this, Baby Boy. You say we've met, have we? I DO believe I remember the event. THAT being the case, might I offer up a small wager? How much would you like to bet that I could get the Muggles guy to add "Nee" to his list of "smokes"?
The answer my friend
ain't
blowing in the wind....the answer
ain't blowin' in the wind.
Huh? What is the wager?
It would be unique if a little more research had precipitated the article.
Obama has spent more money on new programs in nine months than Bill Clinton did in eight years, pushing the annual deficit to $1.4 trillion. This leaves little room for big spending initiatives.
